mine is a US model as well. I had to change the tubes that came with it (all of the pre and power amp tubes and haven't had any issues since. I got more than 30 gigs out of it with zero issues since I replaced the tubes it sounds like something might be wrong elsewhere if that keeps happening mate. Take it to a good tech or if its under warranty take it back, it shouldnt do that.
nice playn! ive got this amp for about $400 (in the US) sounds wonderful, but it gets a little ice-picky at certain settings cuz mine was new but loaded out with a celestion seventy 80. Apparently some come with the tone tubby. Why? i do not kno. but thanx alot ur the only person who showed which tone tubby it was. so i think im gunna get the new speaker. its worth it this amp has soooo much bang for the buck. do u have any other suggestions for differnt speakers in it?
SLM used to make the original V30 or VFX3112 and the V50 called the VFX5212. These are not to be confused with the now produced v50 presently made by loud technologies, which in my opinion are crap.
That $A new price is a real shocker, but the amp has some really good Blues tones. I'm keeping by eyes peeled for a pawnshop special or clearance deals -- the ignominious fate of good if obscure gear in our brand-conscious world.
If you're talking about this years chinese models there's no comparison. If they made a 18 watt version of this same amp with a 12 it would only be louder. - Shane
I own a Crate V1512T, I love that Tone Tubby speaker, as I'm not doing any gigs I chose the 15 instead of the 30, more practical for jams with friends and loud enough not to be drowned by the drummer. Your 30 is a very good amp for the price, probably one of the most underrated vintage sounding amp on the market. I'm sure you'll have a great time playing on it!
Thanks for the comments mate. Yeah it's a killer amp I really enjoy the tone and the depth of sound, it's such a deep sounding amp when you can crank it up. I had it on 4 the other night and it was too loud :)
I think they stack up against the standard mesa boogie combos as far as tone and sound + volume :)

I tried one out last week. They sound ok with strats but overall they don't have anything on these models :)

The green speaker is a ceramic magnet speaker. The red tone tubby is a alnico magnet speaker. Both sound awesome!

do the 2 channels share an eq?
bpisan 3 years ago
yep they do, but it's a good eq system you should be able to get a good sound on both channels with the eq :)

you know anything about the v100 head? i want a new head with some tube power. I play mostly metal and hardcore but a little jazz and italian.
standxdown 3 years ago
If its the same series it probably kicks arse. I had it next to a mesa boogie last night and the crate killed it.
intheblues 3 years ago
hey, I'm thinking about that v50 amp. But is it good for some punk-rock or it's good just for blues ?
partyboy93 3 years ago
I don't play punk but it's a good amp with a kick arse speaker. I would demo it out before commiting to it.
intheblues 3 years ago
Ehhh mate thats some good stuff.
Blackhawkthesky 3 years ago
Green is ceramic magnet: more headroom.
Red is alnico magnet: less headroom.
The TT crate uses in these is techincally called the ceramic 40/40.
Check out my vids for tube info and more sound clips.

Thanks for that, yeah these speakers are awesome I want to do a better video now I know more about it.
