@snootzie78 you might be right....hell a lot of us hear with differant sets of ears and we associate what we like with rhythms we are used to hearing and it reminding you of of something else.
hideously awkward vibrado.. i mean to say "otherwise it would be good" would be wrong because vibrado should really be the most important thing in this song..
Shame about the intonation during the first few notes. My favourite cellist by a mile. I do not think she has recorded the Elgar. Please tell me if I'm wrong.
There's also an interesting unaccompanied cello transcription (a subtle virtuoso version)by David Johnstone in the site of johnstone-music ... and it's a free download!
a lot of notes in the first minute are false. In fact i like the way she plays it but i ruin it because since i have heard my teacher playing it, so much better, sorry for ofra's fans, i cannot hear any other interpreatations od this masterpiece of the great Pablo Casals.
Her vibratto sounds like a shaky / too lightly handled bow.
I mean... 80s hairstyles FTW. >.<

Beautiful but her vibrato is a bit too fast for my taste. Gorgeous song.

Pau Casals is the master of the modern cello. I'm sure. Aquesta peça m'emociona, i no sabeu prou com.

Faaaar too slow... needs to flow a little more.. shame! Isserlis plays the best version, with sally beamish's arr.
get it!

I agree Jonesy611. It feels slightly stuck almost.

Why does she have her endpin out so long? Must be a Rostropovich thing.
snootzie78 3 years ago
so it will up high enough
zaokoyechatma 3 years ago
I've seen that quite a lot actually but Rostropovich has it the worst.
