Sometimes the S class Chocobos will have speeds close to 200 and will actually beat Teioh themselves! It's really fun to come in first and Teioh in last. :D
@ulillillia Huh. I may be thinking about a lower speed chocobo that I had. I do remember the S class racers being about 20 faster and teioh being slower than the rest and me winning and him losing. It's been a while and I'm a lttle fuzzy on the details.
I've won S-class races with a regular yellow chocobo with a speed of only 97. You'd think such a chocobo can't win against those with 130, but you'd be surprised. And yes, Teioh coming in last is quite interesting to watch. It's actually easier to beat Teioh in the long course than the short one and the R1+R2 button combo is not required either.
Sylkis greens don't affect every stat. The reagen greens don't either. I usually give 49 reagen and 30 sylkis greens, selling mastered all materia for fast gil (using the forest around Mideel and double- and triple-growth items for fast AP).
You need to raise the "they're getting along better" to the max. Also, remember to switch to manual control - it's annoying that it's always automatic control by default. If I remember, I give something like 49 or 50 reagen greens and 30 or so sylkis. It may be expensive, but by mastering "all" materia and selling the mastered materia, you'll get tons of gil. This is how I got over a billion gil.
@gokudabomb1 buy a few Sylkis greens from chocobo sage, use W-Item duplicate glitch during battle and max them to 99. feed each chocobo roughly 25-30 before racing to max their stats. rinse, lather, repeat. no need to waste your money on greens this way. and like ulililia said, use manual(by pressing select) and (R1+L1+square and take inside turns) if ur chocobo is having trouble on its own. no need to dash most of the time
Reagen greens are also needed, not just sylkis. The W-item glitch is the best way if you don't have much in the way of money. Mastering all materia is the easiest way to get money - just fight a lot in the forest around Mideel and sell the resulting mastered alls (replace the mastered ones with the new ones (just make sure you don't get too much materia or you'll lose them permanently). Sprinting is actually useless - there is no difference in speed and you go through stamina 3 times faster.
@ulillillia i dont find reagen greens of any use for leveling a chocobo at all with Sylkis greens. i'd also like to correct, my controller is actually R1+R2, not L1. Mastering 1 all materia is a great start for initial buying but after W-Item 99% of any item needed further in the game can be duplicated with the trick thus Gil isnt really needed. Youre correct, if your chocobo has stamina it usually wont need to sprint at all. Theres a chart for greens stats somewhere if youd like to look.
@ulillillia one of the lower level greens is said to raise "acceleration" but like... who cares? lol. when ur choco is 176, or even 140+ everything else is too easy. jus felt like making conversation :D
@krazykyuubilv2 yeah, i actually recorded myself playing the game, and on my video it looked the same as this. my bad! lol. it just looks different when playing in person, i guess
176 is the fastest a Chocobo can go on the PC version. I know this because I have a save game editor called 'Jenova'. There is the option to edit your chocobos. And the fastest speed it will let you set is 176. This may not be the case for the Ps1 version, but I find it unlikely that they are different in that sense.
Ever thought of using a hex editor to change the speed? 176 may be the maximum in the game, but, it may be 255 (unsigned char) or even 999. Of course, finding the data is another subject - look for a byte near that chocobo's name (the string will always have a "00" byte after it.) containing "B0" (assuming the exact value is used). If speed is actually showing up as 5632, then there's a 32x scale-up, used to enhance precision, then you'll need to calculate it.
@krazykyuubilv2 Only a year? I was right about it being uncommonly known though. I could only find one Youtub video and it only had 80 views. Are there any serious differences besides the characters being taller?
@krazykyuubilv2 Ignore my last comment. I just watched a comparison and figured out the one I watched was a texture hack. Im still wondering what differences there are, if any, though.
@Milomia9 the only major positive difference was the battle graphics were better. However, the music would play MIDI on a comp, and most comps made it sound shitty. No other graphics improved, in fact, the FMV sequences looked worse. But all in all those differences were actually minimal, so there's not too much different. I personally think it looks amazing on a PSP.
@krazykyuubilv2 Good. I hate it when they make completely different versons of games so you have to decide which one you like better or get all of them.
FF 7 fanboys have such a narrow prspective. the turn base fights are boring and heve no action in them. ff 7 looks like crap(even when it orginally realesed) cut scences are not the games graphics nor are the pre render background you cant even interact with that background cause its 2d. ff7s story and characters were compared to other games crap. so ff7 fanboys admit it, get, over it, that slap yourself 1 time for every ridiculous claim youve made about ff7 being 1 of the best games ever
this looks different somehow...is it on the psp? that might be it...it doesn't look like my ps1 version to me for some reason...but dang, that is one FAST chocobo! never got mine that fast, i don't think
@ulillillia yeah, i don't have nor want a PSP either, lol. maybe it looks diff 'cause it's on the computer or something. it just looks smoother somehow, less blocky and glitchy...well not glitchy, fidgety or something, than mine. i got mine when it first came out back in '97, the original version, not the greatest hits remake of it.in yours cloud moves a bit smoother, and when the chocobo runs, he looks more level on the ground, where as mine looks like his feet almost aren't touching the ground
@flashhasonewing PSP version has no differences to the PS1. it was just ported to PSN, that's all. I've played PS1 version and I'm currently playing the PSP port. There's almost no difference; I'd say that the graphics look good really just because it's on a smaller and high resolution screen, so the pixels are not too enlarged.
You can be over 99% certain that, if it's a handheld-exclusive game (like the PSP or DS), you'd have done it before I have. I don't use nor like handheld systems.
@ulillillia I don't really like the handheld stuff either. These vids are really great though. My fastest chocobo is 175 I kept trying to make if fast through breeding and proper training but I just can't seem to get another chocobo faster or as fast as 175.
this is just that i have a chocobo with 176 kph speed too but making generation makes it running at same speed than when it sprint and perhaps faster. if i could capture my ps1 id show you mine going really faster.
Your chocobo is slow not about the speed but you can gain far more speed by making new generations of chocobos, (2 golds for a new one). Mine can clear the first race in something like 20s
No and I won't be able to for another 2 or so years - the cost of the PS3 has to go down a lot. FF14 is out of the question as it's online-only. This makes FF15 questionable, though I don't see any details on what it might be.
i used to play this game and i used to dominate just like this even in s class... i never thought it was a big deal i just thought the gold chocobo was just unbeatable
And you still beat the black chocobo that has 193km speed and over 1000 stamina, and you leave in far behind. Great job man. Dont know how thats possible but good job
There's a 6-character limitation so that name, of 10 characters, cannot be used. It still can't for characters even though they have a 9-character limitation.
You can mate the same two chocobos as many times as you want, but you'll have to wait about 20 minutes or something before they can mate again. Race the newborn to the highest class you can get then try mating them again. If you can't either do some random battles in the forest by Mideel to master materia (alls work wonders for the gil, since you get 40 gil for every AP upon mastering one (240 AP means 9600 gil and with several alls, gil is ultra fast to get, useful since breeding is pricy).
Umm you dont have to wait 20 mins to breed a chocobo. It goes by the number of battles you get in to. That alone varies but I would say nor more than 10 battles and you would be good to go for another breeding.
It's actually not the number of battles at all. I've had cases where I've done zero battles and still got it, but spent a while longer with the races. I go all the way to class S, even with standard chocobos, if I have any chance at doing so to start with. After racing to the highest class I can reach, I immediately return to the chocobo farm and breed. It almost always works at this point. If it doesn't, in that odd case, then I do a few battles in the forest around Mideel to pass time.
When how do you explain that after all the times I palyed this game and bred chocobos that I was able to breed again in easily less than 10 mins a piece?
I was messing around with breeding a couple years ago. If you breed a gold with a black, river, or mountain, you get one of the three, but at least as fast as a gold if I remember correctly.
damn this mini game is addictive, i spend a day just to train up my chocobo and race them. Without the help of selling that master ALL materia for 1.4 million gil, i think i would have to spend another day just to earn money to buy those greens
... and for quick gil, there are two places to do this. The forest around Mideel is the best prior to disk 3. On disk 3, if you have W-item, then it's the left path in the Northern Cave where you'll find magic pots (1000 AP each for potentially 2 million gil) and movers (2400 AP for the battle, potentially 7 million gil).
i'm still on disc 2, and i play like 5-6 hours in the mideel area fighting those sea worm, but the money just used up so fast, i'm glad it's all over now
Sea worm isn't the best. The forest surrounding Mideel is the best. You get 260 AP per battle on average instead of 200, though sea worm is easy. Just make sure you have protection against sleep status before dealing with the enemies I'm suggesting - crysales causes sleep status.
well, it's the time factor that's my first priority in farming the gils and AP, and the sea worm only took around 30 seconds to finish, so i consider it a better choice.
And an update, I just tried the Knight of Rounds materia, and omg, it kills bosses in one blow, suddenly i felt the time i put to get the gold chocobo is worthing it
KoTR is especially useful when used on Ruby Weapon, which has about a million HP. Cloud's omnislash only does about 13,000 damage to it, and that's with both a maxed strength and maxed luck (the latter for frequent criticals). KoTR is defense-ignoring which allows you to do 9999 damage quite often (max magic for that, done with "magic plus" materia) and 13 strikes of that means roughly a total of 125,000 HP damage (less than expected because it doesn't always do 9999 damage).
Physical attacks only do 800 damage (if you haven't seen the video where I use Cloud's "Omnislash", you should). KOTR is the only way to deal any significant damage to it - 130,000 per cast as opposed to a mere 12,000 with omnislash with a maxed strength and luck.
well there is a way to penetrate his thick armour.
several in fact
1: get ur hp @ 7777 and every hit on every monster will do 7777 dmg
2: like u said KOTR (but i found that boring :P)
3: hero drinks
4: barrets overflow (thats what its called right?) get materia with as much AP as possible on his ultimate WEAPON and you deal massive damage, even to ruby
5: vincents overflow (you need to kill a whole lot of monsters with vincent, he alledgedly gets stronger as he kills more monsters
Don't you mean the "instant win" one? I never use Cait Sith's level 2 (and oddly the highest) limit. I prefer his level 1 limit far, far more since it's less risky. In fact, I otherwise never use Cait Sith, unless it's forced upon by the story.
I rarely use Caith Sith, but when i don't feel like actually fighting the weapons i get him out and use his instant death slot row. If you press Square multiple times you can slow down the slots and actually pick whatever symbols you want once u get the grip of it. My record so far is 11 "Game Over"s in a row until i screwed up =P
Yeah I do the same, I always beat games/bosses and such "normally" before I "cheat" or what we should call it. But since ive done it so many times I usually do it this way when I play the game today. But killing them normally without KOTR and hero dringks and such is definetely nicer ^^
quite frankly, i really disliked how easy emerald and ruby are.
they are hard if u dont understand their attacks and their weaknesses... (for example: air stomp from emerald always killed me cuz i stock up on materia ofc.. but u understand the attack, and u pwn the dude)
the only REALLY hard boss i've fought in any of the FF's i've played (and remember atm) are in FFX.. namely penance.. and the dark magus sisters possibly qualify
I find that something like 50 reagen greens and 30 sylkis greens are what you need (I don't recall the exact numbers but it's something like this. Reagen greens improve top speed and stamina while sylkis greens affect intelligence (for a higher top pacing speed). The zeio nut appears to raise the maximums for all stats (stolen from goblins). Racing each chocobo to class S provides the best results (you don't have to win any S class races).
I've bred a 184 gold chocobo and a 174 black choco! it's so fast the pacing alone with both beat tieoh everytime... i don't have to press anything!... now i've been playing this game from 1997-2009 so thats alot of breeding+ not saving & redoing bad results trial & error, but yeah.... gold saucer is so far the most ADDICTING ff minigame place EVER... i hope someday they improve upon it in HD and more dificulty (all opinion of course no offense) i always wanted ZELDA: OCARINAS fishing in FF ALSO
Reagen and Sylkis greens are what I use and 999 stamina just seems to be the norm. Even without the stamina-raising tactic, just max out intelligence (the Sylkis greens), speed up and avoid sprinting and even with the long course, I'm easily able to win B rank with a basic yellow chocobo. S rank with Teioh is just about as easy with gold chocobos.
i am positive i had a black chocobo with 400 and something speed. i have no idea how i got it, may have been a glitch. but it was so odd! iv never been ablee to get it again.
176 km/h is actually 109 1/3 mph. At 8762 mph, you'd be fried to a crisp due to atmospheric friction (let alone the effects of the pressure wave in front of you since air can't move fast enough). Of course, in video games, anything can happen - it's however it's set in the programming.
weird....i did some weird breeding and i have a river that goes 162kph and then i got my gold...i was like damn this is gonna b even better and it only had 150....the weird thing is, mine runs WAY faster than the river and looks like its just as fast or faster than yours.......dont quite understand it.
With enough skill, you could beat Teioh with the ordinary yellow chocobos. It's tough, best done with the long course, but it's still possible. With a river chocobo (which, due to a bug I've known about for a long time climbs better) or a mountain chocobo (goes through the space and water scenes unaffected), I'm much more likely to win. I practically never sprint because sprinting is just as fast as running at top speed. With the black or gold chocobos, I'm guaranteed to win.
i agree i beaten teioh with my yellow chocobo she's 118 with like 669 stamina and i could only beat them with the long course no matter what i try on the short one
I've even beaten Teioh in the short course. To do that, you have to know how to block and keep blocking, especially at the end. I only get it for pure luck.
yeah i tried blocking also but i guess i suck at block lol but ill keep trying and another thing i finaly breeded my own fine and mighty golden chocobo with 149 speed i think and 999 stamina and ill try to increase his speed to the max
It's tough to block, since it's very hard to know where your opponent is coming from. The zeio nut, from my experiences, seems to be the best for raising maximum speed.
Well, you can use it on any chocobo for major max speed boost. I don't know, however, if you can use this to mate two "wonderful" chocobos then use that for getting the gold.
what did to get my gold chocobo i just breeded a black one made it to class a then caught a wonderful chocobo and also got that to class a fed them a zeio nut and mated them the first try i got the golden chocobo
god... the hours i spent at the races to get my gold chocobo.......10 hours of racing and farming ftw!!!!! i love spending 3 hours making chocobos breed and raising them to s-ranks!!! kick ass.... sort of..
you named it Goldie like me when I had but still own it by right as My bro stole it when he said he was getting it himself and I rented it to him til he got it but he did not listen to me and now owes me a lot of money as it was perfectly good con and was from a boot sale so yeah my own game is still in his hands
It's highly unlikely you'll get game defects from scratched disks. I believe that this is because the game and/or CD reader uses a checksum system - if the checksum doesn't check out (pun intended), a retry is done. It's apparently why I didn't get to see the ending of FF8 in full, the one with the credits showing - it took an hour to scroll the credits one screen, 15 minutes at one time to load 4 frames' worth....
I essentially never saw the Olympics, except brief bits on CNN Headline News. I don't really know what they're like. The likely cause is that I have absolutely no idea what channel they are on (they're not 204, 246, or 269 through 298, on DirecTV).
lol i loved chocobo racing. i made a save file for that purpose lol. i practicaly lived in gold saucer. :) i was even so sad as to get one of each colour at the highest stats lol. (and then a spare gold one for globe trotting lol)
this might just be me but when i had those stats with my gold chocobo i found that normal running was faster than sprinting. is that just me or am i right?
Actually, normal running and sprinting are just as fast, or at least, so close to it that I can't tell a difference. You're better off just pressing [] to max speed then just go through the entire race like this, cutting corners.
A trillion is a 13-digit number. Count the digits again - I have 10. That's 1.4 billion. The theoretical limit is 4,294,967,295, a 32-bit unsigned integer. If, for some odd reason, it's signed, then it's only 2,147,483,647 - passing that will answer the question. It would have to be a highly-unlikely 64-bit integer before gil can even get into the trillions (limited to 18 4/9 quintillion, a 20-digit number, if unsigned, but 9 2/9 quintillion if signed (a 19-digit number)).
I can't raise my chocobos speed any higher than 150, all i can raise is stamina, and i think that's around 690-697. what should i do? i've fed him all the greens available. and it's a gold chocobo, s rank
Get the reagen and sylkis greens from the Chocobo Sage somewhere north of Bone Village. These raise speed and stamina very quickly. While they cost more per unit, they're, overall, just as worthy as the cheap gyshal grens, but it's a whole lot faster to max the stats and the overall cost to max them is less.
i've gotten a chocobo (a green one) that had 999 stamina and a top speed of 196. wow maybe it was a glitch or something but it makes the other s rank chocobos look like fat retards.
I think I have this in the description. I've known about this well before you posted this comment. By pressing [] to increase the speed, it's often a much better way. Pacing is more important and sprinting seems to have a minuscule effect on the speed but wastes stamina. You could actually, using this method, finish the race easily without the need of the R1+R2 method and still have plenty of stamina to spare.
its not very hard to get a 170+ speed choco i have a 190 speed with 999 stam i just got 1 gold got it to s then mated with a black and then mated the 2 gold when both s till max speed
if boosting appears to have a minuscule effect then you haven't gone as in depth into breeding as me. there are essentially two kinds of chocobo in this regard. the "top speed" of some chocobos is reached with normal running, while others get a significant speed boost from holding square. when i played i had a set of boosters and a set of non boosters i would interbreed every other generation using random nuts each try. the 182 black i had was inbred from the boost family with a carob nut.
then that chocobo, and prolly many others of its family tree, were bred for high base speed rather than high boost speed. i was under the impression that the billion different nuts might play into this, but it was pointless to do the extensive tests manually when its so popular that someone else would likely get around to it at some point.
also, since u have 999 stamina and 150+ speed, and know the trick to regen it, you should be able to boost the entire race without running out.
however like i was saying, some chocobos reach top speed with normal walking and boosting made some of my birds appear to go slightly slower than they otherwise would!
at a certain point (when the stage can't keep up with the chocobo for instance) it becomes impossible to tell without stop watching it in real life and doing some km to miles conversions yourself, rofl.
I wish I had FF7 still I bought a copy at a pawn shop a few years back for like $20 and now its to scratched to make it past air buster on the first disk or to start a new file lol I might try cleaning it with toothpaste and see if it works then I know it worked on guitar hero for me lol.
I've played it on PSX and I still have my PC version after all these years. For the PC, version, you need the 1.02 patch, the chocobo racing patch (I think it might be included in the 1.02 patch) and the movie patch if your movies play upside down. I got a Nyko Airflow controller from a few years ago but you can buy the similar controllers online. Run it in Windows 95 Compatibility. I even got this to work on my laptop with another patch.
Wow, that was awesome! You should try to get your Aeris Limit Break to lv. 4, it's really fun to use. I had it, where I had trained to level 47 for Cloud Nanaki and Aeris, and Aeris had her 4th limit. I wish I could show it, now that I'm starting to record videos and such, but it's long gone now =/
Anyway, off-topic question, what do you use to record? I think I read it somewhere on your channel, I'm not sure, because my videos were recorded using my lousy webcam.
Webcams, digital cameras, camcorders, etc. are terrible ways to get video. They result in very bad quality. What you need is a TV tuner. These run from $15 on the cheap end to several hundred on the expensive end. From research, it appears as if you should get something with software encoding such as the TV2000 XP Expert. If you go with hardware, you're going to get lag which makes playing games impossible unless you use a splitter and play the game on a normal TV instead.
The greens essentially don't make a difference. Even the very slow gyshal (gizzard) greens won't affect the maximum speed (spending an hour feeding, buying, feeding, etc.) any better than reagan greens. I've done experiments to find this out. I typically give 70 reagan (for speed and stamina) and 20 sylkis (for intelligence). Reagan and sylkis are bought from the chocobo sage. I have strong intentions on making a video of this (unlikely to be narrated unless the audio problem is resolved).

@ulillillia if you go to the chocobo sage and by silkhas greens you can. mine is 193 kph with 999 stamina. teioh nothing compared to me.

How do I get more speed?
I have used 30 Greens it cost 5000 gil per.
I only get stamina now :(
Hambugenable 5 months ago
Sylkis greens don't affect every stat. The reagen greens don't either. I usually give 49 reagen and 30 sylkis greens, selling mastered all materia for fast gil (using the forest around Mideel and double- and triple-growth items for fast AP).
ulillillia 4 months ago
Both my current Black and Gold Chocobos have 999 stamina. Is that common for those chocobos, or are they just genetically superior haha.
ironmaidenforlife123 5 months ago
Even regular yellow chocobos can easily have 999 stamina. I get it all the time.

Reagen and sylkis greens, if I recall. Only the chocobo sage has these. You'll find his house enclosed by mountains in the far north.

@ulillillia fed mine 8 sylkis greens each
they prefer the left side of the track :P
how much did you give them?

You need to raise the "they're getting along better" to the max. Also, remember to switch to manual control - it's annoying that it's always automatic control by default. If I remember, I give something like 49 or 50 reagen greens and 30 or so sylkis. It may be expensive, but by mastering "all" materia and selling the mastered materia, you'll get tons of gil.

Milomia9 7 months ago
@Milomia9 PS release was 97, PC was 98, PSN 09.
krazykyuubilv2 7 months ago
@krazykyuubilv2 Only a year? I was right about it being uncommonly known though. I could only find one Youtub video and it only had 80 views. Are there any serious differences besides the characters being taller?
Milomia9 7 months ago
@krazykyuubilv2 Ignore my last comment. I just watched a comparison and figured out the one I watched was a texture hack. Im still wondering what differences there are, if any, though.
Milomia9 7 months ago
@Milomia9 the only major positive difference was the battle graphics were better. However, the music would play MIDI on a comp, and most comps made it sound shitty. No other graphics improved, in fact, the FMV sequences looked worse. But all in all those differences were actually minimal, so there's not too much different. I personally think it looks amazing on a PSP.
krazykyuubilv2 7 months ago
@krazykyuubilv2 Good. I hate it when they make completely different versons of games so you have to decide which one you like better or get all of them.

FF 7 fanboys have such a narrow prspective. the turn base fights are boring and heve no action in them. ff 7 looks like crap(even when it orginally realesed) cut scences are not the games graphics nor are the pre render background you cant even interact with that background cause its 2d. ff7s story and characters were compared to other games crap. so ff7 fanboys admit it, get, over it, that slap yourself 1 time for every ridiculous claim youve made about ff7 being 1 of the best games ever
hoho12789 10 months ago
this looks different somehow...is it on the psp? that might be it...it doesn't look like my ps1 version to me for some reason...but dang, that is one FAST chocobo! never got mine that fast, i don't think
flashhasonewing 1 year ago
This is the PS1 version. I've never seen the PSP version, since I don't have nor want a PSP, so I can't tell what differences there are.
ulillillia 1 year ago
@ulillillia yeah, i don't have nor want a PSP either, lol. maybe it looks diff 'cause it's on the computer or something. it just looks smoother somehow, less blocky and glitchy...well not glitchy, fidgety or something, than mine. i got mine when it first came out back in '97, the original version, not the greatest hits remake of it.in yours cloud moves a bit smoother, and when the chocobo runs, he looks more level on the ground, where as mine looks like his feet almost aren't touching the ground
flashhasonewing 1 year ago
It's likely the difference between your TV's settings (brightness, contrast, etc.) and your computer monitor's settings.
ulillillia 1 year ago
@flashhasonewing PSP version has no differences to the PS1. it was just ported to PSN, that's all. I've played PS1 version and I'm currently playing the PSP port. There's almost no difference; I'd say that the graphics look good really just because it's on a smaller and high resolution screen, so the pixels are not too enlarged.
krazykyuubilv2 7 months ago
OMG you did this too!! wow everytime I think about doing something you've already done it.
KamuiJr 1 year ago
You can be over 99% certain that, if it's a handheld-exclusive game (like the PSP or DS), you'd have done it before I have. I don't use nor like handheld systems.
ulillillia 1 year ago
@ulillillia I don't really like the handheld stuff either. These vids are really great though. My fastest chocobo is 175 I kept trying to make if fast through breeding and proper training but I just can't seem to get another chocobo faster or as fast as 175.
KamuiJr 1 year ago
this is just that i have a chocobo with 176 kph speed too but making generation makes it running at same speed than when it sprint and perhaps faster. if i could capture my ps1 id show you mine going really faster.
Try this you will see :)
XxBeatexX 1 year ago
Your chocobo is slow not about the speed but you can gain far more speed by making new generations of chocobos, (2 golds for a new one). Mine can clear the first race in something like 20s
XxBeatexX 1 year ago
176 is the true maximum speed - no chocobo, except Teioh's, can go faster than that.
ulillillia 1 year ago
@XxBeatexX can u really breed two gold chocobos and get a faster gold chocobo?
SixFootEightTao 1 year ago
Have you tried Final Fantasy 13?
LatestUFOSightings 1 year ago
No and I won't be able to for another 2 or so years - the cost of the PS3 has to go down a lot. FF14 is out of the question as it's online-only. This makes FF15 questionable, though I don't see any details on what it might be.

I don't recall but, can you mate the same two chocobos twice?
aleemone 2 years ago
You can mate the same two chocobos as many times as you want, but you'll have to wait about 20 minutes or something before they can mate again. Race the newborn to the highest class you can get then try mating them again. If you can't either do some random battles in the forest by Mideel to master materia (alls work wonders for the gil, since you get 40 gil for every AP upon mastering one (240 AP means 9600 gil and with several alls, gil is ultra fast to get, useful since breeding is pricy).
ulillillia 2 years ago
Umm you dont have to wait 20 mins to breed a chocobo. It goes by the number of battles you get in to. That alone varies but I would say nor more than 10 battles and you would be good to go for another breeding.
fade2black001 1 year ago
It's actually not the number of battles at all. I've had cases where I've done zero battles and still got it, but spent a while longer with the races. I go all the way to class S, even with standard chocobos, if I have any chance at doing so to start with. After racing to the highest class I can reach, I immediately return to the chocobo farm and breed. It almost always works at this point. If it doesn't, in that odd case, then I do a few battles in the forest around Mideel to pass time.
ulillillia 1 year ago
When how do you explain that after all the times I palyed this game and bred chocobos that I was able to breed again in easily less than 10 mins a piece?
fade2black001 1 year ago
@ulillillia
It's neither of those things, it's how many times you enter a new area.
Say you have 4 areas, A, B, C and D
You can't just go A-B-A-B-A-B-A-B. You need to at least go A-B-C-D-C-B-A a couple of times...or something like that.

I was messing around with breeding a couple years ago. If you breed a gold with a black, river, or mountain, you get one of the three, but at least as fast as a gold if I remember correctly.
cwwitchkyobi 2 years ago
damn this mini game is addictive, i spend a day just to train up my chocobo and race them. Without the help of selling that master ALL materia for 1.4 million gil, i think i would have to spend another day just to earn money to buy those greens
hoyun 2 years ago
... and for quick gil, there are two places to do this. The forest around Mideel is the best prior to disk 3. On disk 3, if you have W-item, then it's the left path in the Northern Cave where you'll find magic pots (1000 AP each for potentially 2 million gil) and movers (2400 AP for the battle, potentially 7 million gil).
ulillillia 2 years ago
i'm still on disc 2, and i play like 5-6 hours in the mideel area fighting those sea worm, but the money just used up so fast, i'm glad it's all over now
hoyun 2 years ago
Sea worm isn't the best. The forest surrounding Mideel is the best. You get 260 AP per battle on average instead of 200, though sea worm is easy. Just make sure you have protection against sleep status before dealing with the enemies I'm suggesting - crysales causes sleep status.
ulillillia 2 years ago
well, it's the time factor that's my first priority in farming the gils and AP, and the sea worm only took around 30 seconds to finish, so i consider it a better choice.
And an update, I just tried the Knight of Rounds materia, and omg, it kills bosses in one blow, suddenly i felt the time i put to get the gold chocobo is worthing it
hoyun 2 years ago
KoTR is especially useful when used on Ruby Weapon, which has about a million HP. Cloud's omnislash only does about 13,000 damage to it, and that's with both a maxed strength and maxed luck (the latter for frequent criticals). KoTR is defense-ignoring which allows you to do 9999 damage quite often (max magic for that, done with "magic plus" materia) and 13 strikes of that means roughly a total of 125,000 HP damage (less than expected because it doesn't always do 9999 damage).
ulillillia 2 years ago
@ulillillia
you really dont need KOTR to beat ruby or emerald...you just gotta know what you're up against and you'll do fine
they arent THAT much of a challenge once you got decent materia tbh
itsagainjustme89 2 years ago
Physical attacks only do 800 damage (if you haven't seen the video where I use Cloud's "Omnislash", you should). KOTR is the only way to deal any significant damage to it - 130,000 per cast as opposed to a mere 12,000 with omnislash with a maxed strength and luck.
ulillillia 2 years ago
@ulillillia
well there is a way to penetrate his thick armour.
several in fact
1: get ur hp @ 7777 and every hit on every monster will do 7777 dmg
2: like u said KOTR (but i found that boring :P)
3: hero drinks
4: barrets overflow (thats what its called right?) get materia with as much AP as possible on his ultimate WEAPON and you deal massive damage, even to ruby
5: vincents overflow (you need to kill a whole lot of monsters with vincent, he alledgedly gets stronger as he kills more monsters
itsagainjustme89 2 years ago
Lets not forget Caith Siths "Game Over"-limit break ^^ By far the easiest way in my opinion.
BraveVincere 1 year ago
Don't you mean the "instant win" one? I never use Cait Sith's level 2 (and oddly the highest) limit. I prefer his level 1 limit far, far more since it's less risky. In fact, I otherwise never use Cait Sith, unless it's forced upon by the story.
ulillillia 1 year ago
YEah i mean level 2; "Slots".
Game Over is the Instant kill skills name ^^
BraveVincere 1 year ago
@BraveVincere
uhm.. i'll take ur word for it
since caith sith is a complete spazz and utterly annoying in EVERYTHING it does.. i never play with it.
+ its too easy to do it like that =D
i prefer to beat the bosses 'regulary' before beating it cheap :D
in the case of emerals i first beat him w/o KOTR and hero drinks (w/o underwater materia btw) (not using lucky 7777 or manipulating overflow)
once i did that, i sometimes beat them any other way i can think of :D
itsagainjustme89 1 year ago
Yeah I do the same, I always beat games/bosses and such "normally" before I "cheat" or what we should call it. But since ive done it so many times I usually do it this way when I play the game today. But killing them normally without KOTR and hero dringks and such is definetely nicer ^^
BraveVincere 1 year ago
@BraveVincere
quite frankly, i really disliked how easy emerald and ruby are.
they are hard if u dont understand their attacks and their weaknesses... (for example: air stomp from emerald always killed me cuz i stock up on materia ofc.. but u understand the attack, and u pwn the dude)
the only REALLY hard boss i've fought in any of the FF's i've played (and remember atm) are in FFX.. namely penance.. and the dark magus sisters possibly qualify
itsagainjustme89 1 year ago
how do you get chocobo's top speed the highest possible?
whats the method of feeding? thx in advance!
PS: i read somewhere to feed 90 sylkis greens to each one of your chocobo's for best stats, but when i do that i always have a low top speed -_-
plz hlp
1xCloudStrifex1 2 years ago
I find that something like 50 reagen greens and 30 sylkis greens are what you need (I don't recall the exact numbers but it's something like this. Reagen greens improve top speed and stamina while sylkis greens affect intelligence (for a higher top pacing speed). The zeio nut appears to raise the maximums for all stats (stolen from goblins). Racing each chocobo to class S provides the best results (you don't have to win any S class races).

How do you get stamina to 999? Does it matter if you do the long course or short course? Thanks :)
ChristieCrew 2 years ago
Reagen and Sylkis greens are what I use and 999 stamina just seems to be the norm. Even without the stamina-raising tactic, just max out intelligence (the Sylkis greens), speed up and avoid sprinting and even with the long course, I'm easily able to win B rank with a basic yellow chocobo. S rank with Teioh is just about as easy with gold chocobos.

8762 MPH CHOBOBO
roxasfruit 2 years ago
176 km/h is actually 109 1/3 mph. At 8762 mph, you'd be fried to a crisp due to atmospheric friction (let alone the effects of the pressure wave in front of you since air can't move fast enough). Of course, in video games, anything can happen - it's however it's set in the programming.

I used to hate Joe and Teioh til I bred my own lovely gold Chocobo ;D
xNickySaintx 2 years ago
With enough skill, you could beat Teioh with the ordinary yellow chocobos. It's tough, best done with the long course, but it's still possible. With a river chocobo (which, due to a bug I've known about for a long time climbs better) or a mountain chocobo (goes through the space and water scenes unaffected), I'm much more likely to win. I practically never sprint because sprinting is just as fast as running at top speed. With the black or gold chocobos, I'm guaranteed to win.
ulillillia 2 years ago
i agree i beaten teioh with my yellow chocobo she's 118 with like 669 stamina and i could only beat them with the long course no matter what i try on the short one
ultimateff7gamer 2 years ago
I've even beaten Teioh in the short course. To do that, you have to know how to block and keep blocking, especially at the end. I only get it for pure luck.
ulillillia 2 years ago
yeah i tried blocking also but i guess i suck at block lol but ill keep trying and another thing i finaly breeded my own fine and mighty golden chocobo with 149 speed i think and 999 stamina and ill try to increase his speed to the max
ultimateff7gamer 2 years ago
It's tough to block, since it's very hard to know where your opponent is coming from. The zeio nut, from my experiences, seems to be the best for raising maximum speed.
ulillillia 2 years ago
yeah i used the zeio nut to get the golden chocobo
ultimateff7gamer 2 years ago
Well, you can use it on any chocobo for major max speed boost. I don't know, however, if you can use this to mate two "wonderful" chocobos then use that for getting the gold.

oh good so im not the only one with a flashing chocobo, i thought mine was like that from my scratched disk hehe
bluebones64 2 years ago
It's highly unlikely you'll get game defects from scratched disks. I believe that this is because the game and/or CD reader uses a checksum system - if the checksum doesn't check out (pun intended), a retry is done. It's apparently why I didn't get to see the ending of FF8 in full, the one with the credits showing - it took an hour to scroll the credits one screen, 15 minutes at one time to load 4 frames' worth....

this might just be me but when i had those stats with my gold chocobo i found that normal running was faster than sprinting. is that just me or am i right?
BadDragon616 3 years ago
Actually, normal running and sprinting are just as fast, or at least, so close to it that I can't tell a difference. You're better off just pressing [] to max speed then just go through the entire race like this, cutting corners.
ulillillia 3 years ago
WTF?!?!?! A TRILION GILS?!?!??!?!!?
EigenX7 2 years ago
A trillion is a 13-digit number. Count the digits again - I have 10. That's 1.4 billion. The theoretical limit is 4,294,967,295, a 32-bit unsigned integer. If, for some odd reason, it's signed, then it's only 2,147,483,647 - passing that will answer the question. It would have to be a highly-unlikely 64-bit integer before gil can even get into the trillions (limited to 18 4/9 quintillion, a 20-digit number, if unsigned, but 9 2/9 quintillion if signed (a 19-digit number)).
ulillillia 2 years ago
I can't raise my chocobos speed any higher than 150, all i can raise is stamina, and i think that's around 690-697. what should i do? i've fed him all the greens available. and it's a gold chocobo, s rank
archetypesweden3 3 years ago
Get the reagen and sylkis greens from the Chocobo Sage somewhere north of Bone Village. These raise speed and stamina very quickly. While they cost more per unit, they're, overall, just as worthy as the cheap gyshal grens, but it's a whole lot faster to max the stats and the overall cost to max them is less.
ulillillia 3 years ago
i've gotten a chocobo (a green one) that had 999 stamina and a top speed of 196. wow maybe it was a glitch or something but it makes the other s rank chocobos look like fat retards.

tip for all hold all shoulder buttons for regaining stamina and it works too as I did try it before and it stuck and it is a great bunch of vids
Omnishredder 3 years ago
I think I have this in the description. I've known about this well before you posted this comment. By pressing [] to increase the speed, it's often a much better way. Pacing is more important and sprinting seems to have a minuscule effect on the speed but wastes stamina. You could actually, using this method, finish the race easily without the need of the R1+R2 method and still have plenty of stamina to spare.
ulillillia 3 years ago
its not very hard to get a 170+ speed choco i have a 190 speed with 999 stam i just got 1 gold got it to s then mated with a black and then mated the 2 gold when both s till max speed
kurbina1251 3 years ago
I tried this and 176 was the fastest I could get. Nothing else worked. I would like one of 200+, if that's possible.
ulillillia 3 years ago
what annoys me is teioh always gets like 20+ higher than u
kurbina1251 3 years ago
Teioh is 10% faster and has 25% more stamina, if you want the exact numbers. Pesky fractions are rounded down.
ulillillia 3 years ago
thats because 176 is the technical fastest, I think some people just posting lies to try and make out they beat you or they cannot remember.
chrcoluk 2 years ago
if boosting appears to have a minuscule effect then you haven't gone as in depth into breeding as me. there are essentially two kinds of chocobo in this regard. the "top speed" of some chocobos is reached with normal running, while others get a significant speed boost from holding square. when i played i had a set of boosters and a set of non boosters i would interbreed every other generation using random nuts each try. the 182 black i had was inbred from the boost family with a carob nut.
cyberpsygen7 3 years ago
Part of my strategy involves pressing [] right away to run as fast as possible. Sprinting has practically no effect on movement speed for me.
ulillillia 3 years ago
then that chocobo, and prolly many others of its family tree, were bred for high base speed rather than high boost speed. i was under the impression that the billion different nuts might play into this, but it was pointless to do the extensive tests manually when its so popular that someone else would likely get around to it at some point.
also, since u have 999 stamina and 150+ speed, and know the trick to regen it, you should be able to boost the entire race without running out.
cyberpsygen7 3 years ago
however like i was saying, some chocobos reach top speed with normal walking and boosting made some of my birds appear to go slightly slower than they otherwise would!
at a certain point (when the stage can't keep up with the chocobo for instance) it becomes impossible to tell without stop watching it in real life and doing some km to miles conversions yourself, rofl.

O yea I still play the game I have the PC version that a friend gave to me but its not the same without the controller and with the lag.

Anyway, great video!

If you go with hardware, you're going to get lag which makes playing games impossible unless you use a splitter and play the game on a normal TV instead.

my chocobos was the same, i think thats the limit. just give it loads of the right greens.
