the senators plan on having the original 92-93 team honored at a game this season at least for that game the 11-12 sens won't be the worst team on the ice
@tonymtlwpg Mainly because it was only a temporary venue until Scotiabank Place was finished. Btw I'm totally not buying that they can't possibly expand MTS Centre. If they tried I'm sure they could find a solution.
When the Sens returned to the league, they played their first game against the Habs. And now when the Jets return to the league, their first game will be against the Habs.
@FAITHandLOGIC take 5 seconds out of your day and look up the attendance numbers from the years after the lockout. In 05/06 they were 2nd and the next year they were third
This American loves the Canadian sport of hockey. I pray for Winnipeg, Hamilton and Quebec City to have NHL teams soon. Get rid of TB, Phoenix, Nashville, Atlanta and Florida.
@FAITHandLOGIC I agree with all except Nashville and to a lesser extent Tampa Bay, Nashville always has solid attendance and they have alot of fan support. Tampa Bay is only 3 years removed from being top 3 in average attendance, and now that they have good management and a decent team, I would suspect it would get back to the level it once was.
"There'll be some one sided games." You said it Ron. But the years of sucking were a good prelude to the Sens becoming one of the league's most respected franchises. Hell, they own these very same Habs now, at least since 1998.
the arena was built under the grand stand of Frank Clair stadium which explains why there is no upper deck on one side of the Civic Centre. I miss football in Ottawa bring it back it can thrive!
They chose a one-sided rink over Hamilton?

why is it cbc always shows the parliment buildings for Ottawa games? I mean it's like showing the cn tower for leafs games.

It's a symbol of the city. Ottawa = Capitol, Toronto = Compensating for no playoffs and no cup

I can't believe they allowed an arena with a capacity of 10000 only??? And everyone was making a big deal about the MTS center.

@tonymtlwpg this was in 1992 though... times have changed.

@tonymtlwpg This was the pre-Bettman era NHL when the League actually cared about Canadian teams. The Flames in the Coral only had just over 8000

@FAITHandLOGIC Nashville is doing well, the NHL refuses to move to hamilton (copps coliseum - >30 Years) and where's the love for Hartford?

I'd love to see the Whalers return. There's a movement going on right now to make it happen.
As for Nashville, they're losing money big time!

@JCMoney TB was never top 3 in the league in attendance. Did you mean top 3rd as in the top 10 out of 30?
