Nice video, Danny. Is all the trackage through Newberry out of service? What about the line that goes west toward Trenton? I saw some photos where it looked somewhat overgrown, but not too terrible.
All the track west to Trenton has been pulled. Part of it is now a Rails to Trails program. Nice bike ride but would have been nicer if the railroad could have been more profitable. Who knows, if the price of fuel goes througth the roof we may one day see a Trails to Rails program. ;)
When was that done? Google Maps street view shows the line in for at least a couple miles west of Newberry, then it turns to empty ROW with rails only at the crossings, then to bike trail near Trenton.
For some reason I thought you were talking about High Springs. The track from Newberry west to Trenton is still there. I'm in Gainesville, was there last week. Several hopper cars with growth around them leading west. As far as Trenton is concerned they keep pulling track. It used to go to the old station. Not much industry out there at the moment but who knows what the economy with bring. CSX leases trackage to a company that hauls coal on the line that goes to the Crystal River power plant.
Google maps shows quite a few abandoned lines. Much of the time, you can use Street View at the crossings to see if it still looks like an active line.
Awesome Video Series. Love the Pink CSX Hat on the Road Foreman of Engines. Seems like the Cop was a little surpised to see Speeders instead of Trains
Films like this are a great asset to the hobby. Shows how fun it is,and the positive influence to the local community and the host railroad.Photography, editing, titles, interviews all come together great. Narcoa should give you an oscar. Can I get the long version on DVD?

Great video! It's a shame CSX has pulled up so much track in Florida. Glad to see part of this line is still there.

So that's what my MT14-M looks like highballing through a crossing at 30+ MPH ;)
Hopefully soon I can get some video of it up here too.
Great video!

Many thanks. You are too kind. Unfortunately, that's about all there is. The edits are only to clean up the setups in between shots.
All of these videos will be available later this Spring in a DVD called "Railfanning With Danny"
