UMMM...NO!...I have handraised 5 baby pidgeons straight from the eggs...that is really not the proper way to make sure the baby is getting all of it's protein...has it actually lived? the crop...meaning the belly needs to be a lot fuller than that and putting water into its mouth like that can actually cause the baby to inhale it and die...yeah it may be cheap and easy but to make sure the little guy gets proper nutrition to grow correctly it needs exact handfeeding formula..

I use a tomato sauce bottle to give it water.

Easy way to give the bird water is to use a sauce bottle.

add water...open the birds beak up...stick the pointy part of the sauce bottle down the birds throat and squeeze gently!.

Just imagine your adding sauce to your sandwich but REMEMBER...Squeeze the bottle GENTLY!

I have 3 pigeons, 2 female and 1 male...the female fantail pigeon had eggs and everytime they hatched she took care of them for 1 week and then later abandoned them...She layed 7 eggs and abandoned the chicks and killed them, i managed to save 1 and i fed it and took care of it but SOMEHOW...I HAVE NO IDEA HOW, its leg broke, she never fell down, i never took it out of its box, she was always in the house, i had alot of soft tissues. SHE DIED :(

i found one last week i think he's about 2 weks old, a neighbor who has racing pigeons gave me a bag of seeds to feed him with, its mostly corn and some beans and peas, i feed him like this also, except he wont really eat on his own from my hand so i have to open his beak and put in the food. it seems like a bit rough for the bird but its fine, he's happy as long as he's being fed and he's doing really well, u just have to force him to eat at first.

Im not sure if its "healthy" for the lil bugger, but I just found a pigeon today and started it out with some milk in a teaspoon. I had tried everything else, and he didn't want it, but with the milk I just had to trigger his pecking/eating reflex by placing the teaspoon under his chin, and the lil guy chomped down! Im gonna get him on bird food tomorrow. I was worried if i hand fed him he would go into shock, but these guys seem to be regular troopers lol
