Also, the first one is common is the UST or VSQ you are using is corrupted. Either that, or you just need to reinstall your UTAU program

@AnimeOnion rar files are just like zipped files. You just need a program to "unzip" them, such as winzip or 7zip.

@AnimeOnion Technically, downloading anything is a risk. But so far, there have been no reported bugs coming from UTAU. No, your computer does not have to be in Japanese (unless you are keeping the Japanese version and not using the English patch). :3

@MiharuIshimaru48 It can use your voice. Defoko is just the default voicebank for UTAU. See tutorial 2 to figure out how to do this.

I can hear the sounds in the "sound list" when I click em, but when I highlight them and press play I don't get sound :s and the black box thinger says "file load error" alot too... I redl'd and reinstalled UTAU but it didn't fix that :s I'm using the default UTAU (oto, the dl of uta cause uta is broke and has no sound files for me) and Nagonemako as tests and well both give that error e.e and uh my comp doesn't recognize Japanese at all, is that a problem? o.o

Another problem is that Defoko (the VB included with the latest UTAU) is corrupt. If you have that singer on default not only will you not get sound from her, but you'll also get a message saying "Bad File Name or Number" the way to fix this is to set a different VB as default

@KarinaNatsume It's possible that your computer is just having issues, or it could be the file itself. I personally don't have a problem with downloading it, so you might want to try it at a different computer or something.

um hey I just want to know, when I installed Utau and the patch, everything seems to look fine and most of it is english, but the parts that weren't translated aren't in Japanese characters. (they are random symbols) Is there a way I can keep them Japanese characters so I can use the default voice and such WITHOUT setting my Computer to Japanese settings?

@4wendy16 I apologize for not answering your question immediately - I'm very busy. And I did not see the "without" Japanese settings. Setting it doesn't change anything else on the computer. Your other programs do not become Japanese. This is the only way to be able to see this. I think there is also a program out there you can open UTAU with in order to make the Japanese visible. I'll get back to you on that.

@otakuJami Ok so I got Japanese in Utau now (yay!) but now everytime I open up Utau, I get like an error message saying "bad file name or number" and everything seems to be with the program, but Uta won't work still. @LegoDoremi114 I'm not sure how garage band works (it's Mac only right?). But any voice recorder works. But seeing as garage band is a Mac thing (and your other question), I assume you have a mac. I do not think UTAU works for Mac computers, sorry.

But it's fine as long as you have a firewall (or something of the type). Usually it's easy to tell when a download is safe or not too, depending on the link,

@Zanowillit All windows computers have a "Programs" file of something along those lines. It's in the C:\ drive. Go into My Computer (or on 7 it's just "Computer") click on the C:\ drive. It's in there.

@Kibibobo57101 I'm sorry, I don't know much about hardware etc, but I'll try to research that and get back to you ;3 You can't make the actual bgm with UTAU (unless the song is made up of people singing, like an acapella), you would need actual instruments or instrumentals or a music making software for that. (So far I can't find any free ones that are good...) Mixcraft is a decent one, but you can get it good for a 30 day trial.. unfortunately... XP

Depending of your OS you can install (technically activate) a keyboard straight into your computer. I will try my best to make a tutorial for this (Windows XP and Vista, maybe 7) since I've been getting this question a lot. I'm busy lately though, so I can't guarantee it'll be soon.
