Of course they are not professional but the soul and intent and love behind the sacrifice they put into learning and being willing to dress up and play carries forward just the same. @sssubmarine99 This isn't a song of war, at least not in the human sense. It is about grace and forgiveness and that anyone can obtain salvation, regardless of their past sins.

However, being a former serviceman I know what you mean about this music preparing the warrior's soul for possible death. It is perhaps the most stirring piece of music, especially when played on the pipes.

I agree with most of the posts, this needs improvement. HOWEVER, this is in Montana!!! It is a state of small population and tremendous beauty! They are in a perfect place to carry on a heritage from Scotland. The mountains there are indescribable. I am proud to see them making the effort and trust that improvement will quickly follow with experience and practice. All the critics should encourage them otherwise keep quiet.

Hmmm....you seem to be mistaken on Uilleann pipes mate. UP's were invented in the mid 1700's. As for GHB's being an Irish invention, is still up to some debate. The image of a piper in Irish engravings exist, but there were influences from England and the continent as well that could be very easily drawn into the "equation" (if you will) of GHB evolution. As for the pipe band in the video, the other fellow is right mate. Sad huh ? Me, I've been piping for 26 years, and did learn a few things.

Perspective: They play with HEART! I've heard real good players with bad attitudes. Yes, they need corping instruction, have to get chanters in tune, etc. It's mostly mechanics. I'd say 99% good mechanics to make it acceptable. ONE MORE percent more to sound brilliant! It's hard to quantify, but I'll argue that they're 97% of the way to make that tune sound acceptable. That's how close it is, but that extra 2% takes a lot of work. And that last 1% takes a lifetime. BUT IT'S WORTH IT!!!
