  • That is pretty quick. But with all of those mods i would think that it would be a little faster than that. 0-100mph apx 14 secs I dont know I would just think that it would be faster with all the mods you are claiming

  • this isnt a good example of a fully built 2zz. a stock gts vs a stock itr is a good run. fully built is another matter it could be fully built with sht parts or fully built with legit parts. but stock for stock gts gives an itr a run for its money, i have a ls vtec 93 eg. but i would rather buy a gts over an itr. itr waste of money, you dnt even get all the power options

  • The problem (or bliss, depending on how you look at it) with a 2zz celica is it's gear ratio. Good for light to mid turbo, but not optimized for NA. Toyota left this car open ended (Why on earth would you need a hood scoop as well to cool the extractor on a NA build:?), unlike the Type Rs which are really tuned for NA.

  • btw, castrate the aem cai to sri , on a blitz cone and bog it up inside the engine bay. High end engines need to play with SRIs. My current core spec's pfc doing almost 220 on a new oem run-in block , trd header/clutch/flyhweel/lsd/ant­i roll/rear strut/exos (operated and decat). c-one flywheel, typer tower bar, 4.8fd, circuit oil gear, up-ed fuel pump, sri bogged with blitz cone, tein HA superstruts, brembo gt + ssr type C 17.

  • Your problem is the gear ratio. I've a 2zz as well. A stock 2zz with a X mission and just a straight thru will beat your spec in a 1/4 mile drag. Your current pickup will lose to a CTR 2.0 maxed out without reflash. Go on 16" and a 4.8FD and you will match. go for a Kaaz or C-one X mission and you will beat it.

    If the CTR 2.0 reflashes i won't know what will happen, cos it'll be at about 260 crank/1.26 tons and you should be at 235 crank/1.17tons.

  • Hey i have a question when u installed ur ppe headers did u get the downpipe with the resonator,and no cat? Reason i ask is cuz my o2 sensor after the cat is going on now after i installed the headers with downpipe,I took off the cat and ran a straight through pipe to the resonator. My mechanic said that the check engine light would come on because the 02sensor is picking up that theres no cat. Do you sudjest anything?

  • @ChampGts2000 run a defouler on the O2 its like a spacer that seperates the O2 from direct path of the exhaust so it sees less flow.no more CEL .go ebay look up CEL test pipe delete

  • Nice car. I hace a Celica GTS too. If you really installed all these parts on your 2zzge you need to set up ur car with that Power FC in a dyno. U r supposed to run mid 13s in a 1/4 mile easily and the engine does not runs well when past 8000rpm.

  • @guitarguy092 when NA (natural aspirated) tuning a car they usually also balance the engine to make more revs. the power band also is pushed more to the higher revs. this is just a light example. seen celica's do 9k-9.3k. for NA tuning counts.

    more revs more power.

  • Well...the celica weighs a hell of a lot less, has less drivetrain loss, and is fully built...so I'd expect that to overcome the displacement advantage of the Z. Don't get all worked up about it...

  • On paper hp/trq per ton and the Z does excell but thats not the point, In the real world its that much better to drive a light weight, high revving car that sounds like it having an orgasm every time stomp the right perdal. i think a more accurate comparison would be celica vs sylvia

  • For what it's worth, this vid was taken while the guy was street tuning his engine. In other words, it was nowhere near it's best. That and the fact that it's a full interior car with 17" wheels.

  • fairmonts have barely changed since they came out. still old shit gm technology. and no crx do not have more history. they didnt revolutionise anything. atleast my car was refined, pinoeered mr technology, was the first mr sports car from japan. had a revolutionary 1600cc engine which was still to be beaten. u dont know anything about mr2s or their history. its a club car. fairmonts are an old man car which i c everyday. crx have good performance but thats about it.

  • This isn't a car built for the 1/4, dude. This is a car built for turns. The throttle response and complimentary curve from this engine makes for fast exits out of a corner compared to a turbocharged car.

  • YOUR WRONG! GM burned their money by giving private jets overblown pensions, wages. Plus nearly every other manufacturer makes a sports car so why can't Toyota. They were losing sales because they were falling behind compared to everyone else. The Supra was way over priced and then they lowered it by $10,000. They didn't have diognostics capable transmissions which was another reason why they lost sales because they had to drop the 6 speed transmission which came back when it was too late.

  • The smartest thing Toyota ever did was contract Yamaha to make their performance engines...this was Yamaha's first try at making a high revving 4 cyl for automobile use and they already are better than VTECs that had a 20 year head start in this type of design.

  • sure, but the Teg Type R has a ported head from the factory and lots of them tend to have 15" wheels....lol, i'd like to see a 2zz celica with 15" wheels and a ported head race against a Teg Type R...mind you, anytime I've raced one it wasn't all that difficult. The best Teg for power is the DC5 model...now that one is clearly faster/more powerful than my 2zz celica.

  • believe me...V-TEC is the best variable valve system in the world. F1 engine RA005E can revs 20000+ with ...or 19200 without. my integra with new camshafts doing 9000 withou any problem.

  • Jaran912 - First of all, why does it mean anything that a mugen rr civic with 240hp would smash a corolla xrs with 170hp? Obviously, it has 70 MORE hp. And a cobra mustang would smash that civic. And you say that people should leave the lift to honda? Have you ever driven a toyo with lift? I've spent considerable time driving an rsx type s and a corolla xrs, and while the rsx is definitely a faster car, lift hits way harder than vtec. I'm not hating, just give some respect.

  • It really depends. You're comparing Toyota's lift with Honda's iVTEC (found in RSX type-s and newer Hondas). iVTEC doesn't lift near as hard as conventional VTEC. I'm sure you'll find that when comparing conventional VTEC with Toyota's VVT it will be a lot more similar.

  • Only reason lifts hits harder on 2zz is stock computer is tuned to reduce torque around 5k rpm and make lift seam to hit harder. In a lotus or tuned XRS I guess you can't tell as much. It is cool to show of to people in my car though.

  • jaja, you don't eve know what v-tec is... variable valve system, that's toyota achivement honda included it in their cars with i vtec long before toyota does.

  • i never say vtec was a bad system i say vvt i it's a toyota develpment they icluded in their cars since 1990, honda now put the i in their system. Lift system it's way more complex than v tec that's whay you can found it in a Lotus Elise

  • Actually VVTL-i helps much...but on Toyota Supra is other philosophy. TwinTurbo with VVTL-i 330hp, TwinTurbo without VVTL-i 320hp...10hp more with VVTL-i. On Celicas,Corrolas,MR2/s, VVTL-I can put out much more power.

  • @interceo Hold on a sec there. VTEC and VVTi are different in operation. VTEC allows for physically different camshaft profiles, but doesn't allow modification of the timing.Where as VVTi stands for Variable Valve Timing Where as VVTi stands for Variable Valve Timing, which means you retain the same cam profile you just get to rotate it in regards to crankshaft. *** Disclaimer, I own an Exige so I am not a honda fanboi and I know exactly what the 2ZZ is, I just appreciate good engines in general

  • @Surannhealz Yes people should get it right. The 2ZZ-GE has VVTL-i which does allow for a more aggressive cam profile along with a low range profile. Very similar to original VTEC though slightly different in the way it's achieved in operation.

  • @interceo Just saw this vid... You do realize VTEC has had variable lift since 1989 when it was first used on the NSX? Toyota was very late to the variable lift game.

  • @Azuremen i disagree, they were getting onto the idea ever since way back when they brought out the 4AGE in 1983. it went through alot of development in achieving high revving NA power, but didnt actually implement VVT til 1991. so yes honda officially beat them by 2 years, but toyota were already onto it anyway, and werent very late at all. just have a read of the 4AGE's extensive history.

  • longer you can keep the car in one gear the longer it will accelerate, besides if it isnt making power it would be struggleing to rev.

  • no it's a regular gt-s..but running a Power FC which allows me to set the rev limit where I want it.

  • my gts is stripped and is equally as fast.. if not faster with only cai,flywheel,full race exhaust. stock ecu (no tune). strip it out and youll have a beast. you must be one of the first to show results of a > 200whp 2zzge though. congrats!
