ONLY Raja's music and SPB's voice can make you "hear" emotions. The term "enlightenment" is probably the pinnacle of these emotions. I thoroughly enjoy the orchestration in a lot of these songs which is mainly influenced by Western Classical. However, the songs are all based on carnatic raga's. A mind blowing combination and fusion

I feel blessed to be born in the early 80's in Chennai and grow up with this music. Miss those days though!!!

Ilayaraja is the music director for Cheeni Kum too. The director R.Balki is a fan of Ilayaraja and i read somewhere that he specifically wanted these tunes. So it cannot be considered as stolen, IR just reused it.

We couldnt have enjoyed the masterpiece of Dasavaratham if not for Kamalhassan, as i used to dislike his flitatious character and acting and i missed the beauty of kamal's acting in 'Anbe Sivam'. Well IR had a much longer career than ARR so lets wait and see. In any case, ARR uses two many instrumental arrangements and his songs dont have the same soulful touch. It has to do with a persons spiritual feel as well. IR has given such great compositions in Telugu, sagar sangamam, swarnakamalam, abhinandana, anweshana.. the list of melody goes on and on. Oh my god, it is just a feast!!!!

IR born in a poor family and had only old harmonium.where as ARR started with key board and performed in stereo recording units.

When IR came to the industry there were 7 Music directors.from 1976-1986 90% music chances went to IRand the rest split to other music directors-because IR was extremely busy .please find out the films in those days and look at the strategy it is unbelievable.

He takes a few months for each film to give better music but the film ''Anjali'', 500th film of IR came in just 15th yr of his career.
