Fun though this is, it's not a patch on the original version of the story created by the late and brilliant Gerard Hoffnung - as 'becklionel' points out - presented by him at his 1958 Address to the Oxford Union. I find it disingenouous of Alan Smith and other performers of this song not to have acknowledged the source of their inspiration.
