  • lol, this was for wussys who were too scared to go on the demon... :-)

  • i love the rust and the fact that it was held together with fence palings and nails... real beaut

  • I used to love this I cant believe they closed it!!!!!

  • first roller coaster i went on

  • thats like colossos in germany. but thats high like this :D.

  • I remember that ride. That was the first roller coaster I went on

  • I remember being SO SCARED of this rollercoaster! It was the first I ever went on.

  • Does anyone remember what the sign on the hill said before the first drop?

  • i may not know much, but if i was the leader of wobderland, i would know NOT TO FUCKING CLOSE IT

  • @queenanalsex japs brought the land and sold the fucker! so lets kill them fuckers!

  • been there done that

  • shut up luna park is not gay

  • This Wonderland was right near my house =]

    - somebody said Wonderland had a new owner and the new owner didnt take care of it well

  • As years went by, the popularity of the park began to dwindle. The dramatic increase in public liability insurance costs, increasingly difficult competition from Gold Coast theme parks, plus a worldwide downturn in tourism travel, saw Wonderland's profits begin to turn into losses. The park was sold in 1997 to the Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia-based Sunway Group.

Despite new ownership, a bold expansion

  • lan for the park met with opposition from other local businesses and was deemed unfeasible as the park continued to struggle to turn a profit. With only one ride added since the Sunway Group bought the park (the Skyrider), many believed the park had been left to stagnate and a final decision was made in 2004 to close it down.

The gates shut for the last time on Anzac Day; 25 April 2004, and a complete demolition of the park was undertaken in September 2005.

    From Wiki

  • its always broken

  • I bumped my head on this ride once...wish the park was still there.

  • Why did this place fail?

Was it because they didn't continue to develop it?

    Was it not advertised effectively?

Was it too hard to get to?

I don't know but i miss it....so bad...whoever is to blame needs a stern talking too. Then a shotgun round to the head,

  • It was a fantastic place, but the owners let up on maintenance, and the price of entry went so high that it would cost almost $160 for a family of 2 adults and 2 kids!

I feel the owners were too busy looking at the bottom line, they didn't even give the place 20 years! I think they just sold the property to make a quick buck.

I know it was a private enterprise, but the State Govt should have intervened. The only place we have left is Luna Park, and that costs a fortune just to get to!

  • Essentially, Wonderland failed in the end due to three reasons. Dwindling interest in the park from locals, increased competition with the parks on the Gold Coast and the main reason was skyrocketing public liability insurance costs, something that didn't exist when the park opened. A massive expansion was planned, but met opposition from local business leaders. I miss it too. I miss it so much I could cry.

  • I don't know :( You would think that. But i guess it would depend what type of business' they were. It sure would have been nice if they could have gone ahead with the expansion and remained open.

  • i live right by canadas wonderland

  • loved the vid it makes ya miss wonderland even more they should bring it baack

  • i always used to end up with bruises from this ride. i cant believe it didnt fall down though. it never looked the safest.

  • I had a Wonder-pass, it cost's 49 bucks, and was well woth it..... I was there nearly every weekend...

    I miss you wonderland :(

  • good times i had in wonderland i live in Sydney and i used to love going to that

with all its rides like the pirate ship.......

  • my record on this is 24 times without getting off!!! i used to go so often the people who worked at the park knew me!!! and i made friends with them and on the bush beast i would come back into the station and i was ALWAYS alone, like seriously i was like their only customer on weekdays. and i wouldnt even move, not one bit out of my seat, the guy would just get me to re-open the safety bars, put it back down and he would send me off again......i remember EVERYTHING about this ride!!!!!

  • yeah guys i know its sad what they did i did know but they were going to keep the whole bush beast ride for a heritage site.I will say it was the Local blacktown councils fault because they gave the green light to bull doze one of the guys tried to protect it but the council never listened So i fuckin believe the council was part of it

  • This ride was by far the scariest. Worse than the Deamon. On a windy day the whole thing swayed and there were bits of wood hanging off because the bolts had rattled there way out. the carages were even made of wood if my memory serves me correct, and if you were stupid enough like me you could actually stand up.

  • No kidding - it looks like it's just about to fall down.

  • r.i.p

most rides went to malasia but this got pulled down.

  • The old wood rattler :o) I nearly got whiplash from riding on that because my seat had no padding on the headrest - but it was worth it!

It may not have been one of the fancier rail smooth, loop-the-loop, g-force roller coasters, but it was an original, and one of the best.

Remember the little baby coaster at Wonderland? "The Beastie"? We used to ride that again and again :o) It was mad fun!

  • i remember Triple M Sydney had some comp where whoever stayed on the coaster continuously the longest won like 10 000 dollars or something... :( i miss this rollercoaster

  • haha I went on that!

it was the only one ever.

  • when it got past the hills and on the inside it flung me around. it was my first ever rollercoaster =] oii do you have footage of the demon. that was sooo scary. lol

  • omg that was the first rollercoaster i have been on and the last one i'll go on! i went on it when it was raining, which was even worse!

  • pitty poor old wonderland is closed now and this great roller coaster is now fence palings :(

  • wat do mean wonderland it closed and no one can go there???? cuz if that is then its not true cuz it would have beem in the paer or on the news

  • lol wishful thinking... it was well reported. :(

  • wonderland australia

  • Well at least there is still the original at Canada's Wonderland.

  • I hated that rollercoaster, used to hurt when i went on it.

  • it was actually the 1st rc i went on so i didnt find it bumby, i didnt know anything else, until i rode the cyclone at dreamworld, smooth.

  • I went on the cyclone a few weeks ago,

the first time I went on was great, really smoothe.

Went on it again in a different row and had a loose harness, very scary doing loops with a loose sort of harness.

  • @harrisonzxcvbnm yeah i went on the racer in kings island WORST EXPERIANCE EVER!!! (sry for the spelling its summer i could care less bout school crap) it was my first roller coaster AND THEY DIDNT CHECK MY SEATBELT!! so i didnt have a seat belt for the whole time! and i tried getting it on but it would snap sooo yeah i bumped my head on the handle and my mouth was bleeding like crap! sigh nott fun :(

  • U used to get thrown around on that thing so much it hurt sometimes. The first drop was awesome though. Remember the little one over the other side of the park? the beastie or something?

  • The only good thing in sydney now is luna park, and luna park is gay

  • yeah luna park is cheap, and always will be cheap!

  • @harrison784993753

    fuck yo

beast was a hell of a coaster its a shame it went to the shit

    its not fair

  • r.i.p was a good ride but scary n painful. i wanna see the first drop again

  • if i took video of the 1st drop.. i woulda dropped the cam lol. bumpy as!

  • yep bumpy. but if u have a really tight strap it would be good.

  • Thanks for displaying the clip on here. The bush Beast was the first ride I ever went on at Wonderland and my first ever rollercoaster. I was 8 at the time and my mum took me on it. It turned out that it was Mum that was petrified and I didn't take too much notice.
