  • i am from a younger generation but... that song has an eerie but relevant message to every generation, I wish I could have known her. I play music and sing, this song is in my songbook.

  • Beautiful, talented, funny, and one of a kind, Peggy Lee. -By the way, when asked about the message of this song, she always responded that she did believe in a healing, loving, afterlife and despite life's challenges- that it is well worth living. A true legend.

  • Great Miss Peggy Lee is Classic. Wish the song 'Make Believe' by Jerome Kern, from this same concert gets uploaded :), I had this concert taped, but alas VHF tapes don't last. The whole concert was splendid.

  • I am not sure, but think sometime in the 80's.she did it several times, including Pete Kelly's Blues, movie.

    She is entombed at Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Angeles.

    She is survived by Daughter Nicki Lee Foster, Her dad was Peggy's true love Guitarist Dave Barbour.

  • This song does not have to be suicidal!People hype up so many things. the writers thoughts also could mean to not take life so seriously, Have a ball when your down, they didn't have antidepressents then. What were their options??? Love this song, and the way Peggy Lee sings it. Thank you for the post. I remember watching this when I was A kid.
