Hello Bonnie & viewers of this video, I have a request and as this moving story appears to be a good place to reach the people I'm looking for, I hope it's okay that I post here.
I'm an actor & theatre practitioner in London, currently working on a verbatim project on the AMERICAN HEALTH CARE SYSTEM and needing willing participants to share their views & experiences. Please click my Channel for more info. I'm looking forward to hearing from you, Bonnie, or any page visitor. Thanks.
Wonder how the Obama government will find a way to right the injustice of the American healthcare system. Who wouldn't show compassion for those Americans who are caught up in the dog-end of a greed-based healthcare system. There is no soul in the heart of these private healthcare insurers.
this is so disgusting what the hell are ppl doing in iraq fighting a war that makes no sense when we have ppl here dying because of helth care we wanna go help another countrys yet we cant even fix the problems this country has
@JulieRebu07 Learn something or just take the blind out of your eyes your government lives from ppl misery and always been like that, there's only one cure for all this... Jesus and that is not far from happening! God have emercy of all of us till then!
I think democrats should use republican tactics. How about if we start calling insurance company CEO's murderers and accuse of them of trying to kill off the poor and the working class!!!
This is outragous. I have blue cross blue sheild and type 1 diabetes. I get great coverage. I am appaled to hear that this happened. Do you have a terminal illness? I am so sorry that you have to go through this. Did you take them to court yet?
per my relatives in russia and holland, you would not receive treatments under their 'free health care'. our new plans models us after theirs and the EU. don't think you would get treatment then either. i am a terminal cancer patient and ppl like me won't get treatment either as it will not be 'cost effective'.
i am so sorry for this lady, i know how she feels facing imminate death myself.
The thing with the wheelchair is that medical equipment is not always covered in Canada such as glasses, walkers etc. But those on social assistance get these things for free. I live in Toronto and health care is excellent and free - most of Canada is not as good as Toronto, London or Hamilton or Kingston. Quebec sucks big time because of the political situation there. Years back politicians hid funds from the people for health and used it for separation - idiots.
my friend grew too big for his wheelchair at 16 years old, they wouldn't help him get a new one because his brother died at 18 of the same disease (MD) they said it wasn't worth getting a wheelchair for a kid who would probably be dead in 2 years. And that's in Canada where everyone is suppost to have free healthcare. you are not alone. Your friends help you at least. No excuse for the crappy way the government does things.
You're not just a name and number; you're a liability against your HMO's billion dollar profits!! What an insane and hideous system we've got! Wake up and listen to Ms. Drew's testimony: you can work hard and make a lot of money and buy your own health coverage- BUT THAT DOES NOT INSURE THAT YOU WILL GET CARE!!!!
I agree. As a Canadian now living in the U.S. I've met more than one person with a medical condition they're unable to treat because they don't have the money.
COME TO CANADA, WE'LL TAKE CARE OF YOU!!! We could always use some more populating anyway, so...
GOD BLESS YOU BONNIE !!! BSBC gave me VIOXX when I had Vulvar cancer ..I now have no Health care and I will never BUY any again !I will DIE !or I rather DIE !!!
Dermatomyositis is inflammation of the skin and the muscles underneath, involving swelling, discoloration and degeneration of collagen. Females are twice as likely to get it as men. Vasculitis is inflammation of a blood vessel(s). Normally, neither disease is fatal, but in the case of chronic vasculitis, tissues/organs supplied by the affected vessels don't get enough blood, sometimes resulting in death. I'm assuming Bonnie has both.
Corporations have bullied the United States Goverenment into eating their own. Organized Fraud, with price fixing, price gouging. The American goverenment is powerless against Big Business conglomerates that think the real workers are nothing but paid slaves , expendable . Stand up to them alone and lose your job or your life . If we stand together we can make a difference.
Plus, another downfall is that often people get treatments they would not normally get or don't need. Such as a 12 year old in the UK got breast implants, but a person waiting for surgery couldn't get it because of the massive wait. When something is free people will overuse. Just remember the old lesson that if you pay for something you will appreciate it more, doesn't this apply here? If they pay won't they respect their privileges?
I disagree that all need healthcare. The obvious example would be, what happened before there was healthcare? yes, the average age was lower, but there weren't dead bodies everywhere, were there? People got along fine, if they could afford it they received it. Again, if you buy the right insurance you will not have to pay, except through deductibles. I admit the current system has its flaws, but the most significant flaw is government intervention.
Dude, ALL PEOPLE GET SICK. ALL PEOPLE NEED HEALTH CARE INSURANCE PERIOD . I WORK IN THE FIELD AND I AM TELLING YOU THIS FROM EXPERIENCE AND OBSERVATIONS FROM WITHIN THE FIELD THE SYSTEM IS BROKEN.
No, you're missing my point. I never stated that all people get sick, I completely agree, but what I said was that if healthcare gets nationalizied, the poor will use it first, why? Not because they are more prone to being sick, but because they did not have access to it before. It's not about rich or poor, it's just that they did not have the product and we know, if something is free, we will use more
And thats wrong? More healthcare is wrong? More opportunity to get health care can lead to preventative medicine vs. Reactive medicine and actually decrease costs before the cost of care gets too high.
Yes, but you must even see that healthcare will be overused if it is free. I agree, in some cases it may help because it could prevent greater harm, but in the majority it has already shown it is not. Canada and the UK both have national healthcare and both have some of the greatest waiting times. In the UK 1 out of every 8 patients won't get the surgery they need within a year and in Canada it is not uncommon to wait up to 40 weeks for a surgery!
If that is their only flaw, then Im on board. We arent that stupid in this country where we couldnt get around that. Look at their systems and make them better here. We have more money and more resources here to make it work. And I dont think it will be overused. I have health insurance and trust me Im not running to the doctor. I don tthink people are looking to go to the doctor for every little thing. More people will have access thats all.
Yes, but see, the reason why you don't overuse the healthcare is because you pay for it. If it cost nothing, you would be more prone to go check things that you may not have checked before. Yes, but think about it, why do you think we are the most successful country? One of the major differences is that we are a capitalism society. the Societ Union went with these government-expanding policies, and look what happened to them
@sitdown248 I often wonder how Shills like you sleep at night. Always with these ridiculous sophomoric arguments like "What did people do before Health Care. The current scam is pretty good as long as you buy the right insurance." What about people who CAN'T AFFORD it. "Oh well, back in the frontier days..../" People like you are mental. We are supposed to EVOLVE as a society. But I guess for fucks like you it's "I Got Mine. Fuck Everyone Else. Typical American.
Often, we have voluntary systems such as voluntary public schools, but yet we still force the people who do not use the system to pay, why is this? There is really only one answer, the system will not function without the income of all the working because common sense tells us that if there is universally free healthcare, the people who cannot afford normal healthcare will be the first users, so the working will have to cover their costs
Why will they be the first users? dont all need healthcare? Everyone gets sick and has major illnesses, this is not limited to the poor. Granted the poor are more susceptable. Are you prepared to spent thousands of dollars on healthcare if you become ill or disabled?
Why will they be the first users of national healthcare? They cannot afford private healthcare or choose not to buy it, so if they could receive healthcare for free, obviously they would immediately use something that is free of charge. There has been data showing that people without insurance often avoid receiving care for fear of cost, so if it cost nothing obviously they would use it
what an interesting thought, someone gets sick they seek care. No kidding? Poor or Rich ALL people get sick and need healthcare. Is it right for society not to treat the sick because they cant afford it? Just because someone is poor means they shouldnt have illness treated? what puts some rich shit head above someone else just because they are poor? you make it sound wrong for someone who is poor to use the healthcare system. You are an insensitive ass.
Is it right for society not to treat the poor? It depends how you want to go about it. If people want to give their own money to pay for the healthcare, absolutely, but not if you want the government to pay for it. It should be voluntary, not stolen goods. I'm not insensitive, the real people who are insensitive are those who are willing to steal for working Americans to pay for lazy ones.
@sitdown248 Yes, because everyone who is Poor or can't afford healhcare is Lazy. You are such an ignorant piece of shit. Someone should Curb Stomp your useless ass to give you a chance to indulge in that wonderful "privilege" you think those who can't afford it should be denied. How much do you get paid to post this tripe?
It's not the government's responsiblity, that's why it's happening, get a job, pay for it. The government's job is to protect people's rights, not give our free privileges. Too lazy to work, then we're to lazy to give service
Do I want her to work? No, she should have worked prior to this and saved the money. I'm not insensitive, it's just absolutely insane to base the entire nation off one woman who did not prepare herself
So you are supposed to spend your life preparing for some rare disease or serious illness by saving your own money? The Insurance that she paid for all her life should pay for it. There are millions of people in this country in the same position they are living on just enough to get by and if they lose their job they are screwed. If they get sick they have no insurance.Good to know that you have lived the perfect life and have prepared for serious illness. No one can plan for that.
Hey, she should have had her insurance deal set up so that it would cover her. Yes, you can plan, by saving money and also getting good insurance. Most likely, not sure I don't know her, but she got the cheap insurance and didn't buy extended medical cover under her coverage. When buying insurance that's a must have, but if she didn't then that's her fault
Yeah there ya go talking like a truely ignorant conservative. Do you understand that not all people are not in a position to just buy extra? That they just dont have the money to spend on it? Saving money may be easy for you but for millions of Americans its not that easy when you are only making minimum wage or even 20-30 thousand a year jobs its tough. What are her other bills supposed to just disappear?
Yes, but who's fault is that? It's their fault. Minimum wage jobs are not meant as careers, they are meant for people like teens who don't have to live off that salary. Why should we pay for their mistake? If they changed their life they could, but they choose not to and want us to pay for it
Well not all peoples lives are as perfect as yours what can I say. You obviously have no sympathy for those less fortunate. Im not saying that you have to coddle them but the point of this is that Healthcare should be universal. Just because someone can't afford healthcare doesnt mean you let them die. How Jesus like is that?
Would Jesus let someone suffer because they couldnt pay?I dont think so.
Oh, I have nothing against freewill donations, actually very often I am one of the biggest donaters. I believe that VOLUNTARY donation is great, but when you force people to pay for others that is stealing. Universal healthcare takes from the working and gives to the non-working in a stealing manner. If you really want it to be fair, make it a voluntary pay system in that we only pay if we use the system.
thats right. go the self made man¡¡¡.... until a bad one get you... i cant beleve there is people thinking like you. Well... yes i can, people like you made this shit happen
When there is government intervention, many peopel receive the healthcare free although they cannot afford it, so what must a any good business do, to retain profits? Raise prices or cut services, and since they must provide the services, they can only raise prices, which sends healthcare costs to astronomical heights
If everyone had access to healthcare including the poor,1st it would create a preventative approach to medicine as people would get treated earlier. Most people who dont have the means to pay for healthcare wait and wait until it is so serious that it requires the pricier options If they seek care earlier they will get more preventative care which is in the long run cheaper than reactive care.
@tragicallyhiprule The guy is obviously a paid shill. They are all over the internet, and are paid to disrupt the comment sections of YouTube, and many other message boards. After reading through this guys bullshit, it's practically Copy/Paste of other things i have seen on the net. These people are vile, predatory assholes. Take with many grains of salt.
Dear Sir/Madam, After working hard for over 25 years and built a decent life for my self and my family, because of and due to the last 10 years of persistent epileptic seizures, I lost my wife, my home, my job, my car and my driving license to become destitute homeless. I've been told by Stanford University, I need brain surgery to cure my seizures but I don't have health insurance. Can you please help, Thank you, Regards, Gerrie
You must have been the captain of your high school's debate team. Like I said in my reply to you, "Thank you for demonstrating my point. Your lack of verbal articulation demonstrates both your own stupidity and that of your idealogy. Don't let anyone keep you quiet."
I appears to me that she IS getting the care she needs. Unfortunately, she is VERY ill (and this is what severe illness looks like.) Receiving care in a hospital, rather than at home, DOESN'T mean she will get better. Even current Gov't run health programs wouldn't keep her in a hospital (they would probably place her in a nursing home.) So HOW would universal healthcare for everyong change her situation for the better?
I'm sorry for her and her illness, but the idealogy she is promoting is UNVIABLE. (As an attorney, she should know that if she chooses to use her illness to promote her idealogy, it is now fair game for adversarial cross-examination.) Perhaps she should read the Dr. David Gratzer's book "The Cure: How Captalism Can Save American Health Care"
Garoumec, why do you spew forth hatred instead of arguing your position? I agree that our current system has problems, but advocating universal national health care is not the answer. Your comments suggest that you ADVOCATE hatred. Tsk, tsk.
dane3026..I'm so sorry for saying that I want you to get something awful and for calling you a stupid fuck..I am so sorry...I meant to say that I wish you get sick with cancer and or a brain tumor. You are crazy if you think that I'm gonna argue with you over Universal Care on a vid posted by people who are terribly sick.I do have the sense of decency ,sir.I am not advocating hatred,I just want you to get sick with cancer.
Wrong! Wrong! Wrong, again! These videos are NOT posted "BY" people who are terribly sick. These videos are posted by the California Nurses Association to ADVOCATE LEGISLATIVE POLICY (i.e., politics). I disagree with the politics! I'm sympathetic to, agreeable to, favorable to the notion that these people should be helped, but NOT by legislating National Universal Health Care.
On those vids,I see people who are teribly sick. I don't care who post those vids.I know you disagree and that is the reason why I think a tumor of the brain,a cancer,a stroke would be a good for somone like you. Then,I will be happy to listen to your gibberish. I don't want you to think I wish youy dead,I just pray and beg that you get a long long incurible disease.
I don't care who posted the videos either. But I do care if the ideaology promoted IN the video is good for America or bad for America. Perhaps these sick people should advocate a health care solution that would be good for America.
How do you know that she's getting the healthcare she needs? Indeed, I agree that nothing guarantees that she will get better, or not develop something new, but how are you able to make this judgement? Are you her doctor? Do you know the specifics of her particular disease and any other associated conditions?
I already alluded to what I would have in place of Universal Healthcare; Dr. Grazter advocates it in his book "The Cure: How Capitalism Can Save American Health Care" In the same thinking are: "The Singularity is Near: When humans transcend biology" by Ray Kurzweil and "Rational Exuberance: Silencing the enemies of growth and why the future is better than you think" by Michael Mandel (for that matter we might as well throw in "Against the Gods: the remarkable story of risk" by Peter Bernstein)
Given the choice between a government benefit program and the needs of society met by the innovations of that same society (which is the essential link of all four of the previously mentioned books) I CHOOSE THE LATTER!!!
So you choose more of the same? In the UK, you can go to whichever doctor you prefer, and those doctors are given bonuses based on how pleased you are with their performance, and how healthy you are afterward. Within the current US system, doctors seem to be given bonuses for denying care.
I believe that the issue most proponents of socialized health care are worried about, is that not everyone will be covered. In a purely capitalist system, there will be the uninsurable, those whom it would be economically infeasible to insure. Which all goes counter to the whole concept of health insurance-- which is that everyone pays in, so that those who are, or become the worst off are taken care of, should something bad happen.
You state, "I believe that the issue most proponents of socialized health care are worried about, is [in a purely capitalist system]not everyone will be covered." Here is a point we both agree on but from opposite sides of the issue.
In order to insure that small portion of the population that are chronically sick and poor we should have the *blanket* of National Healthcare? I say, we need (as in, it is essential and we absolutely must) allow creative individuals to innovate new ways of meeting the varied demands of sickness prevention and healthcare through within a 'laissez-faire' market while, yes, providing some safety net for the chronically sick and poor.
The entire concept of health care is for doctors to make money, what part of that does it go against? By forcing doctors to treat patients the government violates the first amendment's "freedom of assembly"
a company only want to maximize profits. they do what they have to do to rich that. thats why healtcare must not be in private hands. healtcare is a human right, not a "rich" human right. think how much your goverment spend on preserve private rights and think about how many die...
Yes, but maximizing profits is good. The only way they can mazimize profits is by giving us what we want and what do we want? Good service, so what will they provide to make profits, good service. Now, what makes the government stick around? Tax money, plain and simple. Now, do they have to provide good service to get tax money? I don't know, let's look around, public schools-nope, roads-nope, post office-nope. Now we want to trust them with healthcare?
Is good only if the service or product that a company provides is a comercial one. Im not sayig that everything must be on the goverment hand... but those who havent the grace of been born on a rich family need someone who take care of them.and a company isnt the case, i bet. look what happen with the americans companies that moved to asia.just to maximize profits.Who take care of the workers? and im tolking only of healthcare.not money. come on.youre lucky.
No, those people do not need a person to take care of them, they can take care of themselves, go get a job, and earn some money, not very complicated. No, that's the worker's fault. They keep complaining that they aren't being taken care of. People should get paid for what they work for; OUTPUT = RAISES and nothing else. People should only get a raise if they increase their output, not because they are too lazy to work harder
I have no idea what you are talking about, but if you're referring to work and America, I agree. America was built on the premise that anyone can get anythign they desire through hard work, but now due to Liberal twisting, people want others to do it for them, (PAY FOR MY HEALTHCARE!) (PAY FOR MY LIVING BECAUSE I CAN'T GET A JOB RIGHT NOW!)
ya.. its called sharing. If you get sick, then you benefit. BUT people die because they are so freakin stressed out about how they are going to get preventive proper health care, they can't work. If only Americans could think long term instead of selfish fast results.
Newsflash - tax money goes to pay overseas banks the interest on the money we borrow (aka the national deficit). Have you even seen the film? Good doctors in other systems (like doctors that convince people to stop smoking, or cure people's ailments) get benefits.
Re: How I "know that she's getting the healthcare she needs". I don't. I said she *appears* to be getting the care she needs. Ms. Drew makes the point that her Ins Co would no longer keep her in the hospital. I have enough experience, and common sense, to *know* that you don't *need* to be IN a hospital to receive ALL THE CARE YOU NEED.
I agree with you, mydizzle90210; I am not aware of the particulars of her situation...but I don't need to be in order to render the opinion that a hospital is NOT always the BEST place to receive care (a point Ms. Drew implies by her comments about her insurance company's decision regarding hospital care.)
I disagree. Let's say you needed open heart or brain surgery; they specifically build clean rooms into hospitals for this. How about immeadiately following the surgery? Let's dump the triple-bypass patient in a cab and drop him off at home.
Correct, I should have said a person doesn't *necessarily* need to be in a hospital to receive all the care needed - which is what I meant. Obviously, some situations demand hospital care (which is why we have hospitals.) But even current Medicare programs *will not* pay for custodial care in a hospital. Which is what I *suspect* Ms. Drew requires.

USA Goverment CApitalist shit they should all be killed and peoples state established.... It is time on USA to happen...Happened all over the world only SHITY ELLITE is still untouchable... This is a real story,, I have heard this a lot...
Is Germany reacher than USA or Swiszerland or Canada
I do not think so USA Capitalist SHITY goverment is using money to wage wars and to gain even more natural resourse ...
After the second world war and the United States hooked health insurance to employment.
It can take many many yeears to qualify for social security you can not work for two years prior to applying. Tell me how a sick person who can not work can live without helth coverage or the ability to meet the needs of staying alive when sick and, if you can lick a stamp social security disability thinks you can work?
What is wrong with these insurance industry murderers? How did they take control of our healthcare industry? Please support the California Nurses Association as they fight to bring us genuine healthcare reform.
this is so fuking unfair. There are people that need to be prosecuted.

There is really only one answer, the system will not function without the income of all the working because common sense tells us that if there is universally free healthcare, the people who cannot afford normal healthcare will be the first users, so the working will have to cover their costs
sitdown248 4 years ago
Why will they be the first users? dont all need healthcare? Everyone gets sick and has major illnesses, this is not limited to the poor. Granted the poor are more susceptable. Are you prepared to spent thousands of dollars on healthcare if you become ill or disabled?
tragicallyhiprule 4 years ago
Why will they be the first users of national healthcare? They cannot afford private healthcare or choose not to buy it, so if they could receive healthcare for free, obviously they would immediately use something that is free of charge. There has been data showing that people without insurance often avoid receiving care for fear of cost, so if it cost nothing obviously they would use it
sitdown248 4 years ago
what an interesting thought, someone gets sick they seek care. You are an insensitive ass.
tragicallyhiprule 4 years ago
Is it right for society not to treat the poor? It depends how you want to go about it. If people want to give their own money to pay for the healthcare, absolutely, but not if you want the government to pay for it. It should be voluntary, not stolen goods. I'm not insensitive, the real people who are insensitive are those who are willing to steal for working Americans to pay for lazy ones.
sitdown248 4 years ago
@sitdown248 Yes, because everyone who is Poor or can't afford healhcare is Lazy. You are such an ignorant piece of shit. Someone should Curb Stomp your useless ass to give you a chance to indulge in that wonderful "privilege" you think those who can't afford it should be denied. How much do you get paid to post this tripe?

debbydolittle 4 years ago
It's not the government's responsiblity, that's why it's happening, get a job, pay for it. The government's job is to protect people's rights, not give our free privileges. Too lazy to work, then we're to lazy to give service

you are kidding right? you want this woman in her condition to work? you insensitive prick.
tragicallyhiprule 4 years ago
Do I want her to work? No, she should have worked prior to this and saved the money. I'm not insensitive, it's just absolutely insane to base the entire nation off one woman who did not prepare herself
sitdown248 4 years ago
So you are supposed to spend your life preparing for some rare disease or serious illness by saving your own money? The Insurance that she paid for all her life should pay for it. There are millions of people in this country in the same position they are living on just enough to get by and if they lose their job they are screwed. If they get sick they have no insurance.Good to know that you have lived the perfect life and have prepared for serious illness. No one can plan for that.
tragicallyhiprule 4 years ago
Hey, she should have had her insurance deal set up so that it would cover her. Yes, you can plan, by saving money and also getting good insurance. Most likely, not sure I don't know her, but she got the cheap insurance and didn't buy extended medical cover under her coverage. When buying insurance that's a must have, but if she didn't then that's her fault
sitdown248 4 years ago
Yeah there ya go talking like a truely ignorant conservative. Do you understand that not all people are not in a position to just buy extra? That they just dont have the money to spend on it? Saving money may be easy for you but for millions of Americans its not that easy when you are only making minimum wage or even 20-30 thousand a year jobs its tough. What are her other bills supposed to just disappear?
tragicallyhiprule 4 years ago
Yes, but who's fault is that? It's their fault. Minimum wage jobs are not meant as careers, they are meant for people like teens who don't have to live off that salary. Why should we pay for their mistake? If they changed their life they could, but they choose not to and want us to pay for it
sitdown248 4 years ago
Well not all peoples lives are as perfect as yours what can I say. You obviously have no sympathy for those less fortunate. Im not saying that you have to coddle them but the point of this is that Healthcare should be universal. Just because someone can't afford healthcare doesnt mean you let them die. How Jesus like is that?
Would Jesus let someone suffer because they couldnt pay?I dont think so.
tragicallyhiprule 4 years ago
Oh, I have nothing against freewill donations, actually very often I am one of the biggest donaters. I believe that VOLUNTARY donation is great, but when you force people to pay for others that is stealing. Universal healthcare takes from the working and gives to the non-working in a stealing manner. If you really want it to be fair, make it a voluntary pay system in that we only pay if we use the system.
sitdown248 4 years ago
thats right. go the self made man¡¡¡.... until a bad one get you... i cant beleve there is people thinking like you. Well... yes i can, people like you made this shit happen
negroknd 4 years ago
When there is government intervention, many peopel receive the healthcare free although they cannot afford it, so what must a any good business do, to retain profits? Raise prices or cut services, and since they must provide the services, they can only raise prices, which sends healthcare costs to astronomical heights
sitdown248 4 years ago
If everyone had access to healthcare including the poor,1st it would create a preventative approach to medicine as people would get treated earlier. Most people who dont have the means to pay for healthcare wait and wait until it is so serious that it requires the pricier options If they seek care earlier they will get more preventative care which is in the long run cheaper than reactive care.

I appears to me that she IS getting the care she needs. Unfortunately, she is VERY ill (and this is what severe illness looks like.) Receiving care in a hospital, rather than at home, DOESN'T mean she will get better. Even current Gov't run health programs wouldn't keep her in a hospital (they would probably place her in a nursing home.) So HOW would universal healthcare for everyong change her situation for the better?
dane3026 4 years ago

You are crazy if you think that I'm gonna argue with you over Universal Care on a vid posted by people who are terribly sick.I do have the sense of decency ,sir.I am not advocating hatred,I just want you to get sick with cancer.
garoumec 4 years ago
Wrong! Wrong! Wrong, again! These videos are NOT posted "BY" people who are terribly sick. These videos are posted by the California Nurses Association to ADVOCATE LEGISLATIVE POLICY (i.e., politics). I disagree with the politics! I'm sympathetic to, agreeable to, favorable to the notion that these people should be helped, but NOT by legislating National Universal Health Care.
dane3026 4 years ago
On those vids,I see people who are teribly sick. I don't care who post those vids.I know you disagree and that is the reason why I think a tumor of the brain,a cancer,a stroke would be a good for somone like you. I don't care who posted the videos either. But I do care if the ideaology promoted IN the video is good for America or bad for America. Perhaps these sick people should advocate a health care solution that would be good for America.

Universal health coverage, infeasible? It seems to be working perfectly well in other countries. But tell me, what would you have in it's place?
mydizzle90210 4 years ago
How do you know that she's getting the healthcare she needs? Indeed, I agree that nothing guarantees that she will get better, or not develop something new, but how are you able to make this judgement? Are you her doctor? Do you know the specifics of her particular disease and any other associated conditions?
mydizzle90210 4 years ago
I already alluded to what I would have in place of Universal Healthcare; Dr. Grazter advocates it in his book "The Cure: How Capitalism Can Save American Health Care" In the same thinking are: "The Singularity is Near: When humans transcend biology" by Ray Kurzweil and "Rational Exuberance: Silencing the enemies of growth and why the future is better than you think" by Michael Mandel (for that matter we might as well throw in "Against the Gods: the remarkable story of risk" by Peter Bernstein)
dane3026 4 years ago
Given the choice between a government benefit program and the needs of society met by the innovations of that same society (which is the essential link of all four of the previously mentioned books) I CHOOSE THE LATTER!!!
dane3026 4 years ago
So you choose more of the same? In the UK, you can go to whichever doctor you prefer, and those doctors are given bonuses based on how pleased you are with their performance, and how healthy you are afterward. Within the current US system, doctors seem to be given bonuses for denying care.
mydizzle90210 4 years ago
I believe that the issue most proponents of socialized health care are worried about, is that not everyone will be covered. In a purely capitalist system, there will be the uninsurable, those whom it would be economically infeasible to insure. Which all goes counter to the whole concept of health insurance-- which is that everyone pays in, so that those who are, or become the worst off are taken care of, should something bad happen.
mydizzle90210 4 years ago
You state, "I believe that the issue most proponents of socialized health care are worried about, is [in a purely capitalist system]not everyone will be covered." Here is a point we both agree on but from opposite sides of the issue.
dane3026 4 years ago
In order to insure that small portion of the population that are chronically sick and poor we should have the *blanket* of National Healthcare? I say, we need (as in, it is essential and we absolutely must) allow creative individuals to innovate new ways of meeting the varied demands of sickness prevention and healthcare through within a 'laissez-faire' market while, yes, providing some safety net for the chronically sick and poor.
dane3026 4 years ago
The entire concept of health care is for doctors to make money, what part of that does it go against? By forcing doctors to treat patients the government violates the first amendment's "freedom of assembly"

a company only want to maximize profits. they do what they have to do to rich that. thats why healtcare must not be in private hands. healtcare is a human right, not a "rich" human right. think how much your goverment spend on preserve private rights and think about how many die...
negroknd 4 years ago
Yes, but maximizing profits is good. The only way they can mazimize profits is by giving us what we want and what do we want? Good service, so what will they provide to make profits, good service. Now, what makes the government stick around? Tax money, plain and simple. Now, do they have to provide good service to get tax money? I don't know, let's look around, public schools-nope, roads-nope, post office-nope. Now we want to trust them with healthcare?
sitdown248 4 years ago
Is good only if the service or product that a company provides is a comercial one. Im not sayig that everything must be on the goverment hand... but those who havent the grace of been born on a rich family need someone who take care of them.and a company isnt the case, i bet. look what happen with the americans companies that moved to asia.just to maximize profits.Who take care of the workers? and im tolking only of healthcare.not money. come on.youre lucky.
negroknd 4 years ago
No, those people do not need a person to take care of them, they can take care of themselves, go get a job, and earn some money, not very complicated. No, that's the worker's fault. They keep complaining that they aren't being taken care of. People should get paid for what they work for; OUTPUT = RAISES and nothing else. People should only get a raise if they increase their output, not because they are too lazy to work harder
sitdown248 4 years ago
This is america¡¡¡ any one can work¡¡¡ until you cant... then you will be a lazy one... empathy man...
negroknd 4 years ago
I have no idea what you are talking about, but if you're referring to work and America, I agree. America was built on the premise that anyone can get anythign they desire through hard work, but now due to Liberal twisting, people want others to do it for them, (PAY FOR MY HEALTHCARE!) (PAY FOR MY LIVING BECAUSE I CAN'T GET A JOB RIGHT NOW!)
sitdown248 4 years ago
ya.. its called sharing.

I have enough experience, and common sense, to *know* that you don't *need* to be IN a hospital to receive ALL THE CARE YOU NEED.
dane3026 4 years ago
I agree with you, mydizzle90210; I am not aware of the particulars of her situation...but I don't need to be in order to render the opinion that a hospital is NOT always the BEST place to receive care (a point Ms. Drew implies by her comments about her insurance company's decision regarding hospital care.)
dane3026 4 years ago
>I have enough experience, and common sense, to
>*know* that you don't *need* to be IN a hospital
>to receive ALL THE CARE YOU NEED.
I disagree. Let's say you needed open heart or brain surgery; they specifically build clean rooms into hospitals for this. How about immeadiately following the surgery? Let's dump the triple-bypass patient in a cab and drop him off at home.
mydizzle90210 4 years ago
Correct, I should have said a person doesn't *necessarily* need to be in a hospital to receive all the care needed - which is what I meant. Obviously, some situations demand hospital care (which is why we have hospitals.) But even current Medicare programs *will not* pay for custodial care in a hospital. Which is what I *suspect* Ms. Drew requires.

It can take many many yeears to qualify for social security you can not work for two years prior to applying.
