  • poverty has been the problem in the philippines and Zamboanga city is not spared form this social disease. corruption and inequality distribution of wealth among people as monopoly of commerce is apparently felt in our society could be the leading causes of destitution. in addition to this, disgusting attitudes of some of our people like laziness, fatalism, and easy come oriented mentality are factors that help worsen the presence of long standing poverty in our country.

  • Solid waste management...We can make this thing a lot more decent. The first thing I would do ( of course after securing my family) when I come home to Zamboanga someday soon is to climb up to your office, share ideas and figure out where I should fit to be of help. thanks...

  • "the poor will always be with us". so "ending" and "totally irradicate" poverty is an imp'ble dream. All we can do and can hope to see in the future are: ( in exact order) 1. the way poor people - just like me - help themselves and value what they have. 2. what role their "neighbors" take, and 3. What the gov't is doing. The role of the gov't is to do what a weak man and his stronger neighbor can't do together - all by themselves.

  • Spacejockey, are u kidding me??how can u say that Marcos are better than those other Pres? First, during Marcos time only half of the population, and then our resources are still abundant. Come on think of it men..Poverty is a cycle, poor parents having a dozen of kids wherein theres no proper educ.Wud u think that this 12 kids has a promising future?they just end up lyk their parents.Poverty starts with irresponsible prents and corrupt officials.Solution, fam planing, and maximized our resurces

  • the answer is...one child per poor family.

  • i've been to indonesia and malaysia and the people there are wealthy and rich, unlike' the pilipinos who work as construction workers, maids, delivery men and got a low paid wage in middle east countries they are so poor that they won't come back to philippines coz your country now is in a big crisis.. all filipinos are praying so that phil is become poorer every year until the country is starting to collapse.

  • i am not naive to pity them peoples who stragle in my city,i was one of them living hard life b4 i dont think in my eyes i was asking to pity me from naive people it was asorvival for me everyday. but these happen 20 year ago i when i visit 8 yearsa go back to the city it just get worst... i felt nothing remorced for them life is just about who is strong and not content to what life puts on them.

  • OH GOD PLEASE HELP MY COUNTRY......

  • Here was my conundrum. I lived in Cebu, as an American consultant. One day, I took 2 street kids outside McDo's (Mc'Donald's). They were so happy. The next day, there were 5 street kids, and I figured, ok. The next day, there were 10 kids. We had a little party. The next day, when I left my office for lunch, the street was FULL OF KIDS! More than I could count. I just broke down and cried right there on F Ramos in Cebu. I was naive. I tried to put a kid in school, but he was rejected.

  • God bless you!

  • God bless you!

  • got ur scenario in there bundangbear...I had a korean friend back in college in bukidnon and that's what he doesn't like about beggars in the phils. You give to one this tym, more will be coming next tym around and then you'll find out sooner, you're mobbed! So my simple formula or "strict process" of alleviating poor people's lives i've stated above may do something if applied.

  • very very sad to these things happening in our country..

  • my poor country..i dont know what happen they said the economy is become good!!!!fuck all corruption...

  • what title song ?

    Mabuhay!

  • People in this area would need to be educated, put them in a temporary housing project, get public fundings, fund raise or charity and turn this landfill to a more systematic, workable, profitable, and safer recycling center. If everybody works together it is possible without the gov help.

  • I think Imelda Marcos in her short time left here on Earth should do some good and invest her wealth into this area, and help these good people. NO ONE should have to look for food or goods at a landfil.... IMEDLA? are you listening? Salamat !

  • This type of atrocity should NOT be happening in our world of abundance! Those that "have" need to share with these our "family"... People like Angelia Jolie would NOT sit idly by without speaking out and enouraging the WORLD to HELP these people, and help them gain that important "education" and also to assist the Philippine government in creating a more inviting economy! Salamat ! Mahal !

  • thanks - ill work it out....
