Good thing for Bukowski all those poor schlubs working in the breweries of the beer he drank, wineries of the wine and distilleries of his hard booze succumbed to the pathetic tediousness of their 8-hour workdays. How in all that is Bukowski could he have gotten through even one day "on the fringe" if those people didn't work to produce his liquid opiate??? What a fuckin' leech and hyporcite he is at times (and I'm a fan ... to a degree)
@loudenm he meant 8hour jobs as something menial that you dont relate to and do just because you have to do it to pay the bills. You can see the obvious difference between such a person and somebody loving what they do, making wine/beer, finding new recipes, perfecting the craft. Technology will take away the mindless jobs so this speech is really relevant now... the time everybody will pursue what they really love. Or do nothing - whatever you want.
Better to leave school and become a fkn cog. Because, you know, dreams are unrealistic, and oh, my, what will other people think of me??!! :/

@northdakotadams Yeah what's more pathetic than people watching game shows; of people winning prizes that are not you winning them.
