@ClassAct44 Thanks for the thoughtful comment. This performance was a part of a concert I did paying a tribute to Garth Brooks. As such, I did not attempt to impersonate Garth Brooks, but instead used my own voice in the style of the song. Good point about the white hat since Garth Brooks is indeed a good guy. However, even Garth wears a black hat in his performances.

Just to set it straight.Garth had had an argument with his first wife while living in Nashville.

He left the house and started driving the back roads in his pick up truck in the rain.

He said the words just started coming to him and he called Kent on the cell phone and had him write them down as he drove toward Ken'ts house.

When he got there Garth and Kent put the words to music. and had what we hear today by the morning light.

Thanks for the comment. To be sure, the original was written and performed by Garth Brooks in 1989. Ronan Keating did not cover the song until 2002. Ronan did a nice job with it, but in a different style than the original Garth Brooks version. In any event, it is an excellent song with a good message for all of us.
