I remember doing this for a loooong time like four years ago on Lakshmi. I went 1/50 on it or something. And what made it even longer was a RMT group of 4 people getting it half of the time or even more often. And what did I do it for? Most probably not for the mediocre, not really helping that much at all stats, but rather the prestige (easily the most important factor in FFXI). Could've most likely leveled my NIN to 37 ten times over with a good static if I didn't search for this thing. lol

Best way to claim though is not to run up and throw something at it . For instance if you are thf and you're equipping your rouges feet why on earth would you stop fleeing... Run right up to the SOB and STEAL from it... If you're camping against someone else and you stop to whip out your boomerang or chakram I guarantee that mages dia will out claim you. When you're at camp solo tho- Ranged is all good. Thf/RNG works great for this

Have a rng/thf... spam wide scan after PH kills. If it pops on wide scan but is far from your location. Track it, then flee. Shadowbind to claim.

some people just have all the luck and get the drop 1/1...myself personally have never been 1/1 on anything. going 1/1 on something would be a miracle (litterally) but i must say that things tend to obey to your will and drop for you when you least expect it but when you do expect it, never does it drop, ever. i found that VE though, isnt as bad as LL or Mee Deegi and Quu Domi, those are hell.

I can't say from experience that VE is harder because I just got there and it spawned, dropped 1/1. I'm one of those "miracles" But to be honest from what my friends tell me they are a lot worse than LL, but I do agree Mee Deegi and Quu Domi are bitches.

well it depends on luck mostly...but LL is harder to camp than VE because of the area in which she spawns and shes more heavily camped and not only that but people who arent even camping who are just exping there can get her and if they are level 10 or higher they can win depending on their job...so yeah it's a pain in the arse. ofcourse widescan is your friend with both NMs. but congrats on being 1/1 that is very rare, i think it's like a 5% drop.

Another thing I love about this video is that this person stands in the EXACT same spot I did when camping. Was the only spot you could cover the whole spawn area with widescan with /RNG. RNG main was hard for VE cuz u had to use the area scan and that takes too much time. THF/RNG has best chance at getting VE and getting the drop, but BST50+/THF would dominate VE camping with Charm to claim. I loved claiming VE with Slug Shot and 1 shotting him when someone was running for it lol!

Man this video brings back memories...I used to play on Ramuh. Name was Draykos...I must have sold close to 100 hairpins before they made it stupid rare/ex. I loved camping VE more than just about anything else in the game. Easy money basically...after the rare/ex thing I had to stick with Woodworking :( SE really pissed me off when they did that. I made piles of gil off VE.

Ya I agree. It pissed me off at the time but now it seems like they've done this with a lot of NM drops. Making them R/EX and what not. Putting the rare items in BCNM or whatever. I also found out recently that Thief's knife was made much easier to get too. There was always RMT camping when I got mine the hard way. So that made me mad too because I spent so much time going after it and finally getting it. But the steps they have taken are smart so I do agree about that.

I remember when they first came up with the update that replaced the drops on VE and LL with Rare/Exs, I started camping VE right away and got it after about an hour. 1/1, then I thought... What the heck, may as well try for the boots, too. I went there, and within 30 minutes, LL popped and I claimed and got it 1/1 :p

I was trying to get pin for my NIN, went as NIN/RNG but forgot ranged attack. I claimed it with a melee, twice.
