That's typically what they do when something like this goes on Broadway. There aren't enough songs in the original movie to advertise it as a musical so they add more. And if you actually listen to the whole song and the other songs they added, they're absolutely beautiful.

So what if it's not in the movie? That doesn't make it a bad thing. Personally, I like the original Broadway songs more than the movie. They're beautifully composed and very well performed.

It's neat because if you listen to the score in "The Little Mermaid" movie, especially when Scuttle goes to announce to Ariel that Eric is getting married, you can hear bits of 'Beyond My Wildest Dreams'. These songs don't come out of no where.
