@1009aza Yes, all new hunters must have already passed a hunter's safety course to hunt in Ohio, or be able to demonstrate that they have hunted in the United States/Ohio previously. The course is not difficult, and it is offered free of charge.
@1009aza Not all Ohio wildlife areas are open to deer hunting, so you'll need to check in with the district offices (there are 5 districts) in the area you want to hunt. Ohio law states that shotguns must be plugged to allow a maximum of only three shells in the shotgun, two in the magazine and one in the chamber. You'll need to familiarize yourself with Ohio wildlife laws by getting a regulations book, or by visiting their website.
Not everybody has to use crude language or cynicism to express how they feel. If you'll notice, none of our videos contain exceptional language. Roger was pleased that he had taken one of the "substandard" bucks out of the herd as we had planned. Sometimes "tickled", or "giddy" or "very proud" are exclamatory enough.
Now I'm gonna behave ok. But the guy who shot the baby buck ought to have his butt kicked by QDM people. Why did you shoot a baby buck for? Don't you know that by letting that go you could have increased your chances of more bucks to shoot at. If you wanted meat, shoot a doe. Don't claim that this is an Ohio Buck for ya. You might make people think thats big for here and the most important thing is; What a Waste of Life. I just can't believe what I saw. You possible had to take that young deer.
That was a nice sized buck with a smaller rack, and one that we deemed appropriate to remove from the gene pool of the area. There was also a big bodied spike that we were willing take out, but he never came back. We do try to practice QDM, but in a pseudo-rural area surrounded by increasing housing, QDM is at the mercy of others in the area more so than the small plot of land we have access to there. I appreciate your respect for QDM and I'm glad you can follow it in your neck of the woods.
