  • a movie immensely

  • My stupid brother is like "Boooriiing!" when I start this movie. And he hasn't even seen it yet.

  • Lars rapes our hearts with this scene.

  • 65 .. 79

  • this scene is terrifying... gave me goosebumps

  • I was never so happy to see someone get hanged as in this film. I detest her voice and cannot understand why anyone enjoys that depressing caterwaul she does.

  • @davidgrahamscott Get yourself to her level and maybe that kind of statement will have some credibility. Other than that, try to stay away from videos of artists that you hate. You stupid fucking troll. Didn't your mother raise you better than that?

  • @krazycookie317 Get myself down to her level? Nope...I'm quite happy being what I am. And I don't remember saying anything objectionable to you so why the anger? I am not prejudiced against transexuals either so have nothing against you.

  • @davidgrahamscott In terms of her voice which seems to be your biggest opinion, sorry but until you get recognition and that much respect like she and her voice have gotten then maybe you need to reevaluate what level you're on because it is DEFINITELY not above hers. I'm angry because I am sick of you people that think its okay to come and bash an artist. If you don't like them, stay away its simple. I also don't give a flying fuck who you're prejudice towards.

  • @krazycookie317 I said I am not prejudiced against transexuals so I have nothing against you and refuse to argue with you. As you would probably put it, 'capiche'?

  • So sad, so brilliant, so beautiful, so amzing.

  • ;(

  • What the hell is she doing?

  • @RobotModel790 just go watch the movie -_-

  • Lars Von Trier, Thank you very much for this powerful and brilliant film, so depressing.

  • This is so depressing...it has been years since I watched the movie and I'm fighting the tears...fuck :(

  • i love bjork and this scene was so tormenting to watch...specially if you already knew what was gonna happen like i did....and i totally appreciate her art value....i love her to pieces and i love gaga!

  • @illNeverBeOkay i really agree. this scene has me fighting back tears every time :(

  • Goosebumps when she say 79

  • Thumbs up if you watched the movie and thought, "Thank god that happened!" Because if it dident it would just be torture to your mind, and make you cry out your heart. :/

  • I got goosebumps. O_o

  • I just shat myself

  • still in the echo of Bjork greatness ! that's happen when you've waited for a decade and finally get it ...

  • amazing movie and acting. thank you for this movie a breath of fresh air from the Hollywood bullshit

  • GOD I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!

  • @jartsa80 Asshole. You probably have never seen the movie. If you want hater notes, I SUGGEST YOU SHUT YOUR FUCKING MOUTH!

  • amazing!

  • The only person in the word who can make counting sound elegant.

  • Oh man I cant believe how nice that police woman is

  • I like how she says 69 and the man and her are hugging in the bed.

  • I was a mess watching this film. It's amazing.

  • @zackspoz I wasn't until it ended. then came the tears. heh.

  • It's amazing how she could make such a beautiful song by only only counting numbers.

  • Lars von trien is pure genius

  • @MarkAlkalinE ok.

  • @MarkAlkalinE No, it isn't!. One of the best ones!

  • This is the part I hated. Everytime you see it, you hope the ending will change. I know weird, but you wish!!

  • This movie is so good, powerful and painful. It goes under my skin, so painful to watch it again. It is that good!

  • ive just finished watching it.... i still cant breathe and my poor heart is going like a drum... damn shes talented.... damn...

  • critics who say this movie is bad are just being stuck up bitches, they just don't get it. Immaturity.

  • I love this album and this film. I'm listening this song when I'm going somwhere on my phone. It is incredible feeling.

  • this song is the hardest ever for me to watch..it brings back too many emotions

  • 2 me the hardest is "The next to the last song."

  • this is one of the hardesst secuence that i have ever seen in my live

  • ;_;

  • Art value of only her counting of numbers has like a billion times more than that retards songs, like lady gagas, britney spears, tokiohotels ones or whatever..

  • @seksisempanze other artists just count to make the phrase match up in the end or make it rhyme.

  • @seksisempanze thanks you

  • incredible, she is counting steps, and is a powerful and beautiful song

  • yeah, it's a great song. I heard the album before I saw the movie and didn't realize the significance of the lyrics. Once I saw the movie I liked the song even more.

I suppose Selmasongs is actually my favorite Bjork album.

  • I love Bjork

  • That police woman is so so so sweet.

  • We're doing a marching show about this

  • as did cadets in 2005

  • Wow She can sing furniture assembly manual and make it sound amazing!

  • u've stopped the movie right before she whispers 107. shame on u :-)

  • Bought the movie last week and going to watch it in some of the next days I´m really looking forward to it

  • Personne ne peut dire vivre ce film.

Puisque les aveugles ne peuvent pas les regarder.

    Quel concept...

  • jeff tain watts- detained at the blue note

  • excelente rola, mi vida se ha ido y solo su recuerdo qeda, junto a sus cenizas

  • My best friend told me not to watch this movie, but since I adore Bjork, and loved the soundtrack, I didn't listen to him. It literally ripped my heart out, and showed it to me. I haven't watched it since. It's not suprising Bjork spent sometime in a mental hospital after filming this. She can't act, she can only become. Who knows the demons she found and had to wrestle with. I'm still haunted by this movie, and always will be.

  • Whats the movie about?

  • It's about an east-european woman who comes to america. She and her son are sick and are losing there sight. So while she's getting blind she works hard in a factory so her son can get an operation and keep his sights.

  • that's why she hardly ever appears in media anymore

  • @BrigettSparkles she spent time in a mental hospital?

  • @rococoness Very similar except this was a prision ward.

  • i really want to watch this movie.

  • This is heartbreaking.

  • weird thing about this film, is that i find myself watching the music scenes, and all the scenes that are happy, but i can never bring my self to watch the whole thing through ever again

  • We drove to a theatre 30 minutes away to watch this. This was the saddest movie WE HAVE EVER SEEN. IT RIPS YOUR HEART OUT. It helps if you love Bjork. Everyone stayed in their seats for the credits...not to watch the credits...just to compose themselves. You were either crying or sobbing. My wife was sobbing. I was crying. This is Europe getting pissed off at the death penalty. I am from Texas...kill killers but leave Bjork out of it...kill killers...whip them with canes...then kill.

  • I live in Texas and I agree. She had a motive though, it was all for her son, but she still couldn't do anything about it due to lack of money.. or rather, she DID have money.. it was just for her sons operation, and she couldn't risk her son being blind so she wouldn't be hung. I think I may have very well done the same thing if I were in Selmas shoes

  • love this movie but i do have to agree that it is so intense i dont know if i can handle watching it again. i am really glad i watched it though

  • If I knew I probably wouldn't watch this film. It totally destroyed me...

  • I couldn't watch the last scene. It was killing me.

  • I left the theater before it ended as well, her story went on forever and ever :)

  • m enkanto..esta mujer es muy especial!!!!

    La adoro

  • si, ella es muy especial

  • grr... such a fucked up movie but there is still so much of it that i liked. like how all the noises around her had musical quality

  • why does the soundtrack sounds different? lol XD

    .......

    but great movie!!!

when i first saw that bjork was hanged by the neck i cried... a lot Y_Y

  • this is gut wrenching

  • I saw the movie once. The experience was so intense that I can't see it again. It is overwhelming. If you haven't seen Dancer in the Dark, prepare yourself and watch it. It might not change your life, but you will be touched for your whole life.

  • I thought it was an incredibly powerful film. I agree that anyone that has'nt seen it should!!

  • In a way, I LIKE knowing I'm one of the few that UNDERSTAND and LOVE the oddness of Bjork, her PURE GENIUS, and the magnificence of this movie and soundtrack.

Poignant, DISTURBING, angst-ridden and beautiful all at once...

Someday. Someday, this exquisite work of ART and sound will be given its due, much the same way it took a century or so for the masses to finally embrace Mozart... Van Gogh...

  • Selma Seems So Sweet :) We All Love Selma

  • this video was good

    this video was good ER

  • This is the most expressive movie I have ever seen. Very very deep feelings.

  • is it real that from the cell to the execution place is 107 steps?

  • this movie made me cry so much

  • that's the most beautiful face i've ever seen on a woman...

  • This part always sent a chill down my spine. Especially the part where it shows clips of the stairs... like she's looking back... and knowing this is where it all ends.

  • Chilling and beautiful. One of the best films of our era...

  • ohhh so saaaaaaaaad! T_______________T

  • Damn..it ended a second too early!

  • Beautiful film. Bjork's performance was amazing, brought a tear to my eye. Love her songs too.

  • no it's not!! you stupido bastardo!! eee

  • why?

  • Try that again in English please.

  • this movie was a beutiful movie my mother cryed too it i love it and i cryed when she died for her son

  • This is nothing short of the most amazing thing I have ever seen/heard on film.

  • i cried for about half an hour at this film. and i don't mean a few tears rolling down my cheeks; my mom had to come and see what was wrong.

this has got to be my favourite film ever :)

  • Me too, I couldn't believe it.

  • This film is absolutly amazing. Very emotional (especially this part for me) and Bjork is a true artist and performer!

I recommend you watch this movie. But tissues are a MUST.

  • so... this is a movie? called "Dancer in the Dark?" and that's Bjork? can u fill me in here??? i didn't no she had a movie

  • Yes Bjork plays the main charactor Selma.

I don't want to do a "spolier" so I highly recommend you buy/rent this movie. Very moving and smiply brilliant.

Its a musical really, about a woman whose going blind.

  • she also did a movie sometime in the late 80's or early 90's called the juniper tree- based on the grimms brother's story

  • This is her imagination, retard. He's referring to the death penalty.

  • if you love bjork u have to see "so broken" here on youtube, is her greatest performance ever.

  • The saddest thing about it is things like that happen as we speak and people are too dumb to realize that we have no free will, that there is no good and evil...so they feel justified about doing what they do. They don't even question it. 60% of Americans support the death penalty.

  • one of the best movies i've ever seen

  • this scene made me cry

  • This film is wonderful!! The saddest ever... Congratulations to Björk, she's much more talented than I ever thought!!!

  • I love this scene. The whole time, you're hoping for a miracle... :-\

  • at this point of the film... i'm already crying... 10 minutes after the end... still crying.. ITS GREAT!

  • Chilling and beautiful. One of the best films of our era...

  • i would respect your opinion if i was able to understand the broken grammar you put forth.

  • Are you drunk?

  • I love this, whatever the listeners politics are, you can't deny it's beauty.

  • Beautiful.

  • It's horrible to see how beauty of life and joy goes to an end like that. I wish I could save her.

  • The crap-tastic world we live in has caused your negative outlook which makes the world more crap-tastic. It is a horrible circle.

  • Bjork is amazing..I love the look on her face when she's dancing. And I love the arrangement on this song.

  • 数字言ってるだけなのに妖艶で美しいすぐるよ

  • That director hates the human race... You can't stand to watch that film twice, but to watch Bjork perform like that is amazing...

  • This movie actually changed my life. I didn't sleep for a few days and now when I watch scenes from it I still get choked up. This scene is one where you want to press pause and believe that you stopped the hanging.

  • oh man - you cut the clip just before the most heart-wrenching moment . . . so anticlimatic . . . horrible!

  • no sense of pace

  • Probably the saddest scene of the saddest movie ever.

  • The 'musical' scene after... now THAT's the saddest... *sighs* I do love this movie... Bjork was simply amazing in it.

  • heartbreaking. the whole time this scene is unfolding, you pray for a miracle.

  • thats horrid... i hated this film (loved bjork) but why upset people like this

  • yeah lets just make will ferrel movies and an endless shrek series so that nobody will ever have to be challenged by a film

  • ahhh yuck no... (your sarcasim noted) but really i felt that a random savage execution didnt work at all. it doesnt challenge because its out of place and unbelievable. however your right we must be challenged

  • This was definitely the most emotional scene for me. Very touching performance by Björk. I wasn't so impressed by the movie as a whole.

  • Saw the film made me cry too!! She should've gotten an Oscar nomination I know she won the Cannes for best actress.

  • This movie made cry so fucking much. I had tissues and everything.

  • This film made me shake....its brilliantly done. THanks Bjork

  • I bought the Sountrack to Dancer in the Dark WAY before I seen the film and in doing so (having the great imagination that I do) I was a little disappointed, but I still bought the DVD!

It's a very touching film and the music is PHENOMENAL!

    I just LOVE Bjork!

    ^_~

  • Wow. I hear ya!!!

Although I am in Australia and can't find the dvd anywhere yet to buy it >:S

  • I saw it on SBS eh ;)

  • omg, this gives me the chills every single time...

  • this movie made my cry so much that i have to cover my eyes when i went to school the following day.... i love this film!!!

  • ha ha. I know exactly how you feel. I sobbed when I saw this. and I mean SOBBED!

  • I cried so loud as I saw this in the cinema

Love Lars von Trier and Björk

  • Thanks i have the music for this my band did this and the other songs from this movie for our marching show ^_^

  • this part, is one of the most saddest things i ever saw. dancer in the drk its just amazing.

  • Those 107 steps really break your heart.

  • was this as she was walking to be hanged? ):

  • yeah, she says earlier on in the film that it takes 107 steps to walk to your death
