    Long Live Al Rappa

    Al Ripoff!

    .

  • THIS WANNA BE TELLS EVERYBODY HE IS THE ONLY LIVING ORIGINAL COMET LEFT AND THAT'S A BALD FACD LIE!!!!! FIRST OF ALL HE IS NOT AN ORIGINAL. HE PLAYED WITH HALEY FOR A FEW YEARS IN THE 60'S.....LOBG AFTER THE GROUP STARTED IN THE EARLY 50'S.

AS OF THIS DATE 7-7-2010 THERE ARE 4 REMAINING ORIGINAL COMETS STILL ROCKIN' THAT RANGE IN AGE FROM 77 TO 88.

    RAPA IS A PHONY.

  • I met Al Rappa once and asked him to listen to songs I wrote and had on a tape. He met me after the show. We went in the dressing room and he listened to every song. I had 6 of them. He gave me some great advice on all of them. As a Comet he has recorded over 50 albums with Bill Haley. He is truly a great man. When I heard they were in Hamtown I went right over.

  • I met Marshall Lytle. Lytle is many times the musician and bass player and also a great guy. This Rappa guy is not even close to being the person and bass player that Marshall Lytle is. I went to see The Comets play at Bimbos 365 in San Francisco in early 2006 and at Benecia the next day. Marshall was very nice and was very nice. He knew I wanted to meet the Comets so he actually approached me and let me meet up with them. I met my guitar hero Franny Beecher as well and the others.

  • I knew Al Rappa. I was 19 years old and was asked to play Sax and Keyboards for the so called "original comets". I saw way too many things behind the scenes as a 19 year old playing in huge showrooms. This man truly did play with the original comets. However, he is a crook, money hungry Italian Jew. He is merely living off of the name "comets" and every show we did was only to make him money. We left him and started the Loco-Motion Showband, now called-The Duke Boys from Evansville Indiana

  • oh i do know !!

  • thanks for the info...al rappa is just a low talented waster...a disgrace to Bill's memory.

  • good luck with your new band by the way.

  • thats cuz you dont kow diddly...

  • Judging by the other footage ive seen of this 2nd class bass player and singer.I am glad that it is silent cos the guy is just a clown and i don't know why Bill ever employed him in 1959!!

  • Al Rappa is the most beloved Comet of all time. I was at this show. There was a dispute over a permit. The stage was shut down and all were told to go home. Al said it didn't matter where they played it's for the Veterans. There was a parking lot down the st but no PA system. Al said "let's go!" The temp was over 100 on that black top, With sweat pouring off his face this 82 year old showman put on one of the greatest shows I have seen in a long, long time. Long live r&r. long live Al Rappa.

  • no, this is what its like in hamtramck when you play or veterans orgs.

do you really expect and eighty year old to tour with a stand up?

  • Was this some sort of impromptu performance? The band looks rather low key here (especially when compared to performances posted elsewhere on YouTube of the Original 1955 Comets and the John Lane Bill Haley's Comets.

  • unfortunately i was only armed with a camera for stills that has a small video capability or it wouldve been longer. call the polish league of american veterans on caniff in hamtramck mi and try and find out of they know the name of the shooter that was there because someone was filming it next to me and probably has sound. check my blog p2blogblogspotdotcom for a better expl. it was all spur of the moment but still worth it!!!

  • no sound

  • please upload again if there is sound on this ,would love to hear al rappa ,he was in bill haleys band a long time/

  • Is this footage supposed to be silent?
