black ops was the first ever cod i played in my life. i started it after ghost and everything else was added...i fell in love with the game. i was so enthused to play it all of the time. Even the campaign had me goin..mw3 took 3 days to get all the hype out of my system. i wont say about earlier cod's bcuz I didn't play them, but I think they should of stuck with black ops and improved it...isntead of switching engines altogether to birth mw3.

I have to say that MW3 is the best in the series, barring the lag compensation, death streaks and the shittyness of the M16 and the MP5. It keeps the balance of Black Ops while maintaining the fast-paced style of COD4 and MW2. COD4 was great, but I thought it was too simple, just as TheMarkOfJ said. But it was made in 2007, so it was awesome for its time.

I feel that COD4 and BO are 2 games that what will make you perform is your aim and awareness. In MW2 and 3 you rely heavily on killstreaks and noob things like commando, grenade launcher, deathstreaks, etc.... just ruins the game IMO.

In my opinion MW3 is the greatest COD game to date. I always hated Black Ops because the guns felt and sounded like cheap plastic toys made in China. Infinity Ward designs their guns differently and it shows. MW2 was good too except the game was completely ruined by the noob tubing, bullshit commando knifing, painkillers, second chances etc.

Overall I think it's a matter of Treyarch vs Infinity Ward. I definitely prefer the latter.
