While this video sounds like it might be about felicific calculus, rather it is about (what should be) the simple observation that sentient machines can experience suffering and that any other sentient machine should have sufficient theory of mind to have internalised this fact.
I listened to the whole thing, and I can only take away a small kernel of a message. I liked that bit, the rest just seemed to be a stream of consciousness sort of rambling, was also not annoying. I'm am going to try and find the video you are responding to in order to figure out what it is you're getting at.
Could I ask that you fit the half messages together and form a complete idea and then discuss it thoroughly. I'm interested in understanding your message. Just make it clearer for me. Thx.
there are sources of energy and energy drains (in transistors) and by placing a rat neuron on a transistor the energy flow (movement) can be measured objectively now... cell consumption/ cell reproduction/ "addictions" are all but measurements of energetic linkages between sources & drains. humans exist IN BETWEEN positive & negative potentialites. the human body is electrical, chemical, biological. the mind is generated from the characteristics of this trinity - ECB - every cell believes this.
It's funny how you let the attitudes of others control your emotional outlook. I control my emotions. Humans can do and say what they want at any time and I am completely at ease. I love life because I choose that emotion. My environment is a separate part of me. I control my environment. I love and eliminate that which is not peace in my life.
the point is the MATH IS COMPARATIVE, GREATER than LESS than... is this not clear, the difference between in itself judgment and comparison. "Making someone miserable" is a comparison between two states involving the same person.
This is how judgement always works, judging two or more things. The judgements you do, the "math" you do, is all comparative, you only have to notice it and understand better what you are doing.
@pyrrho314 The world is not always a mathematical "does everything balance" game...unfortunate that we always have to try to find patterns in everything, I think it's brings all sorts of trouble.
I dont feel physical pain or pleasure. Im jealous.

When a rabbit pokes it's head out of a burrow, it sees grass and bushes.
100,000 years ago when a rabbit poked it's head out of a burrow it saw perhaps slightly different grass & bushes.
Humans have a different world each generation, whole sectors are rebuilt, new knowledge.
Modern culture began with agriculture, Good book about this IMO is 'Art & Culture' by Leon Trotsky.
Humans change the world and thus themselves.
The point of describing the world is to change it.
it's what philosophy is for.

It's not immune to judgement.
It's immune to ABSOLUTE DOGMATIC JUDGEMENT, and non-comparative.
I believe in relative judgement, COMPARATIVE judgement.
pyrrho314 1 year ago
@pyrrho314 true. once you realize what controls you and when, you will have a choice, and as I put it in lyrics:
"as creatures evolved to kill or be killed,
another evolved to rustle your will,
it feeds of your fear, your lust and your greed,
it hides behind pain and it grows while you sleep.
every time you are challenged, you're forced to decide,
to surrender your will or to stand up and fight."
I wanted it to sound a bit heavy-metal like so I exaggerated a bit, but the meaning's still there...
