@956Joeboy what version of ubuntu do you use? when i was using 10.10 gta sa was not starting but when i installed the 11.04 and added all the directx dll files on winw 1.3 it worked cool but i had sound probs but now on 11.10 i max it out and the sound is ok
This sounds kind of lame but for years i couldn't figure out those damn flying controls in san andreas, it tried on ps2 with some success but on pc it was nightmare. im sticking to motorcycles and jetpacks.
I have the GTA San Andreas DVD-ROM cracked and game works fine under windows XP, without needing the DVD ROM (after installing and replacing the specific .exe file that runs the game with the one from the DVD ROM).
Does this take place too under wine? Is the installation process the same as that under XP?
Can I do this without a CD? my damn computer just cracked my GTA: SA disk. I put it in completely normal, i heard a ticking sound, and when i took the disk out theres a huge crack in it!!
@TitanicMasta Maybe a cracked version of the game might do it. I tried to trick mine by writing the DVD to an ISO file and mount that as a CD in Wine, sadly it didn't work though.
I have managed that trick with other games so it must be something in GTA that checks whether its really a DVD
@nonly1n Most games that are working with Wine are better in linux basically because you don't have the firewall, antivirus and stuff to slow down everything. And spyware you might have on your pc can also slow down the game. Wine will give you a better gaming experience.
The games aren't buggy if you install them the right way.
If you go to the wineHQ website and search their apps database, they usually include installation instructions and all that stuff.
hey dude can you give me your iso file? plz!! i got the game from mt friend and it was full of mods and its too slow now!

What controller are you using for this, I have a xbox360 controller but can't seem to get wine to use it. Thanks
Garagegoblin 6 months ago
@Garagegoblin Im using an old USB joypad. My PS3 controller won't work properly in Wine either.
I think you have to make some changes to the Wine registry to get a dual/triple axis controller working, but I can't find a much info about it.

Use PlayOnLinux when you install games

@DARKZLLZ hehe I haven't played the game for a few years but I jumped straight in and did some flying.
I need to try GTA IV again, I tried it last year and it was pretty poor in Wine
