  • I am going to try this tomorrow I hope it fixes my problem, my husband will be so proud of me :) Now I need to findout how to change a fuse for the heater...

  • Having some trouble with my wife's Saturn L200. I believe the linkage is broken (passenger side wiper doesn't work) but to get access, I believe I need to remove the wiper arms (to pull the plastic guard for access to linkage). Similar set up as shown in the video but I've been unable to remove the arms after removing the nuts. Any ideas?

  • @tbacks1335 I wish i had some ideas but i have not done any work on the on the L series.

  • Thanks so much for this video. I did exactly what you described in the video. I have did the same thing many times before but this Cavalier didn't like it very much and stripped out with very little effort on my part.

I cleaned out the metal from the splines. Use a file to dress the bottom mounting surface of the arm. And used a very light dab of semi-perm epoxy on the splines upon reinitialization of the arm. Bam! Better than new.

  • @slipdisc Where there is a will there is a way.

  • 2007 chev malibu.....have any of you guys had a problem with your dash making a rattle at higher speeds?? coming from passenger side. already took it in once and said they put 2 sided tape on wiper cowell but i am still getting the noise! any suggestions would be great!! thanks!!

  • @frodoteabaggans I can not give you much input because i have not run into this problem.

  • ur the BEST.. im gona subscribe.

  • thanks...

  • Thank you very much! It worked like a charm!

  • great straight to the point advice. Just fixed my bosses wipe which had that identical problem. Simply took the nut off, removed the wiper and tried cleaning sum aluminium away. then tightened it all back up and was fine. no need for new wipers

  • Absolutely fantastic... the arm on my ford got caught and i was driving in heavy rain with the passenger wiper stuck down. within ten mins i fixed it. a good clean simple video fix... even for a man that last messed with cars at school. Thanks again :D

  • Thank you very much. Yesterday I was thinking to find a mechanic to fix my car's wiper arm which was damaged because of ice and snow. This morning it was snowing, and again I though how to fix it. After watching this video, I've learned how to fix. I watched, I fixed, and I saved time and money. Again thank you very much. Sorry for my English. I know it is not good as my Spanish, but I'm trying.

  • thank you so much !! i have been trying to figure this out for days ... at 34 seconds i had the data i needed ... lol ... not much of a real mechanic me ...

  • Yea, I have to do this myself. Thanks a lot. I'm not exactly flush with cash right now, and I can't afford to take my truck in for every little thing.

  • Thank you so much! This video helped me decide whether I needed to buy a new motor assembly or not (not). Your videos are so helpful and precise. I really appreciate you making and posting them. THANK YOU!

  • will try this tomorrow, hope it works

  • Thank you so much for taking the time to post this tutorial. I spent my Saturday afternoon trying to find an open car repair shop that would deal with this problem for me and when Sunday rolled around I realized I was facing a week without a working windshield wiper and no time to take the vehicle in.

Within 10 minutes after watching your video it was back up and wiping again. You saved me the money and the hassle on the repair. Good man.

  • @gravalav Glad i could have helped.

  • weeeeeeeee it worked..didnt even have to buy a new arrrmmmm either

  • after i clean out all the aluminum from the bolt or whatever will the old wiper arrrmm work? or do i need to go buy brand new one?..thanks for the video

  • @RareRapVideoz There is a very good chance you can reuse your old arm.

  • @richpin06a thanks sir gonna go give it a try..cant drive in a huge snow storm with no drivers side wiper lol

  • Gonna try it for my 2002 Chrysler Sebring Ltd Convertible. Thanks.

  • Thanks Rich, luckily the bolt was just lose on my driver side wiper. I wish I would have fixed it this weekend. It rained all morning and I had to drive in it with a broken wiper to take my kids to school. I'm glad it's fixed and the best part is it was FREE, thank you so much and I looked like a pretty cool mom out there fixing my own car.

  • @tjleavy You are right it is very cool seeing a mom fix her car.

  • Thanks a lot. Very easy, and directly addressed my problem exactly. Saved me a good deal of money. This is immensely appreciated, as I am unemployed.

  • @ziggynspam Glad i could be of help.

  • Remove the ahm from tha cah! Great!

  • @polishmf that's wicked pissah

  • Thank you so MUCH!!!!!

  • I've used a dab of valve grinding compound to help reduce slipping, when the splines are worn.

  • @binnsh That will give it good grip

  • Thang for the info. Now let me get to it.

  • @jayboogie222 yes yes don't let me stand in you way.....smile

  • yeah it was ment for golfer1059 my bad...thx for the video tho it did help me out

  • i have tried the oil trick and that isnt workn..... got another idea??

  • @ilovemoney888 I do not recall saying anything about oil in this video.

  • Again-Thanks!!! I haven't checked yet to make sure this is my problem, as it is night time and it is pouring outside, but I'm sure this is it! Will check it out for sure in the morning. Your videos are the best!!

You've helped me more times than I can remember!

  • Thank you !!! this worked for me :)

  • THANK YOU!

  • Thanks for the tip A1

  • Fixed my Sienna with your help!!! THANKS so MUCH!!!!!

  • Wonder if doing this on my 95 Audi (drivers side) will be the same process? of course the stealership wants 100$ to do the job and 95$ for the part. Insane...

  • Excellent - my driver's side wiper on my 97 Saturn started going too far over and would get stuck off the side of windshield. Your instructions were exactly my problem - I cleaned the grooves and all is working like new again. Thanks!

  • Fixed my mini Cooper wiper after ice froze it to the windshield and it quit working. Thanks!!!

  • IT WORKS !!! THANKS MUCHO !!!!

  • This worked for me. It was actually ice / sediment in the spindle, not aluminium, but cheers! :)

  • unlike golfer1059, i WANT like to "glue" on the new arm (02 saturn sl). this is the 2nd time the spline has stripped out of the arm. the car side of things seems fine but the arms are getting harder to find. how about me adding a drop of loctite or some other "glue" to this connection? and if so, what type?

thanks for all your great vids!

(an even crazier idea- drilling a hole thru both the arm and mounting stud and tossing in a cotter pin, but i'm sure that is just stupid, right?)

  • @mmadden123 Maybe a spot of JB Weld would do the trick.

  • Hi richpin - I have the same car as you and after I took off the nut, I pulled as hard as I could and couldn't get the arm off. Feels like it's glued on, any suggestions?

  • @golfer1059 Penetrating oil an a little tapping with a hammer ort to do it.

  • thank you for this useful clip. :)))

  • i have an 01 grand prix and the other day the wipers somehow got tangled together and the drivers side wiper got bent and now moves freely...do you think cleaning the spline like you did will work or is there worse damage?

  • @blacklabelchaos3 I think it will work give it a try.

  • hi my wiper when I turn on is like jumping or sticky how do you fix it.

  • @prekoy Sounds like the motor-transmission could be faulty and might need replacing.

  • great vid man i hope it works on my 97 blazer 1 arm just stopped the drivers side and i didnt know how the arm came off. Thanks i hope this works. and check out my channel and subscribe. sorry i always throw that in there.

  • You are a genius. Both of my wipers were not working, so I went to the dealer and they didn't even inspect it. Just said, "yep, you need new wiper arms". They then priced out two new wiper arms for over $400. I got a little suspicious. I then stumbled upon this video and this technique worked like a charm. Thank you so much!

  • Big help!! My wife's wiper arm disconected form the moter, used this to learn how to take off the wiper and "snap" it back into place. Thank You

  • good tune in the background listenin to that myself

  • I love getting in the groove too.LOL

  • Excellent instruction, It worked for us.

  • Yeah! It worked for me also. One blade was slipping like mad after the last ice storm, and today, both blades locked in an X across the middle of the windshield. I thought I was in for an expensive repair. This article justifies my internet bill for the week!

  • ignore my question. I GOT IT FIXED!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO RICH!!! YOU DA MAN!!!!

  • when you replace the arm, is it a new arm or is it the same old one??

  • It is the old arm.

  • thanks for a great video...broke my drivers wiper tonight on a 1996 Impala SS and have no time to visit the dealership for the next 4 days...removed both wiper arms and cleaned the spindles and now I just need to buy new arms on my lunch...luckily, no snow forecast tomorrow! thanks again for teaching me something new!

  • Rich YOU ROCK!!! Total time to make my '01 Camaro SS Convertible windshield wipers run like new... <5min. Tools required... crescent wrench and xacto blade. This is where the internet truly shines, the free exchange of useful knowledge...Happy New Year Rich!!! Drinks are on me tonight! All the best in 2010

  • thanks so much!... My wiper froze to the windshield and then twisted when it was turned on, I didn't have to clean the grooves or anything but just taking t apart and retightening it straight worked, and it only took 3 minutes!

  • Thanks, bro! You're awesome...

  • thank you very much for this video. fixed my wiper arm as per your instruction and it's working as good as new.

  • Great video. My wife just got a 360degree rotating rear screen wiper on the first frosty day. If it's just scraping out of a groove, can't wait to try it.

  • Worked. 5 minutes. Inside of wiper joint smoothed in one place but seems OK.

    Ta

  • You are the MAN!!! Thanks for saving me a ton of time and money!!!

  • Cheers! Saved me some money, didn't have to make a Canadian Tire appointment for something so simple! :)

  • Excellent demonstration. Thank you very much!

  • I have that exact problem. You showed me just what I needed to know and saved me a lot of time and trouble. Thanks for making and posting the video!

  • I just did this in under 10 mins, my van's rear wiper was fixed! Thank you SO much!

  • can you tell me how to fix a wiper transmission? the nut came off the part that goes on the motor I've tried to re-align it several times and it always goes backwards! I just can't figure it out!

  • Thanks, you saved me a ton of pain. This is exactly what happened to me.

  • thanks

  • thx
