  • EnTwistle & Shout

  • I prefer the Ox to the Walrus :)

  • Now this is cool!

  • I didn't know that Pete could sing. WOW

  • @dhzlatar John is singing main part. They all could sing (even Keith Moon who isn't in this video)

  • Phil Medley and Bert Russell wrote twist and shout it was originally named shake it up, baby

  • So great!

  • Never forget that this video is from 1982. Ferris Bueller came out a few years later.

  • Good version but the best is The Top Notes

  • John invented the death growl.

  • This is an Isley brothers song. Who was in the Isley Brothers? Jimi Hendrix! So it's kinda like a Hendrix song.....Ok that's a stretch.

  • Remember seeing this at the "last US" show in Cleveland in 82.

  • ya but the Beatles owned this song...

  • shit the ox have good vocals.....for rock and roll

  • There's something wrong here... Don't you Guess?... Pete did not smash his guitar!

  • some people are soo dumb thinking this is a beatles song

  • @iqbal476 ya :P they suck..do you know if Medley and Russel singed it??(i think no)

  • phil medley and bert russel have written this song...

  • this is not a beatles' song... they covered it, too

  • Who's singing The Beatles? *badabum tss*

  • @TooHuman Oh god thats bad... HahHAhahaHHAHhHAhaAHAHAhaHAH

  • @ConnorG56 that bad????? You gotta be damn good.....at talking.

  • @swingmanu what?

  • so nice play

  • sorry but beatles version is better

  • i miss maple leaf gardens ;(

  • Why would The WHO want to sing a pathetic Beatles song? Stick to WHO songs which are much better than the over-hyped Beatles.

  • @anunnaki2006 shut the fuck up, twist and shout is not a beatles' song, and the fab were so much better than the who.

  • Yeaaaaaaah!!!!!! The Who cantan The Beatles ♥

  • awesome cover! love it

  • wait that's not entwhistle is it?

  • Just an idea. Since there are two remaing Beatles and two remaing from the Who, how about getting them together and call themselves Beatle Who? Make an album together and go tour the world. You know they would rake in lots of dough!

  • @TXMusicDrummer I've thought the same thing... It'd be the best thing ever, pretty much. Who, the Beatles? The Quarry Detours (based on each band's previous names) are other names i came up with.

  • @TXMusicDrummer Roger-vocals

    Pete-Lead guitar

    Paul-bass

    Ringo-drums

  • @TXMusicDrummer XD I never thought of that. But It might not mesh very well because Its pretty much a given that they will have to play some older tunes and I don't see Paul playing Something like My generation or wont get fooled again on bass and TBH Ringos not great drummer and he will mess up the harded who songs.

But yeah besides that IT WOULD ROCK

  • HOT HOT HOT HOT!!!!!!!!!

  • 0:21 okay Roger's doin some pretty nice vocals, I like where this is goin...

    0:22 wait what's John doin?

    0:25 HOLY SHI-

  • It sounds much better than the Beatels' version.

  • Les Who, la base quoi ! ♥

  • They look so 80's O_O

  • @RakyunKim well this was 82

  • IF YOU LIKE THIS MUSIC PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT MY CHANNEL WHERE I SING THIS AND 29 OTHER SONGS, BEATLES AND OTHER MUSIC FROM THE 60/70s

IF YOU LIKE THEM PLEASE PASS THEM ON TO YOUR FRIENDS.

    THANKS

    NOEL.

  • wow listen to ox kill it haha, never knew he had such good pipes, heard the few songs they had where he was lead vocals but didnt do him justice as far as his range goes. But this was a pleasant surprise

  • Is that Moon at drums?

  • @dorzsboss Kenney Jones. This is after Keith Moon had died.

  • @Tranchera Just seein him in Moon's seat makes me feel sad :,(

  • @OldEarthChaos Don't forget the Beatles were the ones who made the song and that this is a good cover by the who.

  • @TheHelpfulShade beatles also covered this song... originally sung by top notes

  • @elmariachi109 Really? I never knew that... can't know everything at 14

  • IT is a cool video

  • great cover

  • lejos la mejor version es la de "los beatles "

  • The Beatles' version is not the original 3MOORI, however I think somebody is dubbing Entwistle's voice on this as I can never remember it being quite as terrible.

  • this version has lol

  • Opening sounds like La Bamba. In my opinion The Beatles Version is far far better than this. Maybe Daltrey should have taken lead on this one. Phil Medley and Bert Russell wrote it and it was originally called "Shake It Up, Baby." Tthe Top Notes recorded it first, then The Isley Brothers. Then It was covered by The Beatles.

  • DX ewww i didnt read "The Who" part and i- well- barfed on my laptop

  • @tuckty89 do you not like the who?

  • the OX RULES !!!!!!

  • John should have sang the main vocals more often.

  • @kasabianbass oh dont worry he did and with george and paul as back up

  • Its not technically a Beatles song, they also covered it. Although there version is most famous.

  • I think The Beatles version is better! :-)

  • It's The Who playing The Beatles song, how it could be better?! Maybe if I was there...

  • i thought the beatles covered twist and shout as well

  • /watch?v=KUz_hZwlDEM watch my band playing ALL MY LOVONG

  • the vocalist looks like nicolas cage xD

  • @cerqueira1993 Lead Vocals-Roger Daltrey

    Lead guitar/piano/lead vocals-Pete Townshend

John Entwistle-Bass/backing vocals/(lead vocals for only this song)

drums/(lead vocals for only Bell Boy)-Keith Moon

  • @iamobeliskquake thanks :)

  • @cerqueira1993 John and keith actually would sing more then that but it was rarely. example Keith sang Fiddle About and John sang Boris the Spider

  • @iamobeliskquake jon actually sang uncle earnie (fiddle about) on the album keith moon only sang it in the movie. Keith did sing tommys holiday camp in the album, he did the high pitched vocals in barbara ann (cover) i know theres another one he did himself but i can't think of it off the top of my head

  • @sick10243 bell boy*

  • @sick10243 Keith also sang live. I go usually go by that instead of how things go for albums

  • @iamobeliskquake john sung lead for more than 1 song

  • @iamobeliskquake i know. i couldnt remember at the time i posted that comment.

  • The who are better than beatles.

Beatles were a pop group pretending to be rockers.

The Who played REAL BRITISH ROCK'N ROLL.

  • @cesarmalak suck a bag of dicks

  • @TheMrMysteriouso Ain't feeling like doing you that favor. Do it yourself and die, baby.

  • @cesarmalak suck a million penises

  • @cesarmalak reaLLY pretending to be a rock group huh, try listening to revolution, helter skelter, you better go through the beatles albums, they were a rock band, wake up

  • @cesarmalak Suck my dick...Your mother loves my dick...

  • @cesarmalak Can't tell if trolling, or just stupid.

  • la peor copia de los beatles que he visto

  • @abramsization de hecho no es copia de los beatles, y ni siquiera la versión de los beatles es la original!, aunque para mi la versión de los beatles es la mejor esta también esta a la altura

  • I love Roger... X )

  • the who got an attack of brittish after lennon died - stopped doing eddie cochrane.

  • Roger Daltrey is beautiful

  • they're both amazing bands, but seriously only led zeppelin can match with the set up in the band, ringo starr is good but keith moon is alot better, pete is better than george, maybe paul as written more really really good songs, but still the who is the who

  • No way they are better than the Beatles. Get real!

  • @TheMary1955 i meant a bit better to play, and it sounds easier

  • anyone got the guitar tabs for this? there a bit better and a bit differet

  • Holy shit, Kenney Jones on the kit. : )

  • will someone pleaseee check out my beatles cover? It seriously took me so long to make. It would be greatly appreciated!

  • i prefer the beatles! <3

  • @Alessana88 I prefer the original which is by the Isley Brothers for sure.

  • THE OX <3

    RIP, NEVER BE FORGOTTEN

  • Is it me or did The Beatles do this better???

  • John Entwistle was the man!

  • I like the Orginal better :D

  • WTF The Beatles can do better than The Who at Twist and Shout

  • Awesome share, mate! rock on!

  • John Lennon here....talking to you from Rock and Roll Heaven. In my humble opinion, The Who ARE a great band...but they are just covering The Beatles version of "Twist and Shout". So I think The Beatles' version is BEST. Oh yeah, before I forget:

    "Fuck Yoko"...she broke us up!

  • @curtispsf you're really a big ass faggot man ;) The Beatles has covered it from the Top Notes and The Isley Brothers and the song is written by Phil Medley and Bert Russel. So shut the fuck up and do not say that they are covering the Beatles, and yeah that version is also awesome, but Entwistle voice is just fucking awesome for this song

  • @Johanisdamen Anybody who calls someone else a faggot is automatically a faggot, faggot. John Lennon's voice is 10000% percent better than Entwistle. I'm a musician and the last 8 bars after the lyrics were straight Beatles without the last chord. So BITE ME BITCH!

  • @Johanisdamen Two things dude: 1) You need an attitude adjustment 2) I agree 100% with curtispsf. The Beatles & John Lennon's "cover" was SO MUCH BETTER THAN Entwistles. I'm not saying that cover by The Who isn't awesome; it is. But my opinion, and it's just MY opinion, is that The Beatles' cover was better. Why do you need to attack someone with a different opinion? Just asking.

  • If there is a difference in the way The Who do a song as opposed to the way The Beetles did a song I would say the Who Rocked and the Beetles Popped.

  • @whotwo Maybe you should first learn how to spell The Beatles' name (not the Beetles) and then start commenting on their music. :)

  • J. Entwistle = GOD

  • in this video, Roger looks like the lead singer of the stray cats

  • The Beatles didn't even write this song. It was the Isley Brothers. And either way, The Who kicked both their asses.

  • The Isley Brothers recorded this first.

  • @mahrette The Topnotes I think they were called, a white Philadelphia band, then the Isley Brothers covered that

  • I'm a big Beatles fan and I reckon both this version AND The Who ROCK!!!!!

John Entwistle has got to be one of the most under-appreciated bassists and vocalists of all time - watch him in action in "The Who Live at Kilburn".

To the OP, nice find mate, thanks for sharing !

The haters can rarely string together a coherent and substantiated argument, e.g. 0123z below.

The internet provides an unsurpassed sense of security to those idiots who can't keep inflammatory opinions to themselves...

  • @ProcessVariable

i wouldnt exactly call Entwhistle unappreciated.....

  • this is gay, 10 000 times worse than Beatles version

  • @0123z No you're gay and 10,000 times worse than any other human being.

  • way too many dislikes for this video. 134 people must have been too drunk/stupid to press the like button

  • I love the fact that I got to see The Who with John Entwhistle and Keith Moon, (and nobody will ever replace them), but I also love the fact that they still carry on. Long live THE WHO!!

  • @photo2010 damn i wish i could say the same, i've just seen the half Who and Roger solo. But still a fantastic and memorable experience nonetheless

  • Keith would have loved this.

  • @brandonlace

In fact, would he have been there he would've demanded the microphone. Singing along in the most horrible out off tune voice you have ever heard in your life. With an evil grin on his face.

  • The real music :)

  • THE OX!

  • i think that the beatles were much better composing songs but the Who were much better live

  • JOHN ENTWISTLE IS FUCKING AWESOME, RIP, MASTER!!!

  • affengeil !

  • Love this version of the song! I miss John Entwistle. I would love to find the full recording of the radio broadcast of this concert.

  • John had a cracking voice for a bassist! hahaha!

  • That is is a really interesting cover of "Twist anf Shout" by THE WHO. That tune originally recorded by the Top Notes and then covered by The Isley Brothers. It was then covered by The Beatles... The Beatles also borrowed a lot from Little Richard...

Keith Richards described the THE WHO as a "cover band"., most of their tunes were written arranged and recored by Pete, who prepared demos for the rest of the group ... THE WHO also covered "Saturdar Night's Alright" by Elton .John

  • John Lennon does do the best twist and shout... I got to play on one of his old pianos... at a musical instrument museum in Scottsdale, AZ

  • this doesn't sound like The Who, but then again, i don't know that much about them, i like their music

  • How can people be comparing this to the fucking Beatles? The Who really ended when Keith died, so this isn't really them. In their prime, they would've easily topped the Beatles on stage.

  • prefiero a mis beatles <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

  • John Entwistle stated in interviews he hated this, he had to scream his vocals just to hear them at all because of a shit PA system. He was also apparently a huge Beatles fan.

  • EWWWW thats like offensive to the beatles thumbs up if you agree

  • " the original version with john lennon is better " they both cover wake up guys !

  • @kraken589 ... No, I think they're just sharing a mic? I'm almost certain there's been upward of a hundred bands in the 60s alone who've done the same thing at some point. Sharing a mic for backing vocals isn't all that unique.

  • Comment removed

  • @kraken589 Somebody's a biased Beatles fan apparently.

  • @batosai370 actually i like the who more than the beatles

  • @kraken589

Its because they were broke. lol

  • @kraken589 what kind of an idiotic statement is that? Copy the Beatles in doing a cover? Um, yeah, The Who tried to copy so many bands. How unoriginal. Get a BRAIN!

  • @kraken589 I guess music started with the Beatles, everyone ripped off the Beatles. Since music wasn't around before them. People didn't even walk the face of the earth until they were singing on a stage somewhere. The answer is NO, bands shared mics before the Beatles, and maybe. Just maybe, the Beatles copied a classic stage presence. Maybe.

  • @Jaggeh33 fuck off!

  • @Jaggeh33 No, you're totally wrong. Everybody copied the Stones in terms of rock.. And the stones copied bluesmen of the 30's like Johnson.

  • wannabe beatles

  • @crazyguy47 how the hell are they like wannabe beatles??? they are totally different bands... because they did a cover doesn't mean they are trying to be them! Personally, I prefer the Who's version because they are more raw and loud and I although I love the Beatles as well, I find the orginal a little twee compared to this, but then again I am biased.

  • @allergictopop095 no shit, dipshit. this is lame

  • that guy was singing flat as hell. Pete was looking great

  • @LarryLane07 that guy is John Entwistle, the greatest bassist that ever lived

  • @iamobeliskquake maybe so, but he was singing flat as hell

  • @LarryLane07 i agree unfortuneately he died a few years ago

  • Oh my god, Entwistle's voice is fantastic!

  • @Botisko innit? though I LOVE Pete's voice too! Not to mention Roger. And Keith. DEAR GOD I LOVE THE WHO!

  • @thedaileegirl You're not alone ;-)

  • ATTENTION! Why the fuck is everybody arguing that who is better, The Beatles or The Who? Whey are/were both amazing bands, and this is a COVER. Relax people, and enjoy the wonderful music! btw, u rock John! R.I.P man!

  • @Ipezki666 oh you forgot the Isley Brothers. :) they had a good cover too. but all 3 versions are good. even though Isley Brothers had the original

  • I still remember watching this concert on CityTV when I was a kid! Awesome!

  • The Beatles version is better but this one is good too. I like how they gave Entwistle the lead.

  • The Beatles were simply the best. But this version is still really amazing.

  • Damn John!

  • no one will ever pull off Lennon's strained beautiful voice in twist and shout ever.

  • No "oooooooooo" dislike.

  • i never knew that john could sing so well..

  • The Who would literally blow the Beatles, and most bands off the fucking stage!!!

  • I was at this show, and a few others on that tour. I love this fucking version. You just had to hear it live man!!

  • The Ox gives this one a fair crack though!!

  • Comment removed

  • @Rewster86 Three-quarters of The Who.

  • @Tranchera Well, yes, Keith is the only one missing from the picture. In my opinion, he made up half of the personality that was The Who. That is why I said half. I'm not discounting Roger, Pete or John, but I think they might even agree with me on this one. The Who, as far as I'm concerned, died with Keith Moon.

  • @Tranchera No. Keith only was one half of it. Hahahahaha.

  • Give peace a chance support Justice party. click Justice party UK.

  • Lennon! (L)

  • Twist N Shout

    JOHN LENNON > John Entwistle

John E. version is good but John L. version is the best and the Beast!!!

  • ur suck! D;
