Interesting that you mention apartheid at the end, cuz Desmond Tutu wrote an article denouncing SB1070 & comparing it to the racist system that he lived under. I think I made that tweet within the last 2 to 5 days.
SB1070 is not racist. SB1070 prohibits racial profiling. SB1070 states, "A law enforcement official or agency of this state or a county, city, town or other political subdivision of this state may not consider race, color or national origin in implementing the requirements of this subsection except to the extent permitted by the United States or Arizona Constitution." SB1070 stops ILLEGAL immigration. Only LEGAL immigrants (who are of all races) are welcome in the United States.
Read the racist history of this state of Arizona. Pro-slavery, pro-white-supremacy, anti-non-white, and now this law which conveniently dances around the fact that this is ALL ABOUT WHITE SUPREMACY. Just look at the follow up bill BANNING ETHNIC STUDIES that is now on Brewer's desk for signing. If it quacks like a duck, has feathers, and flys like a duck you call it a duck. In this case this all smells of white supremacy, let's call it white supremacy.
I forgot to mention the law just passed that BANS TEACHERS WHO HAVE ACCENTS. I'm sure that a German or British accent will be acceptable. But that's not racist of course. Let's wait for the first Irish, French, or Italian accented European to be fired. Yeah, right....
@TranCendenZ - Thats all fine and dandy, "if your not a minority", but everyone knows this will lead to more racial profiling. This bill will really do nothing else except transfer the job of local police to do duties focused on going after anyone with brown skin and be automatically assumed that they are "dangerous illegals" killing white ranchers. Yep, 70% of the state does like this law, problem is, the other 30% are latino, natives, and other minorities. You do the math.
