  • Ronnie was around 46 or so here, David in his 30's and either so it does not make sense to compare them at this state of time, but Ronnie for sure was much stronger he has a max out Record of 600 Lb's for 1 rep, David on the other hand has not benched 600 pounds yet, there fore Coleman's stats are higher.

  • @AznAndy562 what i believe an my theory is that it really don't matter if ronnie does'nt lockout our david only goes half-way....either way your getting stronger. david bench is 315 going halfway an ronnie bench probably 500-600 never locking out, so you have to look at the positive side to all this that these guys must be doing something right if they can lift that much.

  • Well I think the best test of strength is how much you can do for 1. After all that is a MAX effort.

  • @remotehog1 Being 44 years old in strength world is your plus, not some kind of weakness. You should be on top of the game in this age. At your best. You need 15-20 years to reach the peak performance.

    And better way to test your strength is to go for one not 6 or 4. It is also pretty good mental game.

  • I don't consider any of those reps that david did full reps....you have to hit that chest. It makes so much more of a difference, otherwise powerlifters would bench off a board all the time. Not trying to hate, just saying that it's not fair to the other muscles in the chest that aren't getting worked.

Scott Mendelson pressed 715 pounds raw and he's powerlifter and nor some kind of foumy weak ass bodybuilder. Olympic weightlifters, powerlifters and strongman competitors will smoke Coleman personal bests anytime. Bodybuilders are week as shit compare to powerlifters.

For example Ronnie Colman can barely walk and he's completely unusable for daily activities just like any other heavyweight. If you have ever carried 300 pounds than you know what I'm talking about. It doesn't matter if you fat or muscle guy, the leverage is what matters.

  • well if a lift is a lift, they were "competeing" with not doing full ROM...Ronnie wasn't locking out and Dave wasn't going all the way down...put them together...they could get 315 X 20

  • its rom that matters, not if you touch your chest or not. if you lower your elbows too much, it will only hurt your shoulders and do nothing for your chest. imagine two ppl lying on the floor doing a floorpress, one of them is a guy with big pecs and shorter arms, the other guy is the opposite. the first guy is gonna hit his chest, the other guy wont. but their rom is still the same. you should not hit your chest in benchpress if you dont have the structure for it

  • To protect shoulders, bring your shoulder blades together and put your arms at a 45 degree angle from the body. However, the 45 degrees does take focus away from the chest a little.

  • Reps dont count if it doesn't hit the chest Ronnie does handle 495 pretty well.Punk has good genetics to get a descent build with the shitty form he uses

  • davids ROM was full extension, thereby taking the tension off the chest and onto the tricep, whereas ronnie was not extending, thereby keeping tension on the chest throughout and making it much harder. also, that was ronnies third set from the looks of the video and in the other sets, ronnies feet were off tyhe floor, AGAIN makin it harder for big ron and tiring his chest more. Despite all this, David JUST ABOUT beat him. im sure if ronnie knew he was competing, he wuda slaughtered david. punk
