  • THE GRAPHICS ARE SLOW...?

  • @VISIONARYGAMERO1 i have not a gaming pc and the game runs very well on ubuntu 11.10 maxed out so, i dont think so

  • i got is running befor i installed v1.0.1 and why s the sound all fucked up?

  • @956Joeboy Are you using Wine 1.3.37? I think theres been a duff update with this latest release as the sound is messed up on my system too

  • @956Joeboy what version of ubuntu do you use? when i was using 10.10 gta sa was not starting but when i installed the 11.04 and added all the directx dll files on winw 1.3 it worked cool but i had sound probs but now on 11.10 i max it out and the sound is ok

  • Im a noob so how do i even get it onto wine and what if my game cd is v2.0

  • This sounds kind of lame but for years i couldn't figure out those damn flying controls in san andreas, it tried on ps2 with some success but on pc it was nightmare. im sticking to motorcycles and jetpacks.

  • where do i download it from when i pressed the link it went me to inforamation

do i have to buy the game?

  • where do i download it from when i pressed the link it went me to inforamation

  • I have the GTA San Andreas DVD-ROM cracked and game works fine under windows XP, without needing the DVD ROM (after installing and replacing the specific .exe file that runs the game with the one from the DVD ROM).

Does this take place too under wine? Is the installation process the same as that under XP?

  • @chalkomatas I would expect it to be exactly the same in WIne. Installation process is exactly the same as well.

  • Can I do this without a CD? my damn computer just cracked my GTA: SA disk. I put it in completely normal, i heard a ticking sound, and when i took the disk out theres a huge crack in it!!

  • @TitanicMasta Maybe a cracked version of the game might do it. I tried to trick mine by writing the DVD to an ISO file and mount that as a CD in Wine, sadly it didn't work though.

I have managed that trick with other games so it must be something in GTA that checks whether its really a DVD

  • Who's the 2 morons who clicked 'don't like'? What's not to like? Idiots

  • What are the CPU and VGA specs? Phenom II X6?

  • @growingneeds Yeah Phenom x6 3.3Ghz, nvidia GTX 560Ti. Just a bit above the original specs of the game :-)

  • @EpilepticElbow an unstable development version of kdenlive

  • What controller are you using for this, I have a xbox360 controller but can't seem to get wine to use it. Thanks

  • @Garagegoblin Im using an old USB joypad. My PS3 controller won't work properly in Wine either.

I think you have to make some changes to the Wine registry to get a dual/triple axis controller working, but I can't find a much info about it.

  • Cool Review as always Quids - Thanks.

  • @OmenX13 Cheers mate

  • lol "the way it's meant to be played"

  • can u play sa-mp? :D

  • i find games load faster in wine than windows, but theres always something buggy,

  • @nonly1n Most games that are working with Wine are better in linux basically because you don't have the firewall, antivirus and stuff to slow down everything. And spyware you might have on your pc can also slow down the game. Wine will give you a better gaming experience.

The games aren't buggy if you install them the right way.

If you go to the wineHQ website and search their apps database, they usually include installation instructions and all that stuff.

Use PlayOnLinux when you install games

  • @DARKZLLZ hehe I haven't played the game for a few years but I jumped straight in and did some flying.

I need to try GTA IV again, I tried it last year and it was pretty poor in Wine
