The ones we wear in this video are 8mm, but we have since then bought 100 mm open cell/smooth skin Picasso - pretty warm - can last in icy water for more than 1 hour

Thanks. It was not meant as a spearfishing video per se. I was just trying to produce smth entertaining by fusing smth as incompatible as B. Spears and spearfishing in winter in Russia. I cannot for some reason post links in messages, but if you do a search on hyeparis videos in youtube - you would find another clip - I filmed when spearfishing with a friend in the delta of the Volga river in the fall of 2006.

Thanks for the kind words. It is actually only so cold - it cannot be colder than 0 degree Celsius - cause it would freeze. So if you have a thick wet suit, preferrably 9-10 mm, then you could last for at least an hour as long as you keep moving. Plus, there are no other options really in you want to spearfish outside Moscow It is not Florida - winters last for seven months or more here!

Lucky you! We have to go to Russia's Black Sea coast- an 12 hour ride for saltwater spearfishing and there is not much fish left in that sea either. So every summer I try to go Cyprus or Crete.

i only fish in salt watter but i have some friends who usually fish in fresh water at amazon. I don't live near amazon, there u can get 100kg fishes.

yes, I have seen some videos on that as well as read a story about spearfishing in Brazil in a magazine. It is fascinating that entire forests are flooded by the Amazon river and folks can spearfish between treees!

yes we call that igapé the flooded areas. i never were in amazon, in truth i am a lilltle far from there, amazon is only on the north west of brazil. actually i only fish in salt watter.
