2. It sounds very good, though the high end Sennheiser's sound better with piano. I think Beatles sound great on the 325is, though. Also, the Senns need a really good amp, where-as these don't.
Thanks for telling us what headphones are in the background (Sennhesier HD650s) and the fact that you need to "burn" in the Grado's for 75 hrs or so. Do you recommend just a continuous play for 48 hours or so just with the device on the side? Do you user or recommend any different ear cups?
I bought a pair of Sennheiser HD238s and I hate them, they are muddy and you can't get anything properly. I now have pair of Grado sr80i's they are brilliant I can hear much more. I don't think I'll even go back to Sennhesier headphones ever again.
Hey awesome review, best one for the SR325i's i've seen on youtube. If I got these I'd be coming from some Fostex T50RP's. My question is, would I be blown away by these?
@kskwerl68 Maybe. The T50RP's are really nice, and so are the Grado's, but the Grado headphones have a different signature and a lot wider sound stage.
@AnThOnYpiano137 compared to bose or skull candy, but with others that are around it's price range the beats can't match up and its made by monster!? Companies like sennheiser, sony, grado, AKG and other professional companies don't even waste a second with monster cause they know monster is not worth the time, but I will say the beats do look nice but compared to pro headphones, they just aren't that great. **I'm experienced with all beats headphones**
if you like Grado and especially 325 you should really consider Alessandro. I don't think you can get then from a retailer in the UK but you can indeed by them online directly form the manufacturer. What Alessandro does is they work with Grado and literally rebuild Grado headphones improving their performance at a considerably lower price point. There are downsides such as the fact that you can only get 3 models but it's well worth it if you are limited by an under £500 budget.
It is one of the best reviews I have ever heard! It was wise to say that "Everyone has its own preference in regard to the audio, so there is no such thing as right or wrong choice. I still enjoy Grado SR325is. They sound even better than before!
Hey what amp do you have there? I love that omega stand! Good overview of these headphones, funnily enough these are the two I have my choice down to.
@BenHanna7 The amp there is a 'M1 HPA' by 'Musical Fidelity'. The Omega stand is very cool, but also expensive for what it is. I now use the 'M1 HPA' as a DAC only as I purchased a 'Mapletree Audio Design' 'Ear+ HD' Headphone Amp. Next thing I my list is stand alone DAC. And yeah I think these two sets of cans are the best you can get at the price point.
Man, those are the best headphones I ever had. I enjoy incredibly clarity and energizing flow coming from those headphones. But you know unlike many others who actually used Grado 325is, I found them incredibly comfortable.
Most dont know what theyre doing and only want the money. So use your ears and dont be pressured. Grado is high end but dealers
Mix em with hard cold digitized low sampled
Crap. Take your time. Find the right amp and player for grado products. Tubes on your cd/dvd media player. Or amp but not both. Mix and match. But these phones are awesome.
Hiya mate im trying to get some advice on new headphones for guitar playing and not many seem to wanna help lol how are these for guitar in your experiance? im using the sennhiser hd380 pros, i like them but there seriously lacking clarity and a little bass, im torn between these, AKG k702, sennhiser hd650s and a few others lol any tips would be gr8 coz im not in the mood to be buying headphones all the time, oh and do i need a hs amp if im running them into an audio controler? thx
@lantyboy696 hey there! I don't play any instruments and it depends what you want to do. If it is just to listen to the playing of guitar I think these cans would be very good as would probably the AKG's you mention and for sure the HD650's. Again not sure here but I would postulate that the Senn HD650 would sound better for acoustic and maybe the Grado's for electric guitar (but this is mere theory...nothing proven) as from what I have read the Senn HD650's preform well with classical music....
@lantyboy696 furthermore if it is recording you want to do you want a set of completely neutral cans..and from what I hear Beyerdynamic cans are good for recording..don't trust me hear though as I don't play any instruments or record..so I would suggest doing some of your own research. The Grado cans strengths come in form of delivering a good sound stage and great vocals in my opinion. A lot of people say they are the best at the price point for Rock music. I would go try various cans in store
@SonZep Thx for your response, im useing them only for recording and read i need some good closed back headphones but idk :S theres just so many to chose from, i've tryed phoning all the local music shops were i am and none have anything in, all i can find to listen to is some beyers but there the low end tosh lol. I play everything from heavy metal to clasical, been looking at the denon AH-D2000 best all rounders i read somewere, i know one thing, my head hurts lol. nice stand btw with the sens
@lantyboy696 No problem, and yeah think your right in your thinking that you will need a set of closed backed headphones. It can become a major headache when your ready to lay down serious cash for a set of cans because you want to get it right first time. Also there are a lot of Fan Boys out there (I am a Grado fan boy lol) who don't always give honest/accurate information. Thanks for the comment on the stand, my NEW Grado's are now sitting on them & the Senn's have gone back to my friend lol.
ello mate I don't play guitar but I am a recording engineer and I know quite a bit about how they sound through headphones. My sentiments on your question are simply this. . .grado headphones are probably NOTE: probably your best bet for home listening when you want to kick back and jam out to some tunes or monitor. They can also handle almost anything you can possibly through at them. HOWEVER: they do tend to ad a bit of a sparkle to your music . so I would recommend something by akg
@TheWizardofGore hey there, to be honest if your looking for great bass reproduction at this price point the Sennheiser HD650 win the battle. Everything else though...I would go with Grado cans. Again check Head-Fi.org for more information, and remember it is all down to personal preference. Hope this helped.
@yonutz21 Hi there, it all depends on the listener. I would go to a store and try various amps/dac combos and get some advice from really experienced people. Head-Fi.org is also a very good source of information but like most forum sites you must use your own personal "filter" on the information given there.
Thanks for the review, nice to hear from another appreciative Grado listener. I have a pair myself and personally did find them quite bright unamped. Got myself a Fiio E7 headphone amp/DAC (bargain & good reviews) and simply love the sound they produce now. Do get some ear fatigue after an hour or so (probable due to my ears being a bit large maybe) but a minor sacrifice I'm prepared to endure.
@MusicTriggerHappy
1. That's not a question.
2. It sounds very good, though the high end Sennheiser's sound better with piano. I think Beatles sound great on the 325is, though. Also, the Senns need a really good amp, where-as these don't.
3. Yes.

Could you go into detail as to why you prefer the Grados over the Sennheisers?
What amplification / DAC solution are you using?
I'm thinking of getting the HD650s in the near future, but I am also considering the AKG 701 (or 702s) or a pair of Grados in the price range.

So torn between the SR225i and the SR325is...
CorporateNothing 1 month ago
Couple questions
1. I heard the sr325is are horrible in classical music
2. Do they play piano bad, I listen to the Beatles so piano is major
3. Does guitar sound as good as everyone said
