OCZ vertex 3 Max IOPS is a special edition with 34nm NAND. from what i know, OCZ rolled out this model with limited quantity cuz this was the last batch of 34nm NAND they had. hence the better performance.
Don't buy this. Or cheap out on a SSD. If you want one that will last. Corsair and OCZ use the best chips for their highend line of SSD's. Reviews also give them gold awards and such. My OCZ Vertex 3 Max really takes a beating. Was worth it for a OS drive.
@Rowsol84 Ahh but it takes a fool to know one. ;) Also OCZ Vertex 3 Max has the best reviews from ALL review websites. Anything else is just fanboy talk. As far as I am concerned you don't know sheat about SSD's.
@BrooklynXT1 Vertex plus is one of the worst reviewed SSDs on newegg. Also, saying OCZ and Corsair are the best is stupid because they don't make the controllers. BTW, I haven't forgotten about OCZ changing the nand size and not telling anyone.
@Stehv128 ssd's (to my knowledge of) will not survive in a raid setup.
when working on a project and you made sure its saved, the worst thing you can possibly think of happens; that ssd failed and corrupted all your data.
what do you do then? take it to a data recovery lab? nope, all the long hard work you put into that project is gone forever.
with high-end hdd's you have the luxury of using raid and its hotswap capabilities. allowing you to replace the failed drive while still working
@bmw2go11 That might have been true with early sandforce SSD's. But not in this generation. Even though trim is turned off in raid. They are still very durable. Modern SSD's fail at 150TB or greater as long as the brand is good and doesn't cheap out on internals.

Buy a portable hard drive. It is cheaper and you have more storage.
SimoneLuca1995 3 weeks ago
@SimoneLuca1995 Yeah, but I think the main difference between them is the speed.
genghisquan 3 weeks ago
That's an odd picture to put onto the front of a SSD box. Why a bird, would think a cheetah would be a better choice.
Prence 3 weeks ago
@Prence Maybe they're referencing the high speeds at which the hummingbird flaps its wings.
genghisquan 3 weeks ago
@genghisquan Good point. But still think a cheetah would have been a better choice, cheetahs are quick and silent.
Prence 3 weeks ago
That a-data hummingbird just looks cheap

@OrangeLight08 Yeah patriots, Corsair, and OCZ are much better anyways. So is kingston.

ssd is great for laptops and gamers that want super fast loading times.
but for real work, i think the 10k raptors are still top of the line when used in raid

@bmw2go11 No, they aren't. They are far behind modern SSD's both in sequential and random access speeds.
