the only way it will rapidly heat and cool the valves is if you run it with no exhaust at all.

the pipe that is on it will create a certain amount of back pressure, not as much as the stock pipe

@Badgerdance Sorry to say man, but the whole "backpressure" thing is a MYTH. think about it, the more back pressure you have, the longer the hot exhaust gas stays in contact with the valves. THAT seems a whole lot worse than simply running a straight pipe.

Please though correct me if I'm wrong. i'm jsut an enthusiast, I have no real technical training on the matter!

@ThePirateMD some one correct me if im wrong, but with out back pressure your valves cool fast which is what you dont want, cause the constant heating and cooling fucks them up, its only good if your doing short bursts of speed like drag races cause it breaths better.

burnt valves is questionable, these engines are tough and made to withstand ridiculously high temps, i had a friend with an r1 who road around with no baffles for years and never had a problem, and he beat on that bike pretty hard on the regular. not saying it cant happen, just by the time your having issues you probably looking for a newer bike anyways...

i left the pipe, just pulled the baffles out, sounds obnoxiously loud but also retains that deepness to the sound, well, at least up into 4-5k rpm then it screams, i get done riding my ears are ringing lol, sometimes i just ride around so i can listen to the engine - i love it!!!

There are some serious dangers with running a straight pipe for a long period of time. Your not getting enough exhaust backed up in your engine, so that combustion is taking place with a higher oxygen count, meaning its burning hotter. If you ride with a straight system for a long ride or leave that exhaust system like that to long, you will torch your valves and you risk seizing up your engine; which if it happens while at speed can become very ugly.

not gonna lie sounds amazing but straight piping gas engines isnt a very good idea. ur gonna burn ur exhaust valves up pretty quickly u have to have some kind of back pressure to prevent engine damage.
