Personally I find Marion to be the most annoying of the Indy women. I mean she is so inconsistent, one minute she is beating guys up the next she is stuck in a basket. at least Willie was consistently screaming. Me I would take Elsa, even if she is a Nazi. Well, George didn't write the script, he wrote the story with Phillip Kaufman. The man who wrote the script was the same man who wrote the screenplay for Jurassic Park, Spiderman, War of the Worlds (2005), and more....David Koepp. I didn't think the script was bad at all. Honestly, it was pretty clever.

People just love to be hard on the return of great franchises....especially this one because of George Lucas and the Star Wars Prequels.

However, what I find problematic is your logic. Should people automatically give a break to bad movies unless they can do better themselves? After all, we viewers aren't paid millions of dollars to make these movies (unlike the pros), so why should be obligated to put up or shut up? It is not our job to create films.

The whole thing about high expectations is just a cheap post-hoc rationalization, a fanwanking way to try to unsuccessfully explain why the movie is so disjointed, why there's such poor judgment in the storytelling, and why it doesn't hold up to the other three. In the same way that people were trying to convince themselves that they really did love that turd known as The Phantom Menace. Indy 4 has a few solid moments, but if you have any kind of discerning taste, you know it's subpar. Sorry.

it has problems, i admit it, especially scenes like Tarzan and nuclear bombs but still it has its moments, i draw the line where people start to mock the character itself. it was entertaining and wasn't supposed to be a serious sequel, they just wanted to bring back Indiana jones and I'm sorry they had to follow Lucas and produce what some of you regard as a total failure. Lucas wanted aliens and Spielberg didn't.
