  • THIS IS WHAT THIS KEYBOARD IS BUILT FOR!!!!!!!.....NOW I FEEL COMPELLED TO INVEST IN THIS ITEM...FINALLY SOMEBODY IS USING IT FOR IT'S ORIGINAL PURPOSE...DAMMIT!

HATS OFF TO YOU SIR...IF YOU HAVE ANY MUSIC OUT...PUT THE LINK BELOW

  • Finally someone who knows how to use the better sounds in it!

  • I agree with the other comments. It is about time someone showcased its synth sounds. Great vid. Thanks for posting.

  • so sad but, very last patch is the only one that I like!!!

  • Roland D-50 has way more Oscillator editing options... Jupiter 80 just has lots of oscillators, but not with as many options individually in them...

  • GREAT DEMO !! I love my new Jupiter -80....Yes it is a great synth !!...

  • Nothing like the real thing baby.

  • Just one question-Where was this instrument made?

  • do you guys understand how beast is the synth engine in Jupiter 80? one oscillator = one sound, right? A TONE in JP80 have 3 oscillators, each oscillator with its own cutoff filter, resonance and amp settings. JP 80 can layer up to 10 tones at the same time (4 upper + 4 lower + solo + perc) ! thats 30 oscillators! on top of that insane number you can add affects! upper, lower, solo and perc are just "labels" that are used for routing the effects and settings, you can set any sound on them!

  • The best demo of this I have seen bar none. You concentrate on it sounding like a synthesizer - not a sax or a violin or an oboe - which is exactly as it should be. Roland should be paying you because you will turn a lot of people back to this who thought it was just a load of rubbish, plastic presets. You show it can sound like a synth. Great stuff!

  • @PukkatronicAllstars That's very kind of you, thanks! ;-)

  • I saw this in a shop-it was soo pretty! Sadly I can't play well enough to justify the £2499 price tag!I touched the keys and fell in love-will probably end up with a DGX640 but the jurys out on that! Thsi reminds me of the original Dr Who style music(BBC Radiophonics workshop and prior to that think they used an orchestra for the theme tune. Nicely played Audiosampling!

  • xpjv = dick

  • Great video, finally..someone who plays the analog sounds on JP80!

  • After hearing this I may have to rethinkthe Nord and Kronos debate I am having in my own head.

  • cheezy sounds in the presets

  • Awesome sounding patches!

How to create your custom patches with a quick video

ROLAND moved ahead with the Jupiter 80

I just ordered mine from Sweetwater, delivery set on Dec 24, 2011

  • Good stuff, I have one as well. I envision it will take quite a while for me to master, there are just so many options available.

  • Good demo. I also own one, but I am still not sure if I like it. Anyway, your Jupiter seems to sound better than mine ;)

  • @instantknut Know that feeling! ;-) Takes some time, patience and work to tame the beast ;-) Too many factory tones available... doesn't help picking the right one on the spot. It requires time to get a clear view of what the Jupiter-80 offers inside... and be able to start creating its own registrations. But I reassure you, my Jupiter is the same as yours, and my custom registrations only use factory presets (factory Livesets and Tones). Good luck!

  • does it have many 80's pop or cool square wave sounds? and do they sound any good?

  • @xpjv The original jupiter was also expensive : $4.995,- back in 1981... the equivalent of a very nice car! (would be like asking $30.000 for the JP-80 today). As for the cheap sounds, take a listen to the original Jupiter-8 : you will realize how simple sounding the factory presets were (simple doesn't mean cheap, I agree). I think Roland did a great job with the JP-80 : very versatile, with a "big" sound thanks to its 3x4x2=24 oscillators per voice!

  • @audiosampling you are wrong.. JP80 can have 30 oscillators! :) you can use synths in SOLO and PERC also. thats 3x4x2 +3x2 = 30

  • @MethodicBR ... and you are still wrong too ;-))) If you take into account the Unison Parameter, you still multiply your number 30 by 2, 4 or 8 (= 240 osc) :-p

  • @audiosampling you are right :) I will correct with this.... 30 independent oscillators that can sound like 240 oscillators with unison :D

  • Actually, this video quality is very close to actual JP80 sounds! GJ, man.

Although I recorded mine, it wasn't as good as actual JP80 sound, even official one is bad.
