Don't forget that before Germany invaded Poland, Russia already invaded parts of Poland in earlier 1939 and murdered thousands of helpless people, yet nobody declared war.

and if you take a look at post war germany in the years 45 to 50

you will see that germany paid a very high price in that war

total destruction of the whole country

@DShK127 superior fighting skills? that's is funny, SS and Germany lost the war. Some people will attribute the loss to poor tank models at the beginning of the war being defeated by the T-34 (i.e. Mark III and Mark IV). Others will blame an Luftwaffe airforce with no strategic bombers or ability to recruit large numbers of pilots. Others will blame Germans overstretching the supply lines during the invasion of the U.S.S.R. I say that is how you lose a war!

Those soldiers didnt wear their uniforms according to the strict Wehrmacht rules.

That young panzerfuhrer would surely have been transfered to a 'himmelfartskommando' for wearing his cap like that earlier on.

Seems like those soldiers are already planning for their enrollment in the upcoming Bundeswehr, with a drill and dressing style like that :-)

I believe tank/sp crews were allowed to wear their caps backwards at times so that the peak did not interfere with gun aiming or working inside the vehicle

it's not really a late version... definately not F or G as these had longer StuK 40 L/43 guns...

Finns had some 50 of them during battles in summer 1944. In Ihantala they destroyd 87 russian tanks in two weeks and lost only 3. But perhaps finnish massive artillery fire destroyed much more russian tanks. It was estimated that Luftwaffe unit Kuhlmey may have destroyed perhaps 200 russian tanks with Jabos and Stukas in 4 weeks.
