Educating the homeowners is a good thing. Even if they hire a pro it is good to have an overview of what to expect and a basis for asking questions. I will say the extensions can cause back pain or worse if you don't take it easy. Ladders are a big no-no for a newbie.
It seems nice and easy to spray on a soap solution, work its Simple Green magic and then rinse off ... although it doesn't work this way in my experience. I have had to scrub the mildew off of the siding using a 16' extension pole. Then it can be washed off with a washer.
That was very helpful thank you : ) I'm 19 and I dunno how to use a pressure washer but my friend's mom asked me to wash her house. Now I know how ^__^ yay lowes videos~
you need outdoor bleach, water does not do anything..is like when u take a shower you need soap? depends on the plants outdoor bleach dose not kill plants. you have to rinse before and after you wash the house...doing it for 8 years now
I'm sorry for any person who believes that for one you are to use chem. of any sort for any power washing unless you are going to clean the motor on your vehicle..For one if you knew anything about pressure cleaning (key word pressure/ power wash) if you have the right volume of water and p.s.i. you would never have a need for any chemicals.. All chem. no matter how GREEN they claim to be are leaving some form of residue behind, No matter what you have been told.. WHY KILL THE PLANTS WITH CHEM
@torque395 lol i just watched this to see what people thing is the "right" way and i agree. i own a local power washing company. this is so funny. but when people realize how hard doing it this way is, they call us! :)
@69RAMIAM69 i own a fleet of 10 trucks in my power washing company, i am a large operation, and would like to say your 110% WRONG. Chemicals are the only way to properly clean a house.
Hire a pro, homeowner and rental grade pressure washers are a waste of time. He is using too much pressure on the lower siding and not enough water on the uppers. You can't clean a house with a squirt gun.
@lucasmorter I'm not worried about damaging the siding; I'm worried about water getting underneath it and causing rot and mold. As it turns out, the answer seems to be to use an extension so that you can reach higher and avoid spraying up underneath the siding.
@pandurate oh i see, i do pressure washing every day and i have never taken that into consideration. this will dry up before it creates any mold or mildew. remember that using a pressure generally is about 40 percent as much water as a garden hose would use. especially if you do this in the summer. if you have vinyl or aluminum siding then that is a little different that is when you need to get out the scaffolding or a ladder with a painters arm at the top
@rchassereau I guess sarcasm is supposed to mean you've made a great point? Actually you have not. My lot is not level, and my house is quite tall. I have a ton of landscaping close to the house as well, which prevents the use of a ladder. Also, using a pressure washer on a ladder is not the smartest thing in the world to do, for hopefully obvious reasons. The answer is to use an appropriate extension. Oops, sorry: "It's called an extension... Use it." Wow. I feel so cool now.
@pandurate Actually you feel retarded for buying unnecessary extensions when in most cases you can use a ladder. Granted, I would agree that an extension is useful sometimes...I was just pointing out the obvious. In your case I would hire a professional, because you would most likely end up hurting yourself (probably from feeling to cocky about your intelligence).
@dejaybrock1979 because guys who know what they're doing don't have the face or personality this guy does. hmmm America wants pretty not informative. lol

@69RAMIAM69 This is dead wrong. If you are doing the job CORRECTLY you WILL use chemicals and NOT let the pressure do the work.

Uh... How do you avoid spraying under siding if you have a 2- or 3-story home?
pandurate 1 year ago 3
@pandurate you dont, once you are far enough away there is not enough pressure to damage the siding.

Too bad most people wait 20 years to clean their house in any fashion, then decide to wait another 20 years to do it again...
