To be honest, I thought it was a funny quip. I think Rachel Maddow doesn't think it's funny because he's a conservative and it's hard for liberals to give conservatives the benefit of a doubt when it comes to their comments, the same way conservatives certainly never give liberals the benefit of a doubt when liberals make jokes (ie Jon Kerry and the Stuck in Iraq joke)
