this video is ridiculous. i can see where they come from, but you must first prove that god exists before even making such claims as without god, everything is relative. morals are based on the human thought process of what they would want done to them. its the feeling of empathy and sympathy which controls ethics. not god. especially not one who would torture a soul infinitely for even the most minor sin. No, the christian god is not a good example of morality. people are
HAHAHAHA! This video makes me sad. It is scary that many people out there believe that atheists are just as likely to like sadism as they are to like love. It's a reasoning thing. Not a "personal taste". Empathy is the basis for all moral values and is the structure from which nearly all atheists take their moral guidance. It's basically the same idea as Luke 6:31 "Do to others as you would have them do to you." The bible is immaterial to the idea of empathy.
@tantawi1992 No, you have not. See a debate would require you to be able to offer a counter argument, which twice now you've failed to do. You clearly are not capable of debate, merely stating your ignorant opinion as if it were fact.
@tantawi1992 It's an accurate account. If it wasn't, you'd be able to make an argument, rather than just claiming it's 'superficial' which more accurately describes your belief in this horrible fictional being.
A good God gives us the human family a prescription for living a fulfilling love as individuals and a human family. God who wants to give us freedom sets a prescription for love that includes a certain set rules allowing us greater freedom. Every nation establishes laws in order to promoter safety and prosperity of the general population such as laws regarding driving and health. We who love God invite you to explore this vision for life that exceeds all expectations.
@BocaMissioner But christianity doesn't have a good god. It has a god that commits mass genocide, infanticide, rape, slavery, the abuse of women and children, and so on. Freedom? Do what I say or suffer is hardly freedom.
Morality & goodness usually stem from the simple objective exercise of empathy & compassion, *period*, but oftentimes can be subverted when that objective exercise is muddled by subjective influences (such as racial bias, religious bias, etc.). Manufactured 'zero tolerance' absolutes in ethics/morality, by religion or whatever, is simply a lazy, spoon-fed, cowardly excuse not to have to use common sense, sound judgment, reason, empathy or compassion when confronting a complicated reality.
"exercise of empathy & compassion" That in itself is relative. One person to the next may be relative to your idea of compassion. That is a shakeable foundation.

Oh no, william Lane Craig. When you see him in something it's never a good sign.

Christian morality can be summed up with one phrase "because I said so". Right and wrong don't factor into the equation.

lol, good idea. never heard it put quite like that.
the essence of Christian ethics is to figure out which things tick God off and avoid them.
