u dickhead! range rover is nothing but piece of sh1t. i crap that thing for a land cruiser it has more power and reliability, range rover just got better looks..
In this movie like every other clip by land rover owners the land somehow beats the jeep and guess what it shouldn't. I own a wrangler rubicon s, a g55o mercedes, a range rover supercharged, a commander, a grand cherokee an h1 and h3, a brand new discovery and an Fj cruiser and as stock cars the jeep crushes all the others. Even my dad and he used to work for general dynamics land systems as a chassis engineer says the jeep is superior.
the jeep rubicon is superior off road because its the smallest has two solid axles 2 diff locks and isn't really design to do anything else then go off road
It looks like to me both of the kids in the video need to buy some quality offroad tires if the want to play in the mud so they dont get stuck every 100 feet..LOL LMAO
BaderA, there's no such thing as "Range Rover Jeep" it's either a Range Rover or a Jeep two different cie. One word for these guys amateurs! And the obvious, no tires=no traction. Land Rover rules! Cheers.
it always 70 % on the driver those 2 drivers are making a big mistake, when driving off road you should never hit the breaks NEVER cause the breaks in those places are the main reason for getting stock. I used to drove jeep and sometimes the range rover jeep is much better cause the range rover is very heavy it's wight 2.5 tons
Just back from driving my second hand RR supercharged06 in the mud and rubble. Absolutely briliant, only problem it has to much power 400hp so you've got the tendence to overspeed th car. Keep in mind that the RR as the Jeep GC are limited by the capabilities of their drivers. But I think the RR is the best car of the both.
You just can't baby them in the sticky stuff. They are far too heavy to float, so you have to let them dig. And I am sad to say, the tires fitted here just aren't of the digging variety, as well, the driver is being a bit too careful, if that is possible. Both did very well given the snotty conditions, but both could have done far better, and perhaps they will in the future. There is always room for improvement in technique.
4wd is 4wd. It either locks, or it does not lock. None of that is the difference between Rover and Jeep. Land Rovers are built to do different things than Jeeps. They are built to be good in all conditions, never being the best at any of them. A lightfooted Jeep will outperform a Rover in some areas, but a Rover will be at least "good" in tasks for which a Jeep is bad. Rovers are legendary in mud, when properly handled...
it's ouvious the range or land rover is for who i afectionetly call "the rich kids" and the jeep is for people on a budgit i guess, but dont be fool as far as used old jeeps.. they are mutch more reliable than a big ol expensive land or range rover from the same year
Not really, my stock land rover LEAVES a modded '95 Wrangler with big tires and a decent lift.
Plus, the very water hole that I trudged in up to the mid doors numerous times, the jeep waterlogged. Now he needs a new motor. He even admits jeeps are made shitty, but parts are cheap.
how can you go offroading with the wrong tyres people should check these things before hand and i know that range rover can make it accross there with the correct atire, im not really a fan of either but i do have a 2007 LR3 which is more the best land rover in my opinion
LR3 is called Discovery 3 here. Jeep was the car of my mom and is replaced by a Range Rover Sport HSE. I have a Defender 110 HT now with a 200Tdi motor. LR3 is good for an SUV but 200Tdi and 300Tdi defenders are stil the most reliable Land Rovers and they do can go rougher than LR3
There are much better tyres 4 the job you will transform the ability of any so called 4x4 with better boots on it. This whole fuckwitted Jeep Landy or Hummer shit that goes on in these posts is fucking annoying take the tyres off them both then drive on the rimms you wont get far in mud sand snow or rocks do you get my drift?
I totally agree. I made a similar comment (on the next page) But Rover loyalists will not admit to it. I love both vehicles but I do think that this fact should be pointed out. Glad someone else saw it.
whats funny to me is the price difference in these cars and they do about equal!!! id take the jeep anyday over that cute little range rover, actually id take the rover and sell it then buy an 80 series Land Cruiser!!
Not only does he make fun of your tires but he brags about his Thornbirds which are basically the worst tires that Interco makes. They pretty much impress the guy next to you at the stop light and that's all they're good for.

I am 17 years old and i got my 2007 Land rover Lr3 V8SE fully equipped at 16, I have taken the land rover off road so many times and i have never been sutck, I have taken it off road and i have competed personally against my friends jeep and completly taken it over, the driver of that range rover is a complete dumbass. He obviously has no idea how to drive
Im sure youre LR3 is beautiful. And as a Jeep GC owner I respect all Land Rovers. Jeeps and Land Rovers both rock! Other vehicles cannot go where we go.
But at least Jeeps dont break down as much and are more reliable. I had to pull a Land Rover Disco out of the Mud when his Water pump broke. And he hated the fact that I was using a Jeep to pull him out...hehe...silly Brit!
pfft. Jeep's aren't very good mate. Especially if you compare the old range rover classics to the same era of jeep. Plus Jeeps are not overly reliable, i think they are in the bottom 5 of most unreliable vehicles in europe....the freelander is lower, but thats wank as well. Just get a Toyota.
Well european cars on a whole are built alot better than American cars. And looks are certainly a personal preferance. I don't think the jeep looks that nice, and certainly no where near as nice as a rangy. The interiors feel really cheap and the fake wood they use looks crap. A new Toyota Hilux twin cab 3L d4d chromed up looks much nicier than a top of the range jeep imo, and it won't go wrong, unlike jeep.
I never said european cars werent nice in the looks and feel department. I love them.(especially German) But their reliabilty sucks. I had 2 BMWs (E46 323i and E39 525i) Lovely cars. Great feel. But the maintanence was awful. The cooling systems broke EVERY winter costing me soo much money. Bad eletronics too. And I really dont want to buy Japanese 'cause I dont want to be like everyone else. If my Jeep EVER has problems the parts are very cheap (over here)
you managed to get stuck in 4 inch of mud.i honestly dotn think i can do that.i would have to be in 2wd to do that but it would still be hard.great driving
that guy in the range can't drive obviously, they have lower gears for a reason dumb ass, whomever made this vid new that fool couldn't drive, any 4x4 could a got through dat, especially a range rover,my fada has an older 1,it wud be so easy for someone with sense to get through that little water and mud,nordstrom26,doesn't know how to drive 1 either if he's complaining,oh and i'm not english,so i'm not defending the range
If your talking about offroading in jeep or landrover id go with Jeep the name says it all JEEP if it was good enough for the army for over 40 years then it definately has earned a spot in my heart unlike the landrover. Like the saying goes to each he's own if i had to choose i would take the jeep or landrover and sell it to buy a jeep. Peace
Jeeps own when it comes to offroad. old range rovers were pretty good but modern day range rovers suck. they are just big gangster mobiles to through some big rims on
I have driven and owned both, and the ladn rover is as good or better than the jeep. both excell in different areas. In one situation the jeep may be better, and in another the rover might be better. they are both great machines and as far as offroad capability you couldn't lose with either one.
i intend to get an srt8 real soon! test drove it. ooooooh man! jeeps rule! not fancy, just wrote the book. the original! bloodlines from the ole' willys or g.p.!
truste me, i have NO intention of getting anywhere NEAR this type of s@#! it's going to sit in my garage! plus, i already KNOW how high it sits. i look at it as a musclecar.
i drove my father-in-law's grand cherokee when he went to europe for two weeks, and let me tell you that it had no problems off road! could go everywhere the range could. he lived in the sierra foothills, and the trek to his house was similar to this course. the you had to go up his driveway, which was a 30 degree hill. the jeep never had a problem and never faultered.
I almost bought a used range rover but was dissapointed in not being able to secure any warranty from the sellers - costs and electrical issues -- for that reason alone I went with a 2000 jeep cherokee 4.0 liter. very reliable, great hauler and decent on gas. I think the new rovers are better but they're too pricey for now
Jeeps are miles better now, land/range rovers are under power'd, i own a 07 jeep grand cherokee 7.0 superchared srt8 in england. all the range rovers try race me but i smoke all them, well it does do 0-60 in 3.7 seconds. my jeeps so fast, want to race hit me up!
pointsur, I was referring to purplehaze007's comment about his "supercharged 7.0" SRT-8 when I mentioned BS. Seems all the messages are appearing mixed up on YouTube right now.
the SRT8 has a 6.1L 425hp normally aspirated hemi v8, and goes 0-60 in 4 seconds, unless you added a supercharger and bored and stroked the engine to 7.0 litres you ar BSing. I give it props though it is fast as hell!
I heard some of the owners of RR mentioned about suspension failure and poor traction...and a lot of complain about this car...any readers can give some comments? especially the suspension...
my cosine had 1 of them RR untill he blew 13 back diffs axles 6 front axles or cv's and 4 motors all in 3 years off extreme 4wd it did go along way thanx to its huge lift and mods but no further than us in jeeps with minimal damage over the years
boring track boring driving skills and dosent set the two apart although all u need is a paddock to c the jeep is superior cos u dont pay twice as much for a 4wd that doesnt even have 2wd selectable let alone a reliable constant awd
Why are you concerned about 2wd on an awd vehicle, and the rovers awd system is the best in the world along with the locking diffs, a stock jeep doesn't come close to the rover. I owned a jeep cherokee bought it new and had many problems including front diff failures many engine issues etc. my rover now has more miles than my jeep and no problems, sometimes you just get a bad example from any manuf.
I think the bottom line is this: Both are great on & off road vehicles. If you're into economy, get the Jeep. If you have a larger bank account, and want the luxury, get the Rover. Both are similarly talented, it just depends on what your needs are.
very well put, you can't lose with either, but stock the land rover comes better equipped unles you get the optional diff locks on the jeep then they are much more evenly matched.
Jeep was my the car of my mother. Now she has a Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE. I bought a Land Rover Defender 200Tdi Hard Top of 1991. Still some work on but when I've good tyres I'll take it off road !!!!
That boy in the Range Rover sure can`t drive. While he gets stuck, he turns the wheel instead of keeping it straight. Also shows how much better the Jeep performs on mud than the Range Rover.
just for the record OFF ROAD TIRES!!!!!!!!!!! Also a range rover is just a jazzed up jeep. They re just mad cause jeep had it first. I have a cherokee country and it is flat out the best 4x4 ever. Get a life and dont buy a 50,000 range rover. My jeep was 5,000 and i can do circles around ANY range rover. But thanks for the most boring 10:00 mins. of my life.
If you are stock I will challenge you with my discovery anyday. the Cherokee country doesn't have diff locks so you'd lose in any uneven terrain like ditch crossings and rock crawling. I like jeeps too and I will not bash a jeep, but give credit to land rover, because I have run circles around many chevys fords with mud tires with my stock disco on street tires because they all get stuck spinning one front and one rear tire, and mine locks em all in with the traction control spinning them evenly
You are absolutely right, the jeep is by far the best bang for your buck, and If I want a real off road capable vehicle, it would be between a jeep, land rover, Mercedes G class and a Toyota land cruiser. Too bad they stopped making the 4.0 inline 6 in the jeeps. that engine had great low end torque. I love my discovery but I would never knock a jeep. they are tough as hell and have great 4wd systems.
I've tested the new Land Rover Defender. If you have to climb a rocky hill of 40°, just put it in Lo gear, lock diff., put it in 1st gear and keep your feet of the pedals. It wil climb up that hill with only 1000rpm !!! The anti-stall system prevent the motor from stopping.
Downhill the same, no Hill Descent Control, just motor brake. In first gear and feet of the pedals. It wil descent slowly and safe.
nice video guys! it looks like a great way to become acquainted with how a vehicle responds when driven in shallow mud. (for me, having driven both types _on_ road, I prefer the Range Rover. have yet to drive either type offroad)
Your piece of Yank shit is too low, too heavy and under powered with an archaeic 4WD articulation system. And it looks like shit. Jeep is just trying to hang off the last half decent car they built. The Willy in WW2. Give it up.
keep it in your pants douchebag. if you have ever seen a jeep offroad with someone driving who knows what they're doing, there's no contest. you call it an "archaeic 4WD articulation system". look on ANY rock crawler and tell me what kind of suspension/ axles theyre running. the selec-trac part time 4wd system in most xj's would tear your shit apart so shut it.
Both the jeep and land rover are excellent offroad vehicles period. While I do favor the land rover, the jeep is no POS either as long as it has diff locks. My 02 discovery II is a beast when it comes to rock crawling and the tractions controlled locks work great, if one wheel spins it locks it and transfers the power to the wheel with traction, the next best thing to lockers, but its all automatic, so you don't have to worry about damage forgetting to unlock a diff like some vehiclese turning
hey whats up, im getting a 98 grand cherokee laredo, and im new to the whole off road thing, i was just wodnering if any of you guys could help me out with some knowledge, thanks
Most people on here know nothing. The range rover is better off road it has a far better approach, departure and breakover angle and its RTI (most on here wont even know what the F**k that is but still mouth off)is over 700 whilst the jeep is about 550. Go check out some facts before most of you twats bother making comments about things you are clueless.

you managed to get stuck in 4 inch of mud.i honestly dotn think i can do that.i would have to be in 2wd to do that but it would still be hard.great driving
jordanburum 4 years ago
that guy in the range can't drive obviously, they have lower gears for a reason dumb ass, whomever made this vid new that fool couldn't drive, any 4x4 could a got through dat, especially a range rover,my fada has an older 1,it wud be so easy for someone with sense to get through that little water and mud,nordstrom26,doesn't know how to drive 1 either if he's complaining,oh and i'm not english,so i'm not defending the range
cakinw 4 years ago
If your talking about offroading in jeep or landrover id go with Jeep the name says it all JEEP if it was good enough for the army for over 40 years then it definately has earned a spot in my heart unlike the landrover. Like the saying goes to each he's own if i had to choose i would take the jeep or landrover and sell it to buy a jeep. Peace
ASIJA1 4 years ago
Landrovers own all the time Put some tires on that rangerover then off road this person is not a good offroader\
Whitedevo 4 years ago
Jeeps own when it comes to offroad. old range rovers were pretty good but modern day range rovers suck. they are just big gangster mobiles to through some big rims on
Jeepin08123 4 years ago
I have driven and owned both, and the ladn rover is as good or better than the jeep. both excell in different areas. In one situation the jeep may be better, and in another the rover might be better. they are both great machines and as far as offroad capability you couldn't lose with either one.

i intend to get an srt8 real soon! test drove it. ooooooh man! jeeps rule! not fancy, just wrote the book. the original! bloodlines from the ole' willys or g.p.!
pointsur 4 years ago
The SRT-8 cannot go off-road. It has a very low front end and no low range.
gtmash 4 years ago
truste me, i have NO intention of getting anywhere NEAR this type of s@#! it's going to sit in my garage! plus, i already KNOW how high it sits. i look at it as a musclecar.
pointsur 4 years ago
By the way, I posted a video of the SRT-8 that I got for a test, titled "sand storm" if you are interested. It is sort of off-roading I guess.
gtmash 4 years ago
i drove my father-in-law's grand cherokee when he went to europe for two weeks, and let me tell you that it had no problems off road! could go everywhere the range could. he lived in the sierra foothills, and the trek to his house was similar to this course. the you had to go up his driveway, which was a 30 degree hill. the jeep never had a problem and never faultered.
pointsur 4 years ago
I almost bought a used range rover but was dissapointed in not being able to secure any warranty from the sellers - costs and electrical issues -- for that reason alone I went with a 2000 jeep cherokee 4.0 liter. very reliable, great hauler and decent on gas. I think the new rovers are better but they're too pricey for now
Xcopy651 4 years ago
Jeeps are miles better now, land/range rovers are under power'd, i own a 07 jeep grand cherokee 7.0 superchared srt8 in england. all the range rovers try race me but i smoke all them, well it does do 0-60 in 3.7 seconds. my jeeps so fast, want to race hit me up!
purplehaze007 4 years ago
Unless your Jeep is modified, you are BSing.
gtmash 4 years ago
hardly. but believe what you will. i'm just relating an experience. if you think i'm bsing, i personally don't give a damn.
pointsur 4 years ago
pointsur, I was referring to purplehaze007's comment about his "supercharged 7.0" SRT-8 when I mentioned BS. Seems all the messages are appearing mixed up on YouTube right now.
gtmash 4 years ago
the SRT8 has a 6.1L 425hp normally aspirated hemi v8, and goes 0-60 in 4 seconds, unless you added a supercharger and bored and stroked the engine to 7.0 litres you ar BSing. I give it props though it is fast as hell!

I heard some of the owners of RR mentioned about suspension failure and poor traction...and a lot of complain about this car...any readers can give some comments? especially the suspension...
carsfanz 4 years ago
my cosine had 1 of them RR untill he blew 13 back diffs axles 6 front axles or cv's and 4 motors all in 3 years off extreme 4wd it did go along way thanx to its huge lift and mods but no further than us in jeeps with minimal damage over the years
Jeepbenwj 4 years ago
boring track boring driving skills and dosent set the two apart although all u need is a paddock to c the jeep is superior cos u dont pay twice as much for a 4wd that doesnt even have 2wd selectable let alone a reliable constant awd
Jeepbenwj 4 years ago
Why are you concerned about 2wd on an awd vehicle, and the rovers awd system is the best in the world along with the locking diffs, a stock jeep doesn't come close to the rover. I owned a jeep cherokee bought it new and had many problems including front diff failures many engine issues etc. my rover now has more miles than my jeep and no problems, sometimes you just get a bad example from any manuf.
stucsonmike 4 years ago
Also remember that the jeeps have unibody, no real frame, that can't be to solid.
stucsonmike 4 years ago
I think the bottom line is this: Both are great on & off road vehicles. If you're into economy, get the Jeep. If you have a larger bank account, and want the luxury, get the Rover. Both are similarly talented, it just depends on what your needs are.
NemeanLion 4 years ago
very well put, you can't lose with either, but stock the land rover comes better equipped unles you get the optional diff locks on the jeep then they are much more evenly matched.
85BMW745i 3 years ago
They should show the weels. Same 4x4 with different weels = different results. Range is much better anyway...
CorneliusMoebius 4 years ago
Jeep was my the car of my mother. Now she has a Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE. I bought a Land Rover Defender 200Tdi Hard Top of 1991. Still some work on but when I've good tyres I'll take it off road !!!!

hathwit7 4 years ago
That boy in the Range Rover sure can`t drive. While he gets stuck, he turns the wheel instead of keeping it straight. Also shows how much better the Jeep performs on mud than the Range Rover.
Airox180 4 years ago
You are supposed to turn the wheel back and forth to try and regain traction.
asored2000 4 years ago
Yes, but if you want to back out, you should have your front wheels straight and not at angle.
Airox180 4 years ago
why keep going backwards and forwards??

just for the record OFF ROAD TIRES!!!!!!!!!!! But thanks for the most boring 10:00 mins. of my life.
jamesm8384 4 years ago
I don't remember I've asked you to watch this video. Do you?
CNOffRoader 4 years ago
If you are stock I will challenge you with my discovery anyday. the Cherokee country doesn't have diff locks so you'd lose in any uneven terrain like ditch crossings and rock crawling. I like jeeps too and I will not bash a jeep, but give credit to land rover, because I have run circles around many chevys fords with mud tires with my stock disco on street tires because they all get stuck spinning one front and one rear tire, and mine locks em all in with the traction control spinning them evenly
85BMW745i 3 years ago
well yea u gota give it cridt(it beter have) i mean it does cost substanchaly more......for "normle people"........the jeep is more "ban for ur buck"
click33018 3 years ago
You are absolutely right, the jeep is by far the best bang for your buck, and If I want a real off road capable vehicle, it would be between a jeep, land rover, Mercedes G class and a Toyota land cruiser. Too bad they stopped making the 4.0 inline 6 in the jeeps. that engine had great low end torque. I love my discovery but I would never knock a jeep. they are tough as hell and have great 4wd systems.
85BMW745i 3 years ago
actually my buddy who owns a jeep w/ big tires and a nice lift admits it's a piece of shit, just cheap and easy to fix.
My stock land rover has left him on trails AND in water/mud numerous times.

CNOffRoader 4 years ago
I bet you are.
Don't be ridiculous.
smeary10 4 years ago
DONT SPIN YOUR WHEELS SO MUCH!It ruins the road and take some pressure out of those tires.I run at about 20psi for that typ of mud.

You in your Jeep against me in my Range Rover?
Get off the juice, dickhead.
Your piece of Yank shit is too low, too heavy and under powered with an archaeic 4WD articulation system. And it looks like shit. Jeep is just trying to hang off the last half decent car they built. The Willy in WW2. Give it up.
smeary10 4 years ago
The 06 Grand Jeep 500 kg less than a Range Rover and 230Hp or 330Hp or 425Hp. You choose!
Do your reserch before you write anything and exept it even if you do not like it. And please watch your language.
(Dick head)
gerdok42 4 years ago
keep it in your pants douchebag. if you have ever seen a jeep offroad with someone driving who knows what they're doing, there's no contest. you call it an "archaeic 4WD articulation system". look on ANY rock crawler and tell me what kind of suspension/ axles theyre running. the selec-trac part time 4wd system in most xj's would tear your shit apart so shut it.
lostsurfin5 4 years ago
Both the jeep and land rover are excellent offroad vehicles period. While I do favor the land rover, the jeep is no POS either as long as it has diff locks. My 02 discovery II is a beast when it comes to rock crawling and the tractions controlled locks work great, if one wheel spins it locks it and transfers the power to the wheel with traction, the next best thing to lockers, but its all automatic, so you don't have to worry about damage forgetting to unlock a diff like some vehiclese turning

hey whats up, im getting a 98 grand cherokee laredo, and im new to the whole off road thing, i was just wodnering if any of you guys could help me out with some knowledge, thanks
mikemac2004 4 years ago
stay on road if you want to keep your jeep in one piece.
Change tires, add skid plates,...
CNOffRoader 4 years ago
that's the worst advice ever. You don't have to stay on road to keep your jeep nice, you just have to not be an idiot when offroad.
lostsurfin5 4 years ago
That's true but it all depends on what sort of off-road you want to do. Mud, stones, water, climbing,...
My advice: don't go in heavy mud with a 'luxuary SUV', take a Land Rover Defender, a VW Iltis or that kind of 4X4 instead.
CNOffRoader 4 years ago
i can help you out with some knowledge, send me a pm with some questions.

Where is the action? Why do you drive that slow?
Let it rock.
SnowdogJeep 4 years ago
I mean, since we all know snorkels, brush guards and cool lights are what make a vehicle capable offroad.
you're a dousche. a real offroad vehicle has: flexible suspension, aggressive tread, and someone who knows how to drive offroad.
