  • I think the title of your video should be "My playing 'Angry Young Man'" instead of "Me playing 'Angry Young Man.'" You should consider using possessives with gerunds to ensure proper grammatical construction.

  • Very nicely played, speed it up though. It sou nds so much better fast.

  • ive been looking for a tutorial for soooo long on how to play this can someone please find me one or a place i can get the sheet music plz!

    Anyway nice job

  • you are playing the intro in 16th notes instead of 32nd like billly plays it

  • What!? I was told Billy Plays 16th notes. Anyhow... could you watch and comment my attached video? It's a bit more accurate. Thanks.

  • no billy plays 16th notes. the sheet music says 16th ntoes. I hate it when people asume its 32nd notes just because its fast. it all has to do with time signiture and tempo.

  • is there anyway you can email me the sheet music?

  • no I don't have or read sheet music. Sorry.

  • nice. just one suggestion. on the fast part (the beggining with the C's) use your middle finger on your left hand, and your pointer on your right. you will get a faster sound out of it. but anyways, good job on all the other parts of the song. perfect tempo. 4 stars

  • you're supposed to use the middle on the left hand and the thumb on the right... using the pointer would kill you, geez.

  • i know when I first heard the song I thought it was two separate pianos, and then I saw what a real master billy joel was

  • why do you have the pedal down in the very beginning?

  • cause I was playing it at half the time it should be and I wanted to make the Cs blend to sound closer together. Plus the transition between unsustaned notes and sustaned notes sounds funny when playing this song. You should be pumping the pedal during the intro tho. Billy does. My other video's much better. So if you're gonna rate one it should be that one.

  • theres 2 pianos on the original song right?

  • No. Just two really fast hands! I've noticed it's actually more about timing than speen tho. However this video is in the early stages of learning the song. I've improved since and posted a video response of a better one.

  • Very nice job man, Though i know it should be faster, i would kill to play even that, keep up the good work, and people stop flaming him when you couldn't even do it.

  • i actually think you did pretty well! ive been working on this song and i cant get that fast either. there are many songs where you are going to start out slow and then eventually be able to get up to speed. so dont worry, those other guys who commented probably cant even play the piano!

  • not bad, a bit slow, but pretty good overall

  • A loser huh? Thanks! Losers try, and fail; Which was what I did with this video. Unfortunately for you I've become much more successful with this song which was why I posted a more recent/revised video. At least losers TRY... I don't see you doing FUCK all! OOYA!!

  • Why would you even come on here and say that? Even if you could play better than him, what kind of self promoting asshole are you?

  • I'm speaking to ooya15 here

  • Really emrys831, who the hell says that?

  • Anyone with half a fucking brain says that, queefbag.

  • allright pretty well playing ;)

only thing is, that u play the first part abit to slow :) you have to be Real real fast with your fingers on the middle C.

    keep it up :)

  • gerunds always need a possessive. it should be called "my playing...," not "me playing..." . . . bitch

  • Have you been snortin blocks? I don't refer to myself as "my"...? WTF!

  • It's not about your referring to yourself as "my." It is about using proper English grammar. A gerund, a noun formed from a verb, always has a possessive. To call this a video of you playing piano is to say that the video is playing the piano. To call it a video of your playing piano is to name it correctly.

  • Well then.... Had you have made a video on using proper sentence structure and grammar; perhaps I would have come across it and would know better by now. Or... maybe you should find something better to do than come to me with every minuscule, unperfected detail you happen to notice! Nobody likes someone who finds a flaw in people in general, or any given situation. To think you're better or above everyone else is quite ironic actually.

  • First off, I do not think I am better than or above everyone else in any way. I never claimed to.

Second, I would encourage you to look up the definition of irony, and to try to use a better word to insult me.

As I said, I do not think I am better than you, but the poor diction used in your thinly veiled insult and your initial mistake in the using of a gerund do lead me to believe that I am more intelligent.

Lastly, please do not try to talk down to me. You are not very good at it.

  • Whatever you say Frasier.

  • Oh, and P.S. You're missing a comma between "gerund" and "do". Sorry to "rain on your parade" there. (Run-on sentences are a bitch eh?)

So I guess the lesson here, is that even you have a lot to learn.

  • lol did you watch the video just to say bad things ? Wtf

  • The part with the octave 'C' on the right hand and the bass line going down on the left hand, should alternate with each other and not land on keys at the same time. Otherwise nice job. Can you please do a 'how to play' on the intro? I don't see your hand moving as fast as I hear the 'C' note hitting. Is there a technique for this? You make it look so easy.

  • you mean the part at 1:38secs into it? Yea... this is an old recording. I fixed that already. Also the intro is only in half time. I'm playing 8th notes and I should be playing 16th notes. (That's why my hands don't look like they're moving fast enough). I think I've got the 16th notes down now... I'm not sure. Watch my vid called "prelude to angry young man".

  • to kinda see what the guy below was talking about, watch my take on it. i'm hungover in the video and it's sloppy as hell, but its a good close up of the idea.

  • yea... I'm better at it now than I was in this vid, but still not there yet. I need so see it slowed way down I think.

  • I'll try. If I do it'll look like my 1st video I shot with my webcam. So it'll be a crap quality, but you should be able to hear if it's the right speed and timing.

  • i really liked what you did with the verse. sweet. and nice piano haha. once you get that intro, it'll sound great. what you're doin in the beginning, is playing 8th notes instead of 16th notes, meaning you're going half as fast as you're supposed to. You're using the right fingers and everything, just not the right speed. i hope that helps. but it sounds good now, just needs a little refining

  • Thanks that helps a lot!! I've gotten a little better with the intro since this vid, but I'm still not quite there yet. I think I can hit the C alone and get it close to 16th note timing, but it's hard for me to work in the rest of the right hand "stuff" at the same time. As you've said everything else I've got down great (and even better now) which is why the intro is bothering me soo much. That's the only area that needs work.

  • its probably the hardest part, it helped me that im a drummer and 16th notes come easy, its simple once you get it figured out

  • humm.... So that's what a drum roll is I'm assuming?? I work with a guy who's a drumber, do you think he could shine some light on the situation even though he doesn't play piano?

  • well a drum roll is generally 16th notes except playing 2 hits in each hand at a time, so really you end up playing 32 notes in 1 beat. but anyway, if you just set up a metronome with the speed between 172-198 bpm, and just tap 16th notes it helps with consistency, and probably eventually you'll be able to add in the thirds on top

  • Humm... I might have one kicking around somewhere. Thanks again for your help.

  • if you don't have one, i'm sure you can find a simple one on the internet somewhere.

    n.p.

  • Ok this is the last question I promise. If I were to slow it down and eventually work my way up to speed with practice, how many Cs would I have to hit in between thirds?

  • it'd be

    CCCC3CCCCC3CCCCC3CCCCC3CCCCC3CCC

    BCCC3CCCCC3CCCCC3CCCCC3CCCCCBCCC

    C=C

    B=B

    3=3rd

    and then its repeated.

  • thanks. I think I've got it down now:)

  • post a video whenever you get around to it, i'm interested.

  • this is terrible....

  • That's vague. Are you sure you didn't think this was filmed by you?

  • Whoopeee!
