this is a cover because it is done acoustic and without Jimmy Tamborello. Ben Gibbard himself is not the Postal Service and the original song sounds nothing like this so therefore it is a cover.

No, Jimmy did not do the lyrics and melody lines nor did he only do the beats and mix. By musical foundation I mean, the structure on which it was made possible for Gibbard to write those melodies and lyrics. None of the songs would exist at all in any form if it was just Gibbard. After all that's what Ben Gibbard said would start the next postal service album: Jimmy sending him new stuff.

I don't know why people thumbed this down, since its not my opinion but what the actual process they used to write the songs and record them. Gibbard has said himself, look in some interviews. I don't know why you people have to view Tamborello as an arbitrary DJ and Gibbard as the all consuming genius in order to be happy. Give the guy the credit he factually deserves.
