The hinge broke, so the tree did not fall the proper direction. A good tree cutter would have left a bigger hinge for such brittle wood. Even better yet the climber should have just kept chunking in down in small pieces 'till it was short enough to be safe to fall. These guy obviously don't know what they are doing.

Dead tree with a side lean near lines... that's an advanced fall, pros only. You have to make those mistakes in training in controlled conditions... not in the street. If those lines had been primaries it would've been a LOT more exciting. As soon as you can see the face cut and where the weight was it was obvious things were gonna go sideways... literally.
