fucking hell, yes! travis did the drums for all there songs. but seriously, trav left to be with family. and they seriously could not have picked a better drumer to replace him. so shut your fucking mouths. there both fucking amazing drumers.
Nick is sloppy? You might want to see performances of "A Gunshot To The Head Of Trepidation" and "Rain" from 2009 and compare them with Nick's performances from 2010.
Now who's sloppy? Travis aint a bad drummer, he's great, but he majorly fucked up most performances in 2009.
Nick also makes songs sound a lot more interesting, i.e. When All Light Dies. And Pillars Of Serpents just sounds brutal when Nick's blasting his kit to pieces.
I totally agree with you. Travis is definitely the better drummer. It's not all about technique. You need a unique style. Nick is just thrashing the drumset. Trivium will not be the same without Travis - sad but true.
I love some of their riffs... but um, does anyone else wonder why EVERY single new metal band uses that same chord progression in EVERY song?
It's SO SO SO boring and overused, it seems by Linkin Park to begin with... and cheaply "epic" sounding. Ugh... I never thought a chord progression could get annoying.
@htebreeder Just the opening chords. The same chords are used on the verse too.
On a standard tuned guitar the chords would be Em, C, Am. Trivium have some amazing songs and they're VERY talented but pretty much every chorus in every song of theres uses these chords. Nearly every heavy band since 2000ish use these chords!
I know everyone is free to use whatever chords they like but when every song is cool riff>verse>chorus, Em, C, Am>Solo it gets boring. Linkin Park used the same structure.
Ah, I get what you're talking about. But, you're getting song structure and chord progression mixed up. In popular music of today, practically everyone uses the verse-chorus-bridge format. But, I dunno, some of Triviums songs have harmony sections, and some of their older stuff isn't how do you say monotonous. Or how'd about this, what about their new song Shattering the Skies Above? What do you think of that?

Must be that spot at the powerstation. A few years ago when Avenged Sevenfold played there Synister Gates did the same thing.

guys, don't be funny. nick is awesome. i'm not saying travis was bad one, but don't say nick is garbage
shattering the skies above with travis wouldn't be as good as it is, and like MATT SAID shattering is currently their best song
they're diffrent drummers, both are pretty good
