  • i heard humphrey was going to reinitiate the new deal programs of roosevelt but unlike fdr he was going to embrace minorities to be a part of his administration and be participants of the social movement/change.

we need a new deal 3

  • one of the better men ever in usa politics. which is why he lost election.. he was too kind and too honest and dirtied by lbj

  • But he compromised with LBJ's unconstitutional, immoral and ungodly war that the elites wanted and Lyndon and LadyBird personally profitted from(LBJ Company's stock in GE & Bell Helicopter). With the 2 million our forces killed in Vietnam, and the1.5 million at least killed in both Iraq wars,America is just ahead of Pol Pot and just behind Adolf Hitler for mass murdering

  • Ironically, many of those hecklers later became the top leaders of the Democratic Party

  • @presleyj1 Very much true

  • @presleyj1 Ironically the Democratic Party is shrinking in some of the biggest Democratic registered state like in Maryland where I live. In 2010 the Democratic Party of Maryland lost majority control of numerous county government and in 9 of the 15 counties the dems lost those same 9 no longer are held by a single Democrat for different reasons. But the Maryland counties that are held by the GOP are reducing different fees and local taxes. The Dems have lost their ways since 1968.

  • All of Humphrey's life he didn't take the money he earned in his paychecks in Congress and VP Office to invest in business to get himself enrich. He actually along with his wife built a home next to a lake in his state.

  • 2011 Hubert Humphrey prediction came true indeed. The Democratic Party has been destroyed. The Dems in Maryland at the County level is not really in charge of local government. 9 out of the 15 the Dems lost in county government. The Dems have been reduced to just advocating or not supporting ideas. They have no real power in County politics in the majority of Maryland. They strongly Control the key areas of Baltimore City,Montgomery County, and Prince Georges County.

  • anarchists?

  • The last time the state of Minnesota voted Republican for President was 1972..That fact makes me so proud to be from Minnesota.

  • @MANKATO311 Hubert's speech is true in 2011 about the Democratic Party devasted.

  • this is relevant to today as it was in 1968

  • Hubert killed JFK and RFK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hubert Horatio horn blower Humphrey. That's what Jimmy Carter called him. LOL!

  • He didnt win however the winner is Rupublican Former Vice Presidnet Nixon from Calafornia. Blame Texas for Vienam, Iraq LBJ Vienam Bush 1 Gulf Bush2 Iraq I supported JFk in 1960 I supported Goldwater 1964 I support Nixon 1968,1972 I supported Carter 1976, 1980 I supported Mondale 1984 I supported for Dukakes in 1988 I suppored for Kerry in 2004 I cant wait for the next demicradic presidnet from Massachests, Georga, or Calfornia
  • @Ja100453

You've got your elections all mixed up, man. 1972 was McGovern, not Carter. 1976 and 80 was Carter and 84 was Mondale. 88 was Dukakis....

  • God bless Humphrey... Man he was so right... hecklers taking their 1 minute in the spotlight and getting their asses handed to 'em. Arrest him? Those protesters weren't even born when Humphrey was taking on racism in the South. If ONLY Humphrey would have been pres... HHH all the way.

  • @TennesseeOwnsMyBones Humphrey was right about the Democratic Party going to be ruined by a few. At least Humphrey didn't live long enough to see the Democratic Party he loved once by throwing the unions under the bus after Carter. Humphrey was a liberal politican. While his wife who replaced him was more liberal then Humphrey. Rest in peace Mr VP and Senator.

  • Great speaker though. I wish I could find a video of his 1948 DNC address where apparently he was amazing. It is similar to the rise of Obama, that speech he made in 1948 catapulted him into national prominence.

  • @damo2353 Check out the film "Hubert H Humphrey: The Art of the Possible" for the 1948 speech

  • But it wasn't reactionaries who were attacking him at this campaign stop, it was, as he said, anarchists (radical leftists). I wish today's politicians of both parties had the courage to denounce the extremists from their own side of center as well as those from the other side.

  • Well yeah, 1968 was different from any year since. The Democratic party was split into four factions: the party establishment backed Humphrey, the Catholics and minorities backed RFK, the anti-war people supported McCarthy, and the southern racists backed George Wallace. The 60's were in a lot of ways a time of anarchy, both left and right wing (the right wing murdered our president in '63, remember?)

  • Uh...no. I've researched the JFK assassination for years, and while I still have doubts about the official story, there just isn't the evidence there that "the right wing" or "the left wing" murdered Kennedy. Oswald's sympathies were with Cuba, although I'm not fully convinced he did it, or did it alone. What's more, Kennedy's policies were not nearly as liberal as people today like to think.

  • RIP HHH. OBAMA 08!!!!!!
