You're mistaking Gonzo for Geneon, which is a distributor that licensed anime in the US before it went out of business. Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (When They Cry) has 2 complete seasons in Japan, but only 3 dvds from the first season were released in the US before Geneon went under.
