I remember in Gothic 2, first time I played, I was all anxious to kill things, I find the pond to the left swamp, after I left Xardas's Tower.
As soon as the little goblin saw me it started to swing it's stick, and the Hero was just motionless. He wouldn't attack. So I started to run back to Xardas' Tower immediately, with the goblin chasing me with a stick.
The controls were so difficult by the time I learned to use the arrows, I was beating Lester (?) in illegal matches in Khorinis alleys.
Never played Gothic 1, just Gothic 2, Gothic 2 Night of the Raven, and Gothic 3.
Gothic 4 was so odd, the only part about it I liked was the beginning nightmare battle, where you play as the Nameless King, and fight your way out of the dream, through fallen paladins, fire mages and archdemons.
The music there is so Gothic, it reminds me of the previous Gothic games. But Arcania is too different. It's like Disciples III: Renaissance. Just too ..... foreign from the Core and Soul of it.
I think, that somebody should make a remake of Gothic 1 and Gothic 2 Night of the Raven in HD with better graphics and maybe some new soundtracks, but without deleting the old ones.

since my choices would be EXACTLY the same (especially with gothic, i fell in love with that game immidiately and also gothic 4 sucked:( ) I'm going to look it up, cause you think it's great and we seem to have a similar taste in computer games:D
@arthurdragon17 skyrim was ok but no nordmar .bedestha are americans. they did well but they couldnt catch it.i mean skyrim still has excellent atmo but g3 is better.and more beautiful with ultra ini.i started skyrim main quest with lvl 56 and after i am thru with everythg i dont think ill play it again...g3 ? i still play today.i dont need a story, i like to explore and enjoy atmo and muuusic =)
@yushadeathstar I cant really judge which ones are better but for sure Gothic series are one of the best , especially Gothic 1 and 2
Other worthy series worthy to mention for being one of the best for me are.. Legacy of Kain series ( both blood omen and soul reaver ) , Mass Effect 1-2 , Fallouts :) cant think of others atm but i am sure i have , lacking memory already :)
the temple of the sleeper is more complex than that one from gothic 2.......it was a real pleasure to play it......why they don't finish that machine that erases the memory......
gothic 1 and gothic 2 and notr expansion ....so awesome. Gothic 3 has amazing soundtrack but other than that is sh1t . Arcania is pure garbage.I consider Risen as gothic 3. Hope they will make risen 2 as nice as they did risen 1 ....hope they wont screw it .
Such a great game :) I only feel a bit like idiot when remembering it, because I wasn't able to finish it because I got lost in Sleepers temple every time :)
@irbisota the sleepers temple was so difficult, i had to wait 2 years to be able to finish it, because i had no internet at that moment ! This was so horrible! Every character i played i just played till the tempel....
The first three Gothic games were some of the best, most fun, most creative, and best storied games I have ever played. These rest right up there for me with Morrowind and the old wizards of the coast games. Thanks for the great music!

Kai Rosenkranz is a genius... I love soundtrack from Gothic III, but hate it for bugs... but Risen is a really good game with really good music...
