Oh man, you got the exact same scenes that i hated from that movie! I'm a huge huge indy fan, and i liked the last one, but i did think they made him look like an ass at the beginning with all the "sure thing don't wait for me!" and how he stumbles with the bike. hahahaha.
Personally I find Marion to be the most annoying of the Indy women. I mean she is so inconsistent, one minute she is beating guys up the next she is stuck in a basket. at least Willie was consistently screaming. Me I would take Elsa, even if she is a Nazi. Also....Indy has NO son! You lie to us Porkins Lucas! Spieldburg should have frozen you carbonite decades ago.
While you're all distracted by the awfulness of this movie, I'm sneaking off with that refrigerator so that I can survive any imaginable future Armageddon. I will fill it with Lucosade and pee into the empty bottles. I have it all figured out.
@diamandis80 I find it sad that are people out there who didn't get any enjoyment out of it. I thought it was at least on par with Temple of Doom. Oh, well. Agree to disagree.
So this movie had, God forbid, a refrigerator scene and...(Sarcastic gasp) ALIENS!!! The ones who loved this movie as much as the other three are the only people who are still loyal to the Indiana Jones legacy!
Well, George didn't write the script, he wrote the story with Phillip Kaufman. The man who wrote the script was the same man who wrote the screenplay for Jurassic Park, Spiderman, War of the Worlds (2005), and more....David Koepp. I didn't think the script was bad at all. Honestly, it was pretty clever.
People just love to be hard on the return of great franchises....especially this one because of George Lucas and the Star Wars Prequels.
Personally, I thought Indy IV was okay. Definitely worse than ToD, but still okay.
However, what I find problematic is your logic. Should people automatically give a break to bad movies unless they can do better themselves? After all, we viewers aren't paid millions of dollars to make these movies (unlike the pros), so why should be obligated to put up or shut up? It is not our job to create films.
I have no logic...I was merely making a point. I don't think the movies needs to be given a break. It wasn't even a bad film. I have just had enough of the hate toward Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
Next time George Lucas makes a sequel, prequel or even something vaguely reminiscent of a previously existing classic, I say we rise up as a people, brandishing our pitchforks and torches and slay him.
It's one reason why sequels frequently fall apart -- the need to one-up what you previously did. Eventually it reaches a point where it's simply self-parody.
Woah, without the laughs added when he gets out of the fridge, that would have made for an awesome teaser trailer.
But I agree that this movie was pretty silly at points. The first half was great, the second half with the bad jungle chase, the tree jump and the aliens in the end was pretty bad.
those who mock who mock Indiana jones are the TRUE haters of the film and series.
i keep hearing the BULLSHIT of them saying they're fans and the grew up watching Indy and i see them now MOCKING their very hero they loved.
you wanted indy 4 and it was delivered. just because your EXPECTATIONS were so fucking HIGH you got disappointed.
and where the fuck am i hearing they wanted a serious action film like the dark knight or similar in tone. when the hell has Indiana jones been SERIOUS. (1)

yeah and people who so adamantly defend this crap are apologists in denial. The film didn't have to be serious but it didn't have to be stupid. Check your facts, even spielberg himself said the movie isn't what he wanted but he wasn't willing to give up a friendship with Lucas for a movie.
that's right they should move on they got the sequel and they were trying to make a sequel that was in tribute to the others read your facts on Spielberg's interview and just leave the movie alone.
The whole thing about high expectations is just a cheap post-hoc rationalization, a fanwanking way to try to unsuccessfully explain why the movie is so disjointed, why there's such poor judgment in the storytelling, and why it doesn't hold up to the other three. In the same way that people were trying to convince themselves that they really did love that turd known as The Phantom Menace. Indy 4 has a few solid moments, but if you have any kind of discerning taste, you know it's subpar. Sorry.
it has problems, i admit it, especially scenes like Tarzan and nuclear bombs but still it has its moments, i draw the line where people start to mock the character itself. it was entertaining and wasn't supposed to be a serious sequel, they just wanted to bring back Indiana jones and I'm sorry they had to follow Lucas and produce what some of you regard as a total failure. Lucas wanted aliens and Spielberg didn't.
it pained me to see that movie. god it still hurts to think about it. indiana jones was so awesome. and now its all fucked for me. holy shit i feel like crying.
You could do that to ANY movie and make it look stupid, sad, funny or gay its just editing. Obviously the person who made this hates the movie and it shows in the way they took certain parts to amplify that point of view. You could do the same with Indy 1,2 & 3 just as easily.
I wish that would have been the trailer then i wouldn't have wasted my money...bad jokes, bad action..too many caracters....no suspense...just ridiculous....more so than ever before....
You can't be serious. Indian Jones 4 was so bad it made me want to find George Lucas and Spielberg and fucking murder them. They destroyed one of my favorite childhood movie characters, nobody has the right to do that....

I thought it brave of Spielberg to once again bring us Aliens in the movies. Its no more far fetched than any of the previous movies..I guess ya'all forgot Indi's river raft jump from a crashing airplane, to name but one.
I dont get it, the media has conditioned us all to laugh at anything related to 'little green men' over the past 40 years yet the evidence of something from other worlds visiting us is so strong & undeniable its an outrage we have been kept in the dark.
bullshit, until 1 knocks on my door selling cookies then i aint having it. i notice how as technology such as phot and video editing gets better and more available so the more of these sightings and mystery objects increase. and how come in the days of megamega pixel cameras that can show a wart on your knob from the moon every picture of a ufo looks like it was taken with a box brownie. if this poxy planet and its people spent more time on what we know than what we dont things might get better.
aw come on, crystal meth, duhm, i mean, skull wasn't THAT bad! it was no where NEAR as good as raiders or crusade (no indy film will) but you at least gotta admit that it was an entertaining movie that was still better than temple of doom. it's a movie, it's there to entertain, and for me, that's what it did. not fantastic, but it was still an accomplishment that it was done WELL... *cough*CLONEWARS*cough*
@akirajonez Some of the reasons fans consider Temple of Doom being the worst of the franchise is because Willie was annoying and the movie was dark at times. I have to admit she annoyed me.
i love the old indiana jones moives this one was ok
