honestly i think side airbags deploying is a good idea because that well controls the movement of the dummies head making sure that it isnt flying out of the window, and it probably also protects from flying debree. exuse me if my spelling is incorrect.
if the sabs deploy too early in a frontal impact, they might hurt the passengers and will have deflated by the time the occupants need them. if they deploy too late, they will hit the occupants' heads hard as they rebound into their seats
That's why they should only go off in SIDE impacts. You cannot use a door in which the curtain airbag has deployed over, as the curtain is an obstacle. Plus if there is a SIDE impact after the frontal, the curtain will help in the side as opposed to being a used up bag.
If your vehicle finishes the crash on the road, then it could happen easily. Airbags are obstacles because there may be a few people that cannot lift them and many more that are too dazed after the crash. Plus the bag itself can cause head injury, it deploys at 40 to 300 mph.

The Fit is the same as the Jazz in Europe but how come on the first Jazz 2002 to 2008 we had no curtain air bags? :S

yes, they do help when deployed, the torso's also deploy, but tests say they protected the dummies head.

okay listen dude - what are the chances of having a vehicle hit you in the side right after a front crash?
how the FUCK is an airbag an obstacle??
fuck man don't be daft! anyone can lift up an airbag! it weighs like what, third of a pound?
