@scooby1961 a lot of guys at gym [even the trainers] tell me i should touch my chest with the bar....however i only go down until my arms are parallel to the floor, never below. Do you think it hinders pec development by not getting the full stretch? In my opinion it's just asking for shoulder problems

pec flys are the best chest exercise in my opinion. i havent benched in about 2 years. i see guys come in the gym and do about 10 sets on bench press and a few bicep curls then go home, it's a joke.
@nugent321 i would say that chest workout is great. however, i would recommend you do biceps instead of triceps, and do triceps on a different day - with back for example. This is because if you work triceps after a chest workout, you wont be able to max out the reps, because they will already be fatigued from the chest press and pushups. It's up to you, thats just my advice.

I think he strains intentionally with light weight in order to make his videos more inviting to normal people. It makes it seem like his weight routine is similar to that of the average person watching this video. He can definitely put up much more weight than this. You don't get muscles like that from benching 100 pounds.
I train about 3 to 4 times a week. But to stay in shape I've got to almost STARVE myself by eating very little. That's why losing fat especially on my belly is very hard because if I would eat like a normal person does, I would be FAT. Ithink it has something to do with my thyroid. Do you know anything I could do?

I disagree. I find comparing myself to people helps me push my goals. When I worked out alone at home, I did little weights, same weight all the time. When I went to the gym, I seen my friends doing more weight than me. Seeing them do this weight challenged me to get to the same lift as them. I pushed myself and quickly reached that goal, and then some.
@Cooliorodriguez94 That's just your form of motivation though, you don't need to compare your max with others if you're not at their level yet. I just keep a record of my lifts and calories, making sure I hit my macros each day. Each week I up the weight by a couple kg and continue to grow according to how my body responds. There's not much point in trying to add 10kg on bench just because your friend can, I can understand getting motivation from it but don't increase if you're not ready.

You train till you cant do another rep, and that rep should somewhere be between 6 and 10. You work you way up till you can work with more weight . rinse and repeat.
Scobby, so can I do several variations of flyes in a single workout rather than the "usual" same way some people might do decline/flat/incline bench press on a chest day?
I agree with you Scooby. Bench press is over rated. Mostly bragging rights. I was concerned with my bench press for a while and worked it a lot. I gained 40 pounds in 2 months. I can now bench 45 pounds over my weight. I started doing fly's and then my pecks actually started looking good. They gained size with only bench, but they didn't have the look. Now they look great. @chitownbrowne I do ALL chest exercises on the floor, even when I am visiting a gym!!! I do not use benches because I like the floor to safely limit my range of motion to that which is safe for the shoulder, benches allow you to put your elbows behind your body which is asking for injury.

A question: the other day I was helping my grandpa remove a welded U beam in the basement. The room was filled with coal and so we couldn't cut it without potentialy becoming french fries, alas he brought a bigass sledgehammer. It was quite an intriguing workout. Do you know any sledge exercises? I've seen quite a bunch of them on YT, but they use mommentum too much.
Another question would be, what do you eat for your ligaments? I've not seen many people with such robust/thick ones.
Can you post a video about the books I can read to further my knowledge in fitness please? Or can anyone help with this. Like Macronutriants and the human body. Bones and muscles. Is it sports science?

yeah as mentioned check out Scooby's site ( scoobysworkshop ) it will have the info you need.
and to workout every day would be a tad too much, you need resting time, now as to actually HOW many days you workout depends on your routines, if you are doing full body routines then i don't see it good going over 4 times a week.. if you have separate days for muscle groups ( not what a beginner should be doing imo) then up to 6 days.
@immortalrapper The only thing that matters is that you get a little stronger each month. Either lifting a little more weight or doing a few more reps.
If you don't have any of these results then you need to make a completely new workout routine.

Yeah, I too noticed that when I added on insane muscle mass that looks beautiful, I was not any insanely stronger...lol(only a little).
A lot of people prefer to look good than be strong.(Bodybuilding vs Strongman)
HOWEVER, beautiful muscle that shows are more developed muscles = strength available at different angles of lifting weights.
Ex) Biceps = Hammer, Straight, Preacher curls all target different angles
meaning a more developed/beautiful bicep. Overall Strength!

@jerksjazz15 ... thats kinda a wierd question. You should choose a weight that lets you do 6 to 10 reps.
You train till you cant do another rep, and that rep should somewhere be between 6 and 10. You work you way up till you can work with more weight . rinse and repeat.

I agree with you Scooby. Bench press is over rated. Mostly bragging rights. I was concerned with my bench press for a while and worked it a lot. I gained 40 pounds in 2 months. I can now bench 45 pounds over my weight. I started doing fly's and then my pecks actually started looking good. They gained size with only bench, but they didn't have the look. Now they look great. @chitownbrowne I do ALL chest exercises on the floor, even when I am visiting a gym!!! I do not use benches because I like the floor to safely limit my range of motion to that which is safe for the shoulder, benches allow you to put your elbows behind your body which is asking for injury.

but seriously how can you only lift 100lb cmoon you fly a 110lb with one hand man.... aah I know you lift more than 100lb on bench, I can BET! Yeah, ofcoruse you aint lifting 560 or close but you certainly can lift 177lb

A question: the other day I was helping my grandpa remove a welded U beam in the basement. The room was filled with coal and so we couldn't cut it without potentialy becoming french fries, alas he brought a bigass sledgehammer. It was quite an intriguing workout. Do you know any sledge exercises? I've seen quite a bunch of them on YT, but they use mommentum too much.
Another question would be, what do you eat for your ligaments? I've not seen many people with such robust/thick ones.

yeah as mentioned check out Scooby's site ( scoobysworkshop ) it will have the info you need.
and to workout every day would be a tad too much, you need resting time, now as to actually HOW many days you workout depends on your routines, if you are doing full body routines then i don't see it good going over 4 times a week.. if you have separate days for muscle groups ( not what a beginner should be doing imo) then up to 6 days.
also average workout should take about 1 hour

@immortalrapper The only thing that matters is that you get a little stronger each month. Either lifting a little more weight or doing a few more reps.
If you don't have any of these results then you need to make a completely new workout routine.
