good advice for a first board would be the 30 pounds ABEC 7 Voltage board from skatehut,co,uk, got mine yesterday morning and it beat the shit out of my old plain lazy evolution board and feels nearly as good as my mates Renner B series :D also has lots of pop so ill be able to get some good ollies down when I put my mind to it ^^ would ahve been out all day today but its bloody raining in the south :(

@ElRhinoProductions yeah, just bought some Super Reds by Bones and I can now say screw cheap boards, its much better to put a fair amount of cash into a board and get something thats gonna last a while, next thing im getting is an Enjoi deck and then maybe some destructo trucks :D

@Sirusf got mine and actually they are not bad at all! from two good pushes I get most of the way around eastliegh skateparkand its nice and lights without too much flex :) although they do more expensive ones with ABEC 7 chromed bearings for around 30 pounds, pretty good, also do you actually live in Lewes? if so I might pop round there on a friday night and see you guys in action!

@Sirusf The bearings in the trucks, a board has an ABEC rating because depending on what ABEC rated bearings the board has the friction differs, the higher the abec rating; the lower the friction therefore the higher the number the faster the board can travel (along with other factors)
